Lovely old pub experience with all you need and a great menu. We stayed overnight. Terrific bed and comfortable. A comfy stay in a building from the past and interesting photos.

Age is a wonderful thing , Dear Reader . Having not been to The Glenferrie for about thirty-five years we were thoroughly pleased by a local watering hole which is working very hard - and successfully - to be utterly local , welcoming , accomplished , professional . Wandering in without booking , that admirable eastern suburbs ethos was evident as space was made for the Old Diggers by other punters , we were most efficiently seated for service and well-advised on the exciting , creative menu . Our food was delivered in good order and was of the highest standard . We were seated near the publican himself , enjoying a hearty dinner ( always a good sign ) .

Great selection of beers and friendly staff. Good place for a quick drink waiting for the train or to wind an afternoon away.

Ben the bartender makes a mean sour apple Mocktail. Dude needs a bonus for that gem! Special mention for the Caesar and fish tacos, great experience all round. Your bar looked immaculate too, team clearly puts in a lot of effort and care. See you guys soon :)

First, but short time there due to parking limits. Nice atmosphere, excellent service and enjoyable food. Courtyard looked well set up. Casey (sp?) was attentive to our requests and friendly, without being intrusive. A good representative for the hotel. Will be back again, this time for a longer stay. Thanks Casey

Woah! What a damn gem of hotel. Firstly this place is CLEAN. I’ve worked in pubs, hotels and luxury resorts both in front of house and behind the scenes and I know a CLEAN venue when I see one. This one was spotless. Not even as much as a speck on a mirror or dust bunny under the desk - just goddam spotless. The crisp white manchester was perfect. Also this place is SPACIOUS, the high ceilings, huge corner spa bath king sized bed all look small in these generous rooms. I must also mention the huge shower head and near boiling hot water in the bathroom were both huge pluses and welcomed after a long interstate drive. Then we get to what really makes a stay memorable, the STAFF. I had the easiest of checkins after having booked my stay online. The friendly female staff member Misty took me through the key don’ts (don’t loose your swipe card and don’t smoke/vape in the rooms) which was essentially all I could process after a 9hr car drive - perfectly easy. On my second day I mentioned to Jason in reception how impressed I was with the cleanliness of the place and he was also very friendly and easy to deal with. Both staff members I spoke to actually looked at me, listened and responded (sounds so simple but so many hospitality staff don’t do this). So wrapping up, this place is a bloody brilliant place to stay and I kinda wish I hadn’t told you all so I can keep the secret for myself, but this place really deserves a top review, thanks for a fantastic stay.

Quite expensive. $40 for two pints for standard pub service. Better off going to another pub in the neighborhood. A bit of a shame since the pub itself is clean and in a great location.

This pub is managed and served by the most gracious and accommodating staff. The food is excellent, the beer is cold. The atmosphere is welcoming. I would recommend everyone to come and see how great it is.

Spacious room and bathroom - comfortably old world. Great location. Only negative- slight - was absence of power points bedside the bed.

Great place for a catch up with friends while enjoying carlton tank beer. Plenty of room in the beer garden and TVs on most walls to view sports. Pram friendly.

We had our sons 21st birthday at the Glenferrie Hotel and could not have asked for more. Drayson and the team were awesome. Great service and professionalism. Food was amazing and the beer garden was the perfect spot for our celebrations. Definitely recommend. Date of visit: June 2024

Walked in, found our way to the bar because there’s no maître de. Was greeted by a man on a weird power trip that said “I’m gonna need to see your IDs” before saying hi or any crumb of customer service. Proceeded to quiz us on addresses & date of births. We asked if we could take a seat to get food and he just scoffed like we were stupid for asking at the bar lol. Sat down, got up and left because the attitude problem wasn’t worth the price point.

The Glenferrie hotel was a pleasure to stay at. The rooms, restaurant and bar were very clean and well kept. The check in was very easy and the lady who checked us in was lovely. The beds were comfortable and they provided extra blankets for warmth, though the room was well heated which was fantastic so we didn’t really need them anyways! The shower pressure was very good (a must), however there were no supportive bars around the bath so it may not be ideal for older people. Overall, a fantastic stay, we would recommend it to others in a heartbeat.

Best Seafood Marinara we’ve had for miles, lovely food and able to accommodate meal variations. Lovely atmosphere for families or unbothered couples. Great young and attentive staff. Love the keep of the original hotel style. 100% coming here again.

Good pub with a good atmosphere!

Barn of a place with lots of gaming, gambling and screens showing sport. Menu is decent and the food is a good pub standard. Not too expensive. Parking is a bit of a challenge.

Sadly the lowest rating is one star. Wanted to get a squid and chips ended up waiting for more than an hour only to realise that no chips came with it. Having involved in businesses all these years I never agreed with the statement ‘you get what you negotiate’ more - because apparently I had to go back and forth multiple rounds before I can get my chips with my squid. Worst part was that my food only arrived when the rest of table finished their food. The food wasn’t that good anyway. Good vibe though. But come on guys, keep track of your customers’ food orders.

Just enjoyed a great squid and chips meal in the main bar at the Glenferrie Hotel. I ordered at the bar, and was served within 10 minutes of sitting down at my table. The seafood was fresh,and absolutely delicious. Will definitely be eating here again.

Just wish I lived closer to this gorgeous and elegant old hotel. Huge mirrors, Chesterfield couches, antique vibe but also with a comfortably contemporary feel. A large hotel offering several spaces that would cater for anything from a romantic date, families with children, or large groups. The menu had a good number of tempting options, and the barramundi salad was delicious. Atmosphere is perfect for romantic dates or larger groups. Staff were friendly and efficient. One of Hawthorn's - and Melbourne's - beautiful watering holes. Absolutely recommend a visit.

Great location. Easy to run south or towards the west. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Meals are excellent. Having the pub downstairs just makes the experience an excellent one. Parking on site is free too. Favourite place to stay for work.

Great to see it hasn't changed to much. Good to see the original look with an open plan. The only problem was the barman forgot about me after pouring my Guinness.

DO YOU KNOW HOW SPECIAL YOU MADE MY 20th BIRTHDAY?! FROM THE MOMENT I WALKED IN, A VERY NICE MAN HELPED US WITH STORING ARE LUGGAGES. WE WERE WANTING TO GO THE DAY WITHOUT CARRYING OUR LUGGAGES WHILE WE LAST MINUTE SHOP FOR ERAS TOUR. HE WAS SO SO SO NICE. WHEN I FIRST WALKED IN THE ROOM, I SAW TIM TAMS CHOCOLATE AND I HAVEN’T HAD IT SINCE TWO YEARS AGO!!!! WOW THANK YOU! OUR ROOM WAS THE BEST ROOM WE COULD EVER ASK FOR. I CANT BELIEVE I GOT TO SPEND MY TIME IN A JACUZZI AT 12:00AM FEBRUARY 17 ON MY BIRTHDAY!! I FELT SO SPECIAL BEING AT THIS HOTEL. I WISH I BOOKED AT THIS HOTEL THE OTHER 3 DAYS WE WERE IN MELBOURNE. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FAR FROM EVERYTHING BUT IT WAS NOT. ITS THE PERFECT LOCATION. NEAR TRAIN STATION AND SHOPS! THE ROOM IS OPENED BY A KEYLESS CARD NOT A KEY WHICH WAS SO GREAT!! THE HOTEL ITSELF IS BEAUTIFUL AND MY ROOM WAS OLDEN-DAY-LIKE WHICH I LOVE!! Very quiet and nice rooms.

This is a really charming old pub, and the rooms are nicely modernised. The bistro serves great food until late. Sadly the bathroom came with a warning about condensation and is a bit dated.

Overpriced

It’s ok. The prices for beers on tap are robbery!!! The stone and wood is like $16 and was $18 cos of public holiday. That’s disgusting. No excuse for it. Just charging that much out of greed and that’s all.

Had a Great Christmas Lunch at The Glenferrie Hotel. Food was great, staff were friendly and helpful and no cleaning up afterwards!! Would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who is looking for an alternative to doing Christmas lunch at home.

Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our three course Christmas Day lunch at the beautiful old pub. The price for the 3 course lunch was reasonable. The service was excellent with very friendly and helpful staff. The festive atmosphere in the dining room was fantastic with a wonderful array of Christmas carols being played in the back ground. We highly recommend the restaurant at the Glenferrie Hotel.

My family of nine including myself dined at the Glenferrie Hotel for Christmas lunch. We booked for the 2:30pm sitting. The staff were very friendly and accomodating and the food was plentiful and delicious. I would certainly recommend dining there to experience a warm and friendly atmosphere and the time slot was perfect for our family as we had teenage children with us. I have also dined there at other times with friends and we have all enjoyed our food and experienced friendly & helpful staff.

Beautiful old pub in Hawthorn. Food is good with a few classic gluten free options like salt and pepper squid. Had a drink with friends in the afternoon when it was lovely and quiet. Have dined there in the evening and it was pretty noisy but family friendly.
