Excellent spot to have lunch with the family.
Very disappointing . The prices are on par with some places in the city who serve exceptional food . The food is average at best . Prefer other pubs around the area. Ordered a rib eye (55 bucks ) - which was very thin and dry , and came with a salad - which tasted like a bubble gum lolly !! Not sure what that is about . Save your money - go to other pubs around the area
Went there fully booked water my time here to find it’s fully booked
Went in for coffee and cake. Cake absolutely delicious but cannot say the same thing about the coffee, it was horrible to say the least.
Can be very noisy when busy. Kids play area is quite good for keeping them entertained
The dinner was not appealing at all. Lamb cutlets what cutlets, thin dry grey meat with a bone as big as the plate. Hamburger, no not great. Not going back at all.
Great food
Great fun with the kids. Great choice of pools and slides for all ages. Lots of lifesavers supervising. Cafe coffee good and kids will love a bowl of hot chips after all the swimming.
We have there a few times to eat, food beautiful, but the place is so cold to stay long unless you bring jacket and don't wear sandals as your feet freeze we would go more often if it was more comfortable temperature.
Food average. Rude staff, treated us like we were an inconvenience. One even yelled at us. We got there a bit early so went to sit at a table (outside of the dining room) to wait, but before we could sit down he yelled at us from reception (about 25m away) to get out. I just said we were hoping to sit down while we wait but he doubled down. Very disappointing behaviour from (I believe) the manager.
Has gone down hill or just a bad night, I'm unsure. Our garlic bread was burnt (I would have been ashamed to put it in front of someone as burnt as it was - the 2 other served at the same time were fine). Plates were passed across the table for us to take from the server. I expected better service and food. Everyone's meals at our table of 7 were mediocre at best.
Great food and area for kids to play
You’d have to hope for a miracle if you want customer service
Very average menu with limited options & the food is definitely not up to scratch, meals took quite a while to come out even though they weren't busy. Not worth the money. Big shame for a venue with possible potential.
Always a big hit or miss when I come here. The staff and amenities are perfect, but the food is average most visits. My advice is to stick to the basics. My last visit was a gnocchi (can’t remember the exact name), basically a bowl of cheese and oil. Felt like my arteries were blockin up with every bite.
Went with two friends for dinner and trivia night. Two meals came out in a good amount of time. My other friend who arrived a bit later waited 45 minutes for her meal. My slow cooked beef brisket was dry and chewy. I mentioned to the staff member to let the cook know it was very dry. This was after she bought a meal to the table and I had to ask if she could take away the empty plates that had been sitting there for at least 30 minutes. As we went to order dessert, the staff member at the sports bar, she left to go out the back and we saw her using her phone. She then came back to take our orders. The atmosphere was nice as the other people attending the trivia night were happy and chatty. But the service was very slow and not very productive as plates were left on tables a long time and orders seemed to take longer then they should. It wasn't overly busy.
We had an excellent experience. Yummy Korean chicken drummits and beer.
Love it 😀
Zero customer service, felt unwelcoming 😏
The Brook is my go to, I love what they’ve done with all the Christmas decorations it makes the atmosphere so cosy
Great food a little on the pricey side, the service is excellent and fast. You can always try and recoup your money from the pokies but we know the house always wins in the end.
Went for my wife’s birthday, been a few times before, this night the so called “assistant manager” was abrupt and rude to my wife when ordering and I also noticed he spoke bad to his staff who by the way were very nice, and also he was rude to other customers! My wife ordered a roast and when it came had no potatoes and when she asked was told they didn’t come with potato? A roast with no potatoes? Surely not but yes no potato. She had to order one would you believe, I won’t go on about the drama the so called assistant manager made when my wife ordered my Parma and asked for coleslaw which I have had there numerous times with no fuss, he said it doesn’t come with coleslaw to which my wife asked since when? As we get it every time and he stormed off leaving my wife uncomfortable whilst he went to kitchen to see if they would do it and came back pissed and told my wife if she wanted it she would have to pay more even though we weren’t getting the salad, which she did begrudgingly! I have written a few times to the venue manager about this and even rang to speak but was told it was her day off but she will call me back, that was over a month ago and in the meantime have spoken to other assistant managers about it who said they will let their manager know but still nothing! It spoilt our night and just didn’t need to happen but speaking to other customers who no longer go there either they were not surprised at all. Very disappointing indeed!
The worst place for lunch or dinner. The assistant manager Fran had no management skills. She is rude and barely smiles. When a honest feedback was given she called me horrible and went on on belittling me. I was there for lunch on toesday 19/11. I then understood why The Brook had such low rating. I also did mention to her that i will be putting in a review and do not accept this type of behaviour from her especially in the capacity of a manager. if you can help it not worth supporting this place because they are are not prepared to take constructive feedback and improve. Stay away from The Brook, It is my local business and i tried to support them but there is no reciprocation. I will go to my favourite Altona Sport Club where atmosphere is excellent, great team of staff and willing to take feeback for improvement and sustainability. The Brook need to retrain staff that are fit for hospitality. Fran needs training not to the level of a manager in hospitality. Good luck !!
Helpful staff and good food
Recently went to The Brook and the food was delicious but most impressive was the wonderful service which is so hard to come by these days. My nana became unwell while we were there and staff went above and beyond to support us in looking after her. Well done team
It's a pretty good place to eat, have to book because it gets busy. Food is good and service good. Don't bother with the assortments of parmas , they aren't all that great, stick to the original.
I hadn't been to The Brook for a few years as I didn't know they could make (coeliac safe) gluten free meals. Tried them this week and was delighted to see they have decent gf menu items (not just salmon or risotto) and a separate gf fryer. I ordered fish and chips and it was so good! The batter on the flathead fillets was light and crispy and the chips were really good. I loved my meal! Friendly, helpful staff and a really nice atmosphere. My gluten eating family enjoyed their meals too. I'll be back soon! Edit: I came back and had calamari next time and it was also excellent! Kids love the playground too
Ordered the Pork knuckle only to be served a Shank, wrote to management, still, waiting their reply, not in any hurry to go back, but the Staff were excellent!
I went to have dinner with my friend last night. We both weren't happy with the food or service so would not return. The pork ribs I ordered weren't great so i didnt finish it, my friends steak that he payed $55 for was cold. They didn't bring out both our meals together. We also waited about an hour for the food and it was only a Tuesday night. No one came to check on us and ask how the food was. I had to go up and ask for someone to clear our table. Cocktail and desert was just average. I wouldn't recommend this place or go again.
Friendly, Polite service by Claire. Food was fresh and hot
The seniors meal was very small and gravy had a stale taste the stien of beer was very good
Everything is good except for beef brisket (12 hours long cooking) which has a sweet flavour and not tender.
Awesome staff at the sports bar! Great vibes and nice pool table. Recommend the calamari
Great food selection & quality, with prompt friendly service. I would recommend to others, you may be pleasantly surprised at what this pub bistro has on offer.
Visited the venue for dinner, didn't have a renovation but was room within main section of bistro area. Nope we were given table in area before bistro. 45 minutes and we are still waiting for our meal. No apologises or updates been given. Service is VERY SLOW. Our food shouldn't take this long as bistro is not full! Nearly an hour later food arrived with no apology, Luke warm and wasn't appealing. The picture below is meant to be butter chicken, rice was watery, texture and appearance horrible and overall very off putting . VERY DISAPPOINTING 😞
No atmosphere whatsoever. We Had to request to get the football finals put on the tv in the sportsbar !!! Lol cmon guys.
Lovely food, excellent service, especially from the waitress named Claire.
Food was 👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎 Claire our waitress was friendly & down to earth, checking in on us from time to time, With our 2 course meals.
We had lunch here for Father's Day. It's a nice, cozy place. Very family friendly. The portions are good and good value.
Went on father's day at 5.30pm.dinner with my family table of 8. My son ordered the father's day special Brisket. When it came he looked at it and I couldn't believe what was on his plate. 3 pices of thin beef a splash of mash potatoes and 3 of the smallest carrots I have ever seen. I said I should take it back but he woudnt let me. When we go to the pub near his home in W Bewick you should see the Brisket he gets there You need to speak too your chief as it is not a La di da restaurant. Not happy Michael k
First time here but not the last. Easy to walk in and get a table for 3. Food was great.
My local club for the past 11 years, and it has been convenient
For the size and location of The Brook they need to consider paying for Fox Sport so about $100 a month.... They need to show the AFL games, as we drive right past here every week to another venue for the Footy we buy Dinner and Drinks plus put money into the Pokies as do our friends we are normally a group of 8-12 so The Brook is losing good money each week.
My family and I simply loved it . We had a great time. Thanks to the brook""
It is mostly good. The kids always enjoy their meals, the pub classics are pretty good, unfortunately on the last trip the beef Wellington (about $50) was just awful. Undercooked, soggy and underseasoned. They did take it off the bill without question, but frustrating all the same. As for service, you order at the counter and they bring your food, then you see no one…if you need anything else (like a fork or a napkin) you have to head back to the counter. Quite pricy meals for McDonalds-like service. The atmosphere is good when it is reasonably full.
Had my 21st hosted at the Brook’s function room and honestly couldn’t fault anything. The staff and their service was absolutely amazing and they’re so friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and plenty of servings with their canapé menu. Would highly recommend 😁
Best pokies in Melbourne and staff is really helpful. Just in this place i feel like pokies are random. well managed place Recommended to everyone
I came back to try again and food was great, even the kids enjoyed theirs. Only gripe I have is I asked if I get charged on my card and was told no. The price that I put my card up to changed to an extra charge which I wasnt happy with. Looks like I will be paying cash from now on. Cant keep affording to go out if there is a surcharge on my card. Thats ridiculous. I should have been informed beforehand as I am not a regular and rarely go out.
Reasonable food - large portions and simple food. Have to queue and order at a counter and food service a bit slow. Staff friendly and polite. Lighting is way too bright and felt very cold in temperature.
The worst food i have ever had!!!!! The steak tasted like it was parboiled🤮🤮 Who wants to have steak with a chunk of steamed onions and block of tinned beetroot..The worst food ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wife Had the chicken Palmie said it was nice. The rest of us had their Christmas in July roast dinner. What I can imagine it was like an age care dinner very standard and undercooked.
Great place to chill out, be a member first to enjoy discounts.
The team are lovely, this is a good pub though I wasn’t a fan of the oysters/ serving (the photo is how they were served). The gluten free fish is really good though.
Erin Patterson must be the cook with all the mushroom dishes being served..
Open till midnight but they empty the place at 11.50pm
Fantastic food and service. Highly recommend.
Was very surprised at how nice this place is. Have lived nearby for years and never thought to go in as it looks fairly average from the outside... Decided to take the family one evening and turned out to be a great meal with a nice environment and the kids loved the play area! I'll keep coming back for sure 😊
I have eaten a lot of food, and in all my days, it surprises even me when an establishment can make a parmigiana that hits the top 10 parmis on my list. The dining experience at the brook is ratatouille level and should not be underestimated. They also do a trivia that is very fun to play and they'll even let the kids have a team and play. They have smoking areas that is heated. If you're looking for a place to bring your friends or even just trying to experience a parmigiana that will elevate your understanding of chicken as a meal. I'd go here
Had our senoir lunch catch up with friends. Great service & and good food
Nice but were understaffed
I went to dinner at the brook last night with family for Mothers Day. The team brought out the wrong meal initially, having ordered a vegetarian meal, I was provided with a Chicken Burger rather than the Chickpea and Lentil burger. I then had to wait a further 20 minutes for my meal to arrive, as even the entrees arrived after the mains. By the time food arrived, everyone else at the table had finished their meals. When the meal did eventually arrive, the burger patty contained curry paste (which was not included in the ingredients on the menu) and unfortunately I couldn't eat this. The onion rings were nice, however overall it was a very poor experience.
Great food at a very reasonable price. The Texan Parma was superb.
We regret spending our precious hour break at this place as they were so rude and made us feel unwelcomed. For a place that is advertising about mothers day they greeted us with what we wanted when I walked in with a twin pram. The takeaway coffee we ordered was burnt, and she couldn't wait for me to be gone. Also, not to mention that 2 black coffees and a cake cost me $21!
Good place for seniors to have a meal.
The manager of this venue is probably the worst I have ever come across. He was rude and dismissive towards us upon arrival, and he had no pleasant manners towards customers at all! We were a group of ten in for lunch and I expect better. The food was average at best. Big portions but definitely not fresh and we all felt disappointed. The steak was good and well cooked but the rest was average to below average. Its emphasis is clearly on gaming here!
Chicken Parma, Brook Burger and garlic bread are tasty! Children's playground to keep your kid busy if they like that.
Was served by Elle, what a pleasure they were. Will definitely be back. WELL DONE ELLE AND THANK YOU.
Food and service was exceptional for pub prices. Disappointed that if you wanted to sit in the sports bar you had to go to the pokies to get a drink
Great seniors meal
