About Us — Iron Horse Bar & Grill

Honouring a Legacy

At Iron Horse Bar & Grill, we’re more than just a place to enjoy great food and good times—we’re part of a legacy that’s been roaring strong since 1978. Nestled within the iconic Richardson’s Harley-Davidson® Complex in Launceston, our venue is steeped in history, built on the foundations of passion, craftsmanship, and community.

From the moment you step through our doors, you’ll find yourself surrounded by stories of ingenuity and resilience, brought to life by the legendary Simon Hrycyszyn and the team at Richardson’s. The Richardson’s Harley-Davidson® story began in a tin shed in 1973, evolving over decades into one of Australia’s most celebrated dealerships. Recycled materials, handcrafted details, and a love for all things motorcycles have shaped the complex into a one-of-a-kind destination.

Above our bar, a Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle V-Rod Destroyer proudly takes centre stage, echoing the spirit of freedom and adventure that defines this place. Upstairs, the museum tells the tale of motorcycling history, with treasures like a 1940 Ex-Army Indian Scout and early 1900s Harley-Davidson pedal bikes—a nod to the innovation and boldness that runs through every corner of the complex.

A unique Launceston eatery, Iron Horse Bar & Grill is an extension of this remarkable legacy, a place where stories are shared over hearty meals and unforgettable events. Built from nine Tasmanian timbers, the venue reflects the same dedication to craftsmanship and community that Simon brought to every beam and nail. Whether you’re here for a family dinner, a lively event, or to soak up the history, you’re part of a tradition that celebrates freedom, connection, and the open road.

Simon Hrycyszyn

Simon Hrycyszyn has always lived life at full throttle, and it’s no different when it comes to the Iron Horse Bar & Grill. What started as a simple café offering lunch for customers while they waited for their bikes to be serviced has grown into one of Tasmania’s most unique eateries and event venues.

Back in the early days, customers would swing by for a quick bite, but before long, word spread, and the café started attracting more and more people. As the crowds grew, so did the space, eventually leading to the building of the Iron Horse Bar & Grill restaurant in 2011. With its Harley-Davidson theme and ultimate function venue capabilities, the Iron Horse Bar & Grill became a true landmark in the area—a place where great food, good company, and the spirit of motorcycling come together.

Simon’s journey began in 1973, when he started working out of a small shed beneath his father’s house in West Launceston. By 1975, he had bought a property that would become the heart of his business, with a renovated house that he lived in for nearly a decade. Juggling two jobs—a bread run early in the morning and an apprenticeship during the day—Simon spent his free time building his first shed with the help of his father and friends. This was the beginning of Richardson’s Motorcycles and Wreckers, which eventually grew into Richardson’s Harley-Davidson®.

Simon’s passion for motorcycles started at just 15 years old with his first bike, a 650 BSA. He would ride it to school and hide it in the bush to keep it out of sight—nothing could slow down his love for two wheels. By 1980, at just 20 years old, Simon mortgaged everything he owned for his first buying trip to the United States. This trip to Los Angeles opened his eyes to the world of Harley-Davidson® and sparked his mission to bring that iconic experience back to Tasmania. What began as a small dream has now become one of Australia’s most iconic motorcycle dealerships, with the Iron Horse Bar & Grill standing as a testament to Simon’s vision and dedication.

Lindelle Curran-Hrycyszyn

Lindelle has been a big part of Richardson’s Harley-Davidson® and the Iron Horse Bar & Grill in Prospect Vale for over 10 years. She started out working weekends in merchandise, then quickly moved into a full-time role. With a Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Marketing, Lindelle’s passion and skills helped her take on a variety of roles, from merchandise to marketing and promotions.

Over the years, she’s become known for organizing some of the best events at the Iron Horse Bar & Grill. From live music nights to fun charity fundraisers, she’s been behind a lot of what makes the venue such a lively, community-focused spot.

These days, Lindelle manages the merchandise department in Launceston and oversees marketing and promotions for the Iron Horse Bar & Grill, Harley® stores, TMW, and more. She’s also been the Manager of the House of Motorcycles for over 3 years. One of her proudest achievements is helping organize the Give Me 5 for Kids Bike Raffle, a huge charity fundraiser that’s raised a lot for a great cause.

Merilyn Hrycyszyn

Merilyn Hrycyszyn has been an essential part of the success and growth of Richardson’s Harley-Davidson® and the Iron Horse Bar & Grill. As Simon’s wife, she has helped shape the direction of the business from the early years. Merilyn was the one behind many of the events and promotions that helped build the dealership’s strong community presence, and before Lindelle took over event management (still helping with many of the events today), Merilyn was the driving force behind organizing memorable gatherings for customers and Harley® enthusiasts. She also played a huge role in transforming the Iron Horse Bar & Grill from a small café into the iconic Harley-Davidson®-themed restaurant and function venue it is today.

Merilyn’s diverse career path began early. After leaving school in Year 11 to pursue a nursing career, she transitioned into hospitality, managing bars at Silver Service Restaurants, and later became part-owner of the California Hotel, also with Simon. In 1996, Merilyn came on board at Richardson’s Harley-Davidson® full-time after having worked part-time with the dealership before that. Her background in both healthcare and hospitality brought a unique set of skills to the business and helped her contribute to its rapid growth.

As the licensee of the Iron Horse Bar & Grill, Merilyn has a deep understanding of all aspects of the business. She has completed over 50 P.A.C.E. courses, attended Harley-Davidson® University in Sydney, and participated in the Harley-Davidson® Worldwide Model Release in America for 10 years. Her extensive knowledge of the industry keeps her up-to-date on the latest trends in service, sales, parts & accessories, and more. Merilyn’s dedication and passion for the Harley-Davidson® brand have made her an invaluable asset to the team, ensuring that both the dealership and the Iron Horse Bar & Grill continue to thrive.

This place is iconic with its motorbike memorabilia. The chicken parmy were huge and delicious

Best meal I've had in a long time, greeted instantly when I walked in the door and was not forgotten at all, the lovely girls behind the bar remembered all our drink orders and kept making sure we were well hydrated and looked after, definitely coming back here again

Definitely a great place to visit. Atmosphere great, service great and tp top it off lost an earring and unfortunately benowing to me they had found it and presented it to me.. love this place support it

Absolutely the worste meal I have had since being in Tasmania. As for the service you could not get worse. Everything we asked for we had to ask 3 times over and waited ages for it. I will not ever return or recommend to anyone. Answer to your comment- 24/01/25 at approx 5.45pm Total bill was $197.00 Ordered - garlic bread 4 x potato skins ( that old you could barely pull them apart) Double cheese burger ( come out cold as ice) Atlantic salmon ( come out cold as ice waiter took back and just microwaved) when I pay over $30 for a meal I expect it not to be microwaved!! Kids cheeseburger ( smallest burger a 6 year old was still hungry after eating it) Pork Belly - ( tough, dry and cold) Beetroot Salad - ( come in a small dessert size plate - dry and disgusting)

It was a really great experience. The lass that served me went out of her way to accommodate me.

Really fab place . Lots of atmosphere. Live music , food pretty good too Had fried mushrooms needed draining a bit longer as full of oil but other than that was lovely . The men thought thier meals were good too !

Great food, nice atmosphere, but best of all was our lovley purple haired waitress Serena, great customer service, good sense of humour infact she’d be a great stand up comedian. Will be back just to see Serena. 👍👍

My local, great food every time I go and the staff are friendly and very proficient.

Great atmosphere good service heaps of bikes to see fantastic place

Absolutely great, staff are amazing and the two man band was so easy listening while we ate.

My wife and I thought we’d give it a try, and we were both thrilled with the relaxed atmosphere, the service excellent and the food was amazing, we had the cob loaf with garlic butter, cheese and bacon, prawn linguine and scotch fillet with creamy garlic scallops and prawns, Highly recommended if you want a great feed in a great atmosphere,

Comfortable and relaxed. Great menu.

Good food. good entertainment on Saturday nights. Music was very loud.

Awesome place

Thank you to every one that worked to help and make Pauls 60th party the best Cheers 😘😘😘

We love this bar & restaurant food service & atmosphere is terrific especially if you like Motorcycles like me . Has a Harley Davidson theme throughout plus a dealership joined next door. Worth a visit just for the food .

We gave this place a try while visiting the area. The reviews of their burger were glowing. The food was ok but nothing special. The service was pretty slow with our server forgetting to serve us our drinks until we talked to another server. The atmosphere was cool and unique with the motorcycle theme. The live music was entertaining.

Everything was amazing, delicious food, great atmosphere, but above all Giorgia's customer service was incredible, she is fun and too good 👍

Amazing prices, great friendly staff, fantastic food. Definitely going back!

Nice meals yummy drinks lovely staff

Great experience highly recommend

Great meals

Top meal

What an awesome place to hang out, have a drink, a meal or significant celebration 🥳 Great food, excellent staff and cold beer! Make sure you check out the Harley museum next door.

Bloody awesome place and not to a shabby meal to go with it.Service was excellent nice and courteous. Will be back

By far the best place to eat in Launceston. Great food, great staff, great atmosphere

Great staff and good pricing. Nice food.

Great atmosphere and the food was delicious

Wonderful evening Show and meal we had a great time. Would recommend.

We had a fantastic meal (Wednesday Parmy specials) were awesome, and bonus where can you get these quality meals for $20 each. Great atmosphere, the service couldn't have been better, the girls looked after us like royalty. Will definitely be back. If I can I'll add the photos I took

Interesting one stop shop. Not just a motorbike shop but pub grub and function venue.

Had a very nice lunch here. Delicious schnitzel.

Only had a coffee as we stopped in the motorcycle shop next door, but the staff were really friendly and it was nice to just sit. Look forward to going back for a meal

great smiles, but grey steaks

Have attended a few events at this venue. Brilliant staff behind the bar, but not so sure on the men that were working as 'security.' Wouldn't even smile, but they received the same look in return. Overall, a great venue.

Kind and accommodating staff from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Fair price on food and drink. Food quality was great and they did not MISS with the music. Not a bad song was on the speakers from the start to the end of our meal. 11/10 WILL be returning.

Dropped by for lunch, ordered 2 steaks medium/rare but our steaks came out well done .Not any sign of pink .spoiled a great meal.

Brilliant atmosphere, very friendly staff that went out of their way to cater to myself that evening. Going to places and being a sober person often feels awkward but the girls were just beautiful and made some awesome mocktails for me throughout the night and they were so yummy!!

Absolutely disgusting service by a lady server who cut my drink service off because I complained about the meal!! Got told we couldn't have a dessert because they had none left but then heard the chef tell a friend they could take all the left over of that particular dessert home as they had so much left!! Same thing happened with the main meal, was also told that she didn't even have to be there on a public holiday anyways so yeah. Do not recommend at all due to the lovely lady behind the bar.. 50 a head for a small serve of fish n chips and an average dessert is pretty rich so I feel you are intitled to an opinion!!

Great meals, great service, staff are very friendly

Friendly staff. Quite extensive menu. Attractive atmosphere.

We love this place.

The staff here are too kind. I laying on the ground taking photos of animals and I showed up looking like roadkill and ordered dinner. The staff prolly thought I’m going through something and sat down with me and had a chat. Even gave me a discount even when I asked not to.These people are too kind 🥹.

Great food and atmosphere, plenty of seating, live singing even a few old timers got up and danced together. Food was great size, staff very friendly, overall great experience.

Food is always fresh and service is unreal!

I cannot ever fault this place. The food is exceptional and always fresh, the vibe is super chill, and the staff are friendly, chatty and extraordinary with their customer service. 👌😎

Great place so unique 👌 Great bar staff very friendly

Great service and great food

Was lovely. Service quick and truly friendly. Like the buzz around the place and pillows on the seats. Might sound inane but skinny patrons love that. Food tasty and well presented.

Friday night dinner. Very busy!

Food great service excellent atmosphere 👌 plenty parking

The lunchtime food was extremely good. Took an Aged Care client for lunch, and he was happy.

Great meal.

Come over from the Mornington peninsula with the family ĺooking for a place to eat close to Launceston found this great place just out of town just a great relaxed place the staff where fantastic what a great place definitely would come back

We stopped yesterday to have a look around at the store and museum and seen food been taken back to the workers that looked really good as we were walking out realised on Wednesday nights it’s $20 parmi night so we walked back in and made a booking. Also during school holidays kids eat free with a full adult meal purchased. The staff were friendly. Meals tasted delicious. If we had more time here we would be back again.

This venue went above and beyond for our birthday event this evening, we couldn’t be happier to the bar tenders and the service tonight, shout to Georgia Nisbet and the black hair girl in the buell room with us: maddy, absolute legends. ❣️

Food and service were very disappointing.

Brilliant place to stop and grab some good food and a cold bevy. Be warned though, the merchandise store is not to be trifled with.... too many choices at very friendly prices. Do yourself a favour, make a detour if you need to, but just make sure it's on your list of places to visit. Guaranteed to be a memorable experience. I was on a quick visit from WA when we called in... so glad I did !!! Special shout out to Mandy who provided superb customer service and knowledge on all things HD !!! Respect ✌️

Very nice place. Forgot 1 order for our group but fixed that up in a timely fashion. Great staff..

What a beautiful place, wonderful service, fantastic COFFEE :-) and the meals were excellent, down to earth homely meals. The service was wonderful and cheerful and the value is the best we've found yet. Loved the Harley museum and merchandise shop too. Thank you

This is an Awesome place . If you are in town , make an effort to go . I make it a definite every time I come down from Queensland.

Good quick helpful service

It was ok

Entrees quite good, Over cooked steak, asked for medium got well done, mains bought out with entrees barely started.

Great atmosphere Wasn't anything like I thought Definitely worth it

My wife and I ate here whilst on our Tasmanian holiday. We were looking for a relaxing pub meal to unwind after a big day. The atmosphere was great and food was spot on.

My husband and I came in for dinner and received warm greetings from the staff and delicious meal, my hubby had the ribs and I had the schnitzel.... The ribs were absolutely fantastic and just fell of the bone.... The schnitty was yummo.... Highly recommend

Went here for a special occasion, was sat at the table outside the toilets and underneath the aircon on a cold night. Food took over half n hour, no salad and less than an handful of chips and all given pepper sauce even when we didn't ask for it and had to pay $3 each for it, people seated behind us wasn't having a good time either. A friend waited for her second meal which arrived after everyone had finished their meals. Staff could be alot friendlier. Wouldn't come back.
