Since when are gaming attendants ( Tauri ) aloud to have CCTV footage recorded on there phones from the personal office. Showing customers of a altercation of violence. It's quite concerning for being a breach of practice

For more than ten years I have been a great supporter of the Raceview Hotel Bistro, and did not mind travelling from the other side of town to get there, but over the last two years it has been in a steady decline. Once, everything (food, service, atmosphere), was great, and I left great reviews, and attended for 'special' occasions, including bringing overseas visitors, I cannot say the same now and I was embarrassed on this last Valentine's day. The usually engaging, willing and helpful staff were 'disconnected'. They would rather have been somewhere else. The food was, well not good at all. Firstly, the buffet started with salads (great) and followed with hot dishes. The hot dishes used to end with gravys and sauces and were followed by hot desserts with cold desserts in the dessert area behind, but a couple of years ago someone thought that it would be a good idea to add the hot desserts to the (hot) main course area and to put some hot 'main' dishes in the dessert area, which is totally confusing to the average customer. Bad move. (I have waited for the buffet manager to see the error and to return things to the (more accepted) way they were, but that hasn't happened. On February 14th, 2025, the labels for the hot dishes on the bain-marie were jumbled up and did NOT match the dishes they referred to. (A constant problem over the last couple of years.) One member of staff puts out the labels and other members put the dishes wherever they can fit, and without reference to the labels, and no-one checks. The 'chips' were presented in the shape of 'waffles' and not recognisable as chips, and with the label saying 'Calamari' . . . Also, they were 'soggy', not 'crisp', as if they had been re-heated in the microwave. The calamari dish had (waffle) chips and fried chicken pieces in it as if someone (staff) had emptied the remains of the other dishes in with the calamari while they went off to get some more chips and chicken. The standard of patrons, (or staff), has 'dropped', as when we arrived (at 1:00 pm), there was food scattered over the carpet around at least half of the tables that I could see, (from table 38). 'Atmosphere' - none. (Perhaps a 'locker-room' after a football game. This experience (and that gained over the last couple of years) does little to justify paying the recent price rises. Unless I hear that the Raceview Hotel Bistro has improved (or returned to how it used to be), I (and mine), will be finding a new place to call 'home'. This review reflects my experience after a recent visit, and my impressions from being a long-time customer. I am 'sorry' because I have some great memories. Grahame

Easily the best steak sandwich in Ipswich.

This is usually really good but the last time I visited here I didn't end up getting desert. Everytime I went to go get some it was always nearly empty and took forever for them to refill the desert station 😞

If you want a good old style buffet and want to relive the sizzler experience this place is the next best thing, everything a buffet can offer and dessert bar was also great. Was about $40 bucks each adult but was worth every penny, wish I lived closer would attend more often. Staff were great and friendly 5 stars all the way.

The food was alright at the buffet. I took my aunt and my 4 year old there on Friday 3 January 2025. My only issue with it was that my son wanted to use the toilet so we went and my aunt had gone to get herself something. When we came back from the loo, they had cleared the food that we were still eating and we had to get more. Not good if you're there with your small child and you both have to leave the table to get something or go to the toilet they'll rush over and clear off your table right away.

Overall good experience with a wide variety and selection at The Buffet option. The potato bake, Caesar salad selection, and the Hokkien noodle dishes were the standouts for me. It’s a bit on the pricey side but worth it to suit different needs and tastes for a family needing a change for an evening meal. Kids eat free on Mondays with a paying adult and a little discount for seniors a bonus too. The tables and buffet counters were kept clear and clean and staff friendly and accomodating.

Great staff, good food and atmosphere

I had the worst meal of my life today. I ordered an eye fillet, but it was served well done instead of the requested medium rare. The staff acknowledged the mistake and agreed to remake it. However, when the replacement arrived, it was still overcooked, closer to medium well. I mentioned this to the staff but decided to eat it anyway. Unfortunately, the side of fries wasn’t fresh—they reused the ones from the original plate and obviously kept them warm under a heat lamp. The steak itself tasted off. Despite being overcooked, it had an unpleasant, aged flavor, as though it was past its due-by-date. I couldn’t finish it. After the meal, I mentioned the low quality and strange taste of the eye fillet to the staff, but they simply looked at me and offered no resolution. This was, without a doubt, the worst steak I’ve ever had.

Okay but boring

Went to my daughter's graduation here excellent place to eat great atmosphere however the food wasn't up to standard considering I paid $30 per plate!! And only received a few chips on the side one chicken schnitzel and had to share a small plate of salad between 10 to 12 people!

We often eat at the Bullock and Plough bar. The food is always good and reasonably priced. The young lady and gentlemen behind the bar had vibrant happy vibes and also provided top service. Great relaxed atmosphere. Cheers guys!

The buffet has sushi yet no ( soy sauce - wasabi - ginger ) Food tags were incorrectly marked the sushi was very hard to swallow as for no traditional sauce for it very very bland the floors, utensils and overall keeping of the dining area look amazing so far the salmon is splendid, the rocky road didn't taste that good the garlic bread was really nice staff are amazing to overall be around their brownies are out of this world 😀 would definitely prefer jaylianos, same price more food and desert options and very good food

Hosted an event in Bullock and Plough Alfresco area in November and was very happy! Staff were prompt at responding, and super helpful and friendly on the night. The food platters were tasty and generous. Would recommend!

We enjoyed the buffet dinner for a friends birthday. We're not big eaters, so we found the price a little high, especially with the free refil soft drink package costing extra. But overall, thete is a fantastic selection of hot foods, salads, international food, and dessert.

The buffet was $32 +$6 paper cup for bottomless softdrink and will never be going back, very basic and low quality food for the money, the free food in the pokies room was better. Read the other 1 star reviews and you will understand don't make the same mistake as I did by wasting your money here...

Food has gone down hill

My husband and I decided to try out the Sunday buffet. Unfortunately some of the food was cold, dry and bland or just overly salty. Not a huge range available. Desert was okay, nothing really gluten free available and options consisted mostly of just mini cakes. As others have mentioned nothing there that we wanted to go back up for. In and out in 35 mins, we won't be going back.

A year ago it was a disappointing visit, but today it was 100% better! Huge improvement in fare and selection, reasonable price for the smorgasbord and friendly staff. Recommended to others and will be back sooner than later.

It's a bit on the expensive side, but the all you can eat buffet is absolutely fantastic. 👌 It's great for taking the kids to.

The food here is so good! The meals were massive and very tasty. The only down fall is the service was lacking a bit. The bar staff wouldn’t make certain cocktails because they were ‘too busy’. The drinks and food did take a little while to come out but the staff expressed they were unstaffed. Overall a good experience will be going back :) and plenty of parking outside the venue.

Great food. Great place to meet up with others. If u have a seniors card, make sure you use it, as they don't ask and you will pay full price. I did mention this to the young ones at the desk.. but nothing was done and she just ignored me. So I went back to my seat. The cost of meals needs to be up higher as we don't see it below us while being served by staff apon entry.

Average food. Small cups for refill so they get you to get up more times than most. Over priced for fried food you can air fry at home tbh. Waste my money.

The pub and pub food are great, but I ate at the buffet last sunday. What an absolute mistake. The food was horrible, with very minimal selections available and nothing worth even going back for seconds for. The desert was the only thing half decent, but for almost $40 per adult (non member) I will never eat there again.

At the entrance, we just kept waiting to be approached, the staff saw us and walked away. May be too busy for Saturday.
