Must be self serve as no one’s around.
Great food and service
Beautiful place to enjoy a party . The crew was awesome and so professional. Thanks to them. I went there to attend a party recently.
Update 2024 - ordered the GFO fish tacos. What arrived was a piece of fish in an iceberg lettuce leaf. Considering GF taco shells are easy to purchase this seemed like a poor compromise for $22. Upstairs works well for functions. Gluten free fish and chips was cooked perfectly.
Got some takeaway from here on a Wednesday evening when we were spending a lot of time at Women's and Children's. It wasn't too crowded at all. The staff were perfectly welcoming and friendly. We got the Korean fried chicken, fish and chips, veggie burger, and kids chicken nuggets and we thought all of it was delicious. Especially the veggie burger - finally a delicious and unique one that ain't just a store-bought frozen pattie!
Good spot for beer near oval..
Beautiful place ,nice peaceful atmosphere ✨ 💕
Had a classic snitty here, 1000/10 would recommend, easily the best I’ve had in a long time, sauce was flavourful, chicken schnitzel was tasty and cooked perfectly and the chips were sensational! Very reasonably priced and the staff are lovely!
Awesome staff and food! We visit here weekly
I have conducted several events at the Cathedral Hotel over the years, and every experience has been exceptional. The staff are always incredibly accommodating and friendly, making sure every detail is taken care of. The food is consistently tasty and great value, which our guests always appreciate. The events team is particularly outstanding – they're quick to respond, offer helpful recommendations, and ensure everything runs smoothly. I highly recommend the Cathedral Hotel for any event or gathering!
As a person with a number of allergies, I made a phone call to the hotel and received some great service over the phone. This was supported by excellent service on attendance and to top it off the food outstanding.
Visited on a Tuesday, tried their $25 curry & house wine deal. Curry, roti and additional gluten free garlic bread was hot, fresh and delicious. With a glass of Yalumba wine - good value for money (noting I paid extra for the garlic bread). The curries were tasty and a good portion size. Could not fault the dishes. Was quiet-ish, but is a Tuesday. Table felt and sounded sticky as you moved (booth table) but otherwise it was an ok dining atmosphere. Just a Tuesday pop in and out vibe. Would definitely recommend going to try the curry night and am keen to see what else they do well.
Nice pub, with good service
Over priced small food served.
Best coffees and excellent service..
Food was expensive. No coasters for drinks. Atmosphere dead. Asked for a pint and served a schooner.
Always fun on game day, but event menu needs some other non fried menu items
Went there for an AGM . They are prepared to let groups use their rooms while having a meal there.
Walked in on the off chance of grabbing a meal before football game. While most tables were pre booked for later on, we were offered a table and were able to order our meals. Thankyou to the lovely bar attendant who went out of the way to accommodate us. Had the chicken schnitzel and burger and we couldn't eat them fast enough. Fresh ingredients, so nice to get a decent salad and a full plate of food. Highly recommend.
The view from the upper deck was excellent. Very close to the Oval.
Delicious food, great service and always in my list to go when I am catching up with a friend/ work meeting in North Adelaide.
My burger was very partially cooked/quite uncooked in the middle so I sent it back. It was cold in the middle, like out of the fridge or something, and virtually raw. Whilst it was replaced it, no worries the server behind the bar did say “usually we cook them a bit pink.” It was a beautiful thick patty, but bloody cold in the middle and raw. Undercooked in the middle can happen to anyone but no need to try and justify it to me like its normal. Ive probably had a dozen there. Would’ve given five out of five if they had replaced it without comment. Only gave a 4 for service instead of 3, out of respect for past performance. My replacement was terrific and I really enjoyed it. I have a photo, but can’t work out how to upload it cause no option given. Boomer excuse…
Great atmosphere to watch Aussie Rule Football on large screens.
The staff were pretty rude, stood being ignored at the counter while they discussed who was going to change the keg. Went up to buy drinks and again was ignored, several staff walking past but not acknowledging us. Food was very average, the gravy was very thin like it has been watered down. With all the great places to eat in Adelaide I wouldn't come back here.
I organised a memorial lunch for 32 family members (6 under 12s) for my late mother in the Heritage Room, which is wonderfully atmospheric. All of the guests remarked on the choice and quality of the food and the attentive wait service. The bar service was also efficient and friendly. The event went off smoothly without a hitch. Unlike many other hotels, we were not charged for the room and not locked into a fixed menu or minimum spend, so value-for-money was excellent. I highly recommend this heritage pub and its hard-working staff who try hard to please (and actually deliver!) to anyone contemplating a special event such as ours.
Elegant building with a cafe and a pub, both with decent selection of meals, drinks and desserts. The pub menu is a bit basic (especially when it comes to vegetarian options), but we had a tasty eggplant parmigiana and amazing ricotta gnocchi. All that just a few steps away from the cathedral. Nice.
I was with my interstate guests We were greeted lovely can’t complain about the service but the meals were average Scales on the grilled barramundi, pork belly was heated up in the microwave cause it wasn’t hot all the way through, the gnocchi was average and the beef schnitzel nothing over the top, I feel responsible wasting a meal when there is so much more on offer, just found out my friend who consumed the pork belly got food poisoning and sick when he got home Very disappointing
Waited 40 minutes for serve of fish and chips that never came
Great meal before the footy, first game Gather Round 2024 Been here before and will come again. Best food with excellent service.
Was quiet, but the staff very friendly and food was good
Great place for a drink
We have been here a few times and every time the food has been outstanding in every way and very well priced The staff are also very polite and very friendly
Great food and value great area of the city quiet for where it is. 3rd time here this week
Stopped in randomly for lunch because it was about the only thing around and for just a chicken focaccia it was really bloody good! Decent price too. Definitely recommend.
Salmon was all taper no meat!
We tried to order meals at 7.57 and were told kitchen just closed. Tap beer used to be fantastic but is now barely average.
Great spot to stop for a drink before the footy or cricket.
Great function rooms
Went recently for a work Christmas breakup. Loved it there, great staff! Looking forward to another visit soon.
Barwoman knows what she’s doing
Great venue for a xmas show
Delicious bowl 👌🏻
Absolutely amazing place to eat out, the food and the atmosphere at this place is just incredible. Very friendly service with a variety and many options on the menu to choose from. Ordered salt and pepper squid, meal was brought out to my table within 14 minutes, even though it looked busy. For a historic building it was a bit hard to hear yourself or partner speaking, as you could not hear over the other people speaking. Overall good value for money and great service. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends. If in this location do drop in for a meal and a drink you will not regret it. Cosi Director Cavbiz.
I was headed back from Bakery on O'Connell and Brougham Park when I espied this hotel from across the way. I am not a local for indeed I am on holiday here from Geelong. It captivated my eye. My eye lead to imaginings of a raspberry or a sneaky 11am beer. As it turned out, only the corner section was open which is a cafe. Fine, that's fine indeed. Opportunity and chance can combine to be a benefit to you. As in, while waiting with no idea what to order, I saw sparkling waters and -and!- rye bread rolls. Jackpot. I had no belly room after filling up at Bakery on O'Connell BUT tomorrow I am needing premade and convenient food for a long, long bus ride. That rye roll with sweet potato and haloumi will be a thoroughly benficient option. The sparkling water was mere hydration with the light delight of orange and mango. Thank you for wrapping that roll into clong wrap to preserve it for the time! Edit: update, 28.11.23. I had that rye roll and the first half was better and tastier than I had hoped... Haloumi, pumpkin, lettuce, roasted capsicum. The second half... pumpkin seeds. Not pepitas nor even roasted/dried, just seeds. I imagined that the pumpkin was not deseeded when roasted. Or were they deliberate? They were all clumped in one lump. I gag when food is texturally incongruous; thats not something you can control, obviously, but my point is that it is weird, weird as, to roast a pumpkin with the seeds in - then plonk it in a sanger. I picked them out and soldiered because, for all my misgivings it was still delicious. If the seeds are deliberate, my bad, I wouldn't have ordered had I known. But yeh the flavours and all other textures were on the money.
Spent some time here this past Saturday lunch with a group populating the upstairs and just wanted to say that the staff were incredible! The food servings were wonderfully generous and the beer was perfect. Had a fantastic time! Thank you so much for being so inclusive and making our community feel welcome. Arrooooo!
The lovely bartenders upstairs, Georgie and Tally, were delightful. Food was great and space (Torrens room) was perfect for the night!
Tallulah and Georgie are amazing bar staff and so helpful. I cannot rate them high enough!
Decent pub food, probably reasonable priced given the serving sizes for most meals (the salmon was quite light on - about a 120g fillet with pickled onions, a smear of hummus and a scattering of coriander and parsley as the 'herb salad'. Also the pistachio crust was so light that I forgot it was there until right near the end - couldn't taste it) Burger was tasty and chips/wedges quite good (preferred the wedges).
Staff here are always very friendly. They are super accommodating and family friendly. The food has always been exception pub food. The most impressive thing about the cathedral is the renovation they have done. It features ornate archways, decorative plasterwork and much much more
Decent lunch venue and service
So there I was, lonely, unhappy and frankly quite hungry when I stumbled into the doors of the Cathedral Hotel. A young gentleman with really cool black bangs served me and persuaded me to try their acclaimed beef burger. He also told me some killer jokes to make me smile. This nice chap treated me well (he also poured me a Coopers Pale Ale with perfect head!). “Wowza!” I thought to myself and knew I had found my new local venue. For the best food, service and all around vibez, look no further than the Cath.
Barmaid poured a nice beer with a good head on it
Great hotel.
Was ok besides bar service been stuck in low gear.
Great food and service
I don’t even know where to begin! Had a party a few years ago I went to and liked the venue so I booked my 30th there this year. I am beyond pleased with the staff, the venue and the food! We had a massive gathering of people and it wasn’t too much for the staff! Multiple compliments about the food, and the staff just made everything so so easy. Kym was outstanding, and Holly was so helpful and kind! I just wish I could relive the night all over again. Thank you The Cathedral Hotel team for making my night as special as it was. You bloody champions!
Great place with amazing atmosphere
Great hotel. Excellent atmosphere!
Highly recommended
Great spot for a beer and a feed before or after any event at Adelaide Oval
Great place to meet up before going to the footy at Adelaide Oval
Worst service ever!
Breakfast is average. Smashed avocado looks like green wasabi paste. Do better.
Beutiful Food a d freindly service The Prawn is a delicious dish..
Attended private function. Staff great food great they did run out of steak which was a bit disappointing
Great service
Nice venue, unremarkable food, good location - it has potential. We had dinner mid week and the steak schnitzel was thin and like leather. The surf and turf wasn’t much better. The pub has a good location a views of the cathedral across the road but menu and kitchen needs and overhaul to warrant the price
Convenient location for post work or footy drinks. Great for breakfast, coffee and pub feed for lunch and dinner. Chicken and beef burgers with chips are fantastic. Service is good.
