Excellent time, excellent food and atmosphere.

Went here for a pre concert drink last night and couldn’t recommend enough. A stones throw from the train station and gorgeous views of newtown from the rooftop bar. The food looked amazing but I didn’t get the chance to try last night. Had a great cocktail for $15 during happy hour and the bartenders seemed very knowledgeable and helpful, answering any questions we had about the cocktails. A great place to watch the sunset over the buildings in Newtown.

Been to Webster's multiple times including my birthday and I've had great times over the many years. They've hired some terrible bouncers whom seem to egg on and escalate situations and make them worse particularly if they're men or people of colour. The rest seem great. The food and service was otherwise great, but the escalator(bouncer) got me puched for following their instructions and denied it all, regardless of their action. Hope this helps other patrons

The rooftop bar is excellent. Love taking my dog there. The whisky bar has an excellent range and is quiet lovely. Downstairs is nice and cool on a hot day. The beer is good, prices fair and service consistently friendly and cheerful. I haven't tried the food, but I saw some happy people enjoying their meals

Came here in 2018 and it was brilliant but never tried the food. Came again today and WOW that steak was PERFECTLY made!! Complements to the chef and the whole place has a most excellent vibe

Great rooftop bar and food options including Gluten Free for anyone who is Coeliac. This bar has three levels and is easy to access, being so close to the Newtown train station. The Peri Peri Burger, Falafel Burger and Atlantic Salmon were all wonderful. Perfect sized portions for my family friends and I. Dog friendly spot, too, and not very busy on a Monday so a good option if you want a quiet spot on a non peak day. My only problem is the bathroom situation on the top outdoor rooftop section. The bathroom was disgusting on a quiet Monday and there was pee all over the toilet seats. The bathroom is a shared men's and women's so ladies beware of this really vile choice. Also the taps are awful and difficult to turn on/off if you aren't quite strong. You also get a nice blast of water on you from the water pressure and the strange sink to tap distance. Besides that gross bathroom, we had a great time here.

Went on NYE with friends. We tried beer nachos, pizza and dips, which were average (pretty ho-hum) and reasonably priced. DJ decided that 100 decibels (measured through watch) was appropriate volume at 6pm so had to move several times to have a discussion. Reason I am posting is to provide feedback on the worst white wines I have ever tasted. We tried 4 of them and the Prosecco and I ended up mixing one with Hard Lemon to drink it. Even the NZ Sauvignon was poor, how can’t you find a decent one to off load. They need to review their whole selection because paying $150 a bottle for something drinkable (the Verve option) is not reasonable.

Great place. Never new this great BAR was located in Newtown. We had a Christmas party and the staff and venue was amazing. Even the bouncers were exceptional. All very friendly people. Will be defiantly be coming back. If you want to be amazed by location, people and venue, this is where u need to go.

Went for a Birthday which included a tapas set. It was just enough if you wanted some nibbles as you enjoy some drinks. Add on a pizza at the end to make it a little more substantial. Waiter was good and accommodating but ordering at the bar was a little disappointing. No one else waiting but bar tenders were having a banter before deciding to serve... I had to draw attention to me waiting there as he looked past me when asked who's waiting. Otherwise good atmosphere and vibes. Afterwork, sunset views and aeroplanes passing.

Didn't have the food though but it's probably the best Pina Colada I've ever had !!! Their other cocktails were pretty good too. Nice vibes but kinda crowded on the rooftop if you're late.

Very good experience. The people were very nice, and the food was good. I got a mushroom pizza that was a good price. Also had a chicken parmi. Good selection of beers and wines. I went for an event and they did a good job at dressing the part.

It's improved in my opinion. The rooftop area is nice, weather permitting. Service was good. Enjoyed my schnitty - the salad, which is often an afterthought in pubs, was delicious - fresh and varied ingredients. The only negative was sticky menus which are the patrons' fault but could stand a regular wipe down.

Felt like lunch! Saw $17 all day specials. So I chose the beef burger and chips and had a schooner of Stone and Wood.$29.50 !!!!!! So $12.50 the schooner.Can get every where else $9 !!!! So crap burger with crap ships $17. Three bites of the burger and I finally found meat! Chips,like fried plaster board. Burger, burnt bun,small pattie,soggy salad and watered down sauces. Overall,GIVE THE PLACE A MISS. PS this place ,when it was the Zanzibar used to successfully complete with the Townie and the Bank.Now it just tries to rip people off.It also advertised as Webster's since 1863?It previously was the Zanzibar.The building us 1920s art deco cascade! 1863 was when the block was originally torn down along with the chicken run and a public urinal built. As I said before give the place a big miss.

I booked a table on the rooftop bar for 12 people to celebrate my birthday. The reservation was made 2 weeks in advance and I received two emails confirming the booking for 12 people. When I arrived to the venue on Saturday I was given a table with 6 chairs. I went to the bar to talk and I was told that we were actually on the right table, that in the email confirmation it said that they can only secure one table per booking (which isn’t true), that we could also grab extra chairs from the bar if we needed to. He also said that he couldn’t do anything else because the place was fully booked. He also told me that next time I should book a table on the second floor to get a table for 12 people, how silly… they had enough time to call me and let me know that. A couple of minutes after another booking for 25 people showed up, they were placed behind us and they told us that they got 2 tables with 12 chairs. They left right away. We finished our drink and left. Really disappointed, if you can’t fit 12 people then don’t accept big bookings. I won’t be coming back. The only nice thing was the salt and pepper calamari, that’s it.

The bar staff and security are all really nice genuine people, the crowd can let this place down sometimes but if you go when its not busy its a great place to chill with friends

First time customer & dropped in for a quick snack on a wet Saturday & ordered the Mexican Street Tacos for $22. They were really good, you get 3 different Tacos & they were all very tasty. We will definitely be back based on this tasty food & are eager to try some of the other choices on the menu.

Made a reservation for 19 people for my birthday a month ahead of time. When onsite a week before to confirm the reservation and was reassured that the booked is in their system. But on the actual day, the manager only give me 14 seats! He said, if he gave me more seats they will loose patron spaces! Not a reliable location won't recommend it for a big group

Good foods, polite staffs, good service

Everything is pretty much average. There are 3 levels. The top roof does not have a view. All you do is look uo to see the sky and if you look around, well... you will see tour peers and the walls of the nearby buildings. They have heaters, which is great! And it can get pack. Lot of young people. The night I went, lot 20ish males and females. And 30+. People dress casually, not one in heels or fancy dresses. Security is quite active, which I think is a +. Since people drink alcohol a lot, I guess as a female, you can feel protected even though I noticed that one bouncer/ security guard was a bit of a harrassar. He kept looking, smiling and I walked pass with my girlfriend he said something whilst giving us a cheeky smile.... we couldn't hear him anyways but we did not respond to him at all. Just look at him wirdly cause cause that's the vibe he gave us.... definitely not a nice one. But anyways, the is good if you come in a group!

Amazing vibe, the customer service at the bottom bar was exceptional. I was greeted and felt very welcomed into the space. A big difference compared to all the other bars in Newtown. Definitely recommend, and you would be missing out on a prime experience if you skip having a drink at websters .

Usually I always have a great time and have had no trouble, but on this night I had a negative experience with security. He asked how much my boyfriend had to drink, and my partner answered honestly, saying, “we had one drink before going out and one dinner”. Security didn’t believe him and said he “had a substantial amount to drink”. My partner was not slurring his words, nor was he acting in a belligerent way. Security still refused us entry, with no proof at all. Very unhappy with that sort of treatment.

Spent $100 on drinks, did not receive my drinks. Poor bar service. Go to the Bank Hotel instead, so much better!!

Lovely hideaway in the city with a cosy atmosphere. The food is beautiful and the staff are friendly. A really nice place to catch up with friends or family.

The staff was very disappointed. We’re in a group of people for a birthday celebration and the security with no reason asked the all group to leave saying we were not welcome to be there. Nobody was drunk or doing something different than other people who were there. Absolutely the worst place ever!!!

Great hidden whisky bar upstairs which we stumbled upon. They have a whole selection of whisky from around the world and many different types of whisky. Opens till late so great place to grab a drink and DJ plays downstairs. The rooftop wasn't open when we went unfortunately but it looks amazing during summer.

It's not a bad place to grab a beer in Newtown. The rooftop has great views over the local area. If you like plane spotting, you can watch all the planes coming into land.

Decided to drop into Webster’s for lunch whilst visiting a local medical specialist and was not disappointed. Our meals were great. My steak was so well cooked you could not ask for better. And my wife’s fish was perfect. My beer was my first for months due to medical reasons and it was great. Cold and fresh. You could not get better. And finally the service. The most polite staff that you would encounter anywhere. I have to say that our decision to stop here for lunch was the best. We will be back as medical appointments continue nearby. Fully recommended!!

Went on a bit of a pub crawl, in Newtown. Happy accident that it was 30% off all Whiskeys on Wednesday. Didn't get the bartenders name, but extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The Jura was a pleasant surprise.

Nice pub with good music. Everyone gets ID’d on the door which is a little “clubby” and the music was too loud for a conversation after 7pm
