Had a pleasant brunch today, and it was better than expected! The place was busy, but we managed to grab a table without a reservation. We tried the chili omelette, Mexican, and lamb Benedict. The chili omelette was absolutely delicious and exceeded expectations. The lamb Benedict was good, but the Mexican dish was just average. The bacon and hash browns were good. Unfortunately, the coffee wasn’t that great. The portion sizes were pretty decent and very filling. Service was fantastic, both ladies who served us were super friendly and cheerful. There was a public toilet just around the corner, which was convenient. The place allowed split bills but had a card surcharge.

The food quality is variable. It depends on what you order.

Today 12/12 2024 I ordered Chargrilled Calamari Salad and I was disappointed with what I received.A few pices of calamari in salad which were hard as rubber with no taste at all.They should by soft and crispy , just like I have seen in other restaurant.I have been to this restaurant many times and this was the first time I was disappointed with the dish I received. The service (staff)was very good.

Very bad experience, let me start: Service: The girl who took our order was super clumsy. She dripped soda on our bags while putting on the table. Got the drinks order wrong at the very beginning. Later, we ordered a steak sandwich, and i specifically said steak grilled sandwich. After 15 mins, she came back with a club sandwich. Food: we ordered chicken mushroom pasta and a kebab plate. We found a hair on the second bite of the pasta (I should have taken a picture of it. I regret now). We gave it back and ordered a steak grilled sandwich. After 15 mins, they came with a club sandwich. When we said we ordered a different thing, she said this is a grilled sandwich. Their menu specifically have 2 different sandwich, maybe I added the word grill, but it was her responsibility to double confirm to get it correct. Lastly, after that, we said we do not want anything else, please cancle the order. The story is not finished here. They made an avo toast for some customer, and called for it for 10 mins, we all heard that. No one came to pick that up, then the girl came and offered the avo toast to us. That was really disgusting. At last, They wanted to charge me for the pasta as well, I said I didn't have it, as I cancelled it. They said yes, but we offered you a sandwich and a toast. You did not take it. Why would I take something which I don't want to eat? Honestly, it's the worst restaurant experience in Melbourne so far. Bad hygiene, tastes average, price high and extremely bad service.... 👎

A sweet little nook to pop into while in the area. If you're over the numbers of kebab shops and after a long chat and some decent coffee. The menu adds slight tweaks of colour and variation. Like all the peppers to a mexicana brekky. Just wish there were more fruit salads for those late dinners.

Food: Good serving, unique set of Veggies made tasty and smokey. Well cooked poached egg, oozes out well, ham was fresh, sourdough was tasty and well made. Sauce was the most unique I tasted from all places I had this food (and I have the same thing every where) the sauce was so tasty that i did not put salt or pepper to preserve the taste. Dessert came in full package! Service: offered choices of meat, directed me to a place with plug point so I can work on the area, served the desserts later to keep it moist. (This is a cafe?!) Athmosphere: just makes dandenong such a calm and nice place. Good view. Good sounds.

Took my partner for their birthday ,we had been seated outside .waited nearly 30 mins before being served .3 other tables that came in after us where served before us .only served when staff member randomly looked out the window .

Recently discovered this place. I asked the chick at Chemist Warehouse few doors up where I could get a good coffee and this place was highly recommended. Just as well I followed her recommendation because the coffee is good and so is the food. We must have tried 7 or more dishes and every one of them was tasty. Compliments to the chef! Waitstaff are super friendly. I've found that on weekends this place is pretty popular. Grateful this place exists as it's difficult to find a good cafe/restaurant in this area.

Walk-in breakfast for 4 adults today. We were greeted and seated with ease with special attention noted when it was silently noticed and resolved without our mentioning anything about us being cold with the door open. The menu had many options that made it difficult to choose as it all sounded (and smelled) so good! I ordered the Mexican breakfast with the intention of sharing with my husband who had ordered the smashed avocado. As soon as my plate hit the table I knew I wouldn’t be sharing willingly and he would have to wait until I was full (which I knew I would be well before I finished my serving!). Probably the best ever breakfast I’ve ordered out.

The coffee was very good. The coffee portion were generous and the service were awesome. The staff were very nice and kind. Considering it is a popular cafe and the seating area is at times crowded, i would recommend to be mentally prepared to wait for a few mins for a dine in seat.

Veryyy welcoming environment, the staff are super friendly and kind. The food comes out so fast only about 5-10 minute wait. Pretty Good proportions and the average pricing. Would 100% come here again on the day to day.

I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience at this cafe. My friends and I waited for nearly an hour to receive our food, which is unacceptable considering there were other tables that arrived after us and were served before us. The lack of communication and transparency from the staff only added to our frustration. When we voiced our concerns about the lengthy wait time, instead of an apology or acknowledgment, we were met with disdainful looks and eye-rolling from the staff member. What struck me the most was the complete absence of any attempt to rectify the situation or even offer a simple apology. It's disheartening to see such disregard for customer satisfaction. As someone who enjoys supporting local businesses, it pains me to leave this review. However, I feel obligated to share my experience to prevent others from enduring similar disappointment. I would caution anyone considering dining here to think twice and perhaps explore other options in the area

Excellent. I haven't been in the Dandenong area for about 20 years and it has picked up quite a bit. This place, The Publics Corner, cafe restaurant bar, has got everything. The cafe staff run the business professionally. Good job, well done! The egg bacon toasted sandwich was excellent!

One of the best to grab morning coffee to start a day. Tried Flat White small size $4 and it’s so smooth and mouthfeel combined with aroma.

I have been here last year and the service and food was good. Today however the service was not pleasant. We didn’t feel welcome at all, it felt as though the staff members didn’t want to be there and when we went to pay, the lady ignored us and kept talking to the young gentleman. Rather than simply saying “I’ll be with you in a second” the both ignored us and I actual walked back to the table to wait until another gentleman was up at the counter. Very disappointing considering the great service we got last year.

Worst experience with the female manager. I asked for a takeaway coffee and because it was busy she scoffed at me. She said i should wait and sit, however i wanted it take away. When i made a complaint about it, she said she doesn't care and i should go. Worst experience, not just for hospitality but general bad behaved.

Really rude barista today. Payed 7 dollars for a coffee and Im so upset that she would not remake the coffee as it was not upto my standard! But instead swirled it around with a wooden spoon and told me I have hands and that I can do it myself.

Lovely staff ,felt I was in Southbank

I just had the most fabulous dining experience at this restaurant! 😍 As a head chef in an Italian restaurant for over 4 years, I can confidently say that their mushroom and chicken risotto is exceptional. It takes a lot of skill to achieve the perfect texture, and they have truly mastered it. The risotto wasn't mushy or soupy like in many places; it had just the right consistency. Additionally, grilling the chicken before adding it to the rice adds a delightful smoky flavor that enhances the dish even more. As someone who has been cooking Italian food for a while, I'm not easily impressed, but this was beyond my expectations and one of the best risottos I've ever had. The steak sandwich was also outstanding. Keep up the amazing work, guys! Your culinary skills are truly commendable.
