The Civic Hotel is a nice place to have a drink. The atmosphere was nice. It's a little retro like a 1950 style diner.

COELIACS BEWARE!! They have items on the menu listed as gluten free, however they are cooked in the same oil as non-gluten-free food. Very misleading unless you ask. The seating and tables were worn and felt grimy. Expect a cheap pub feed, quality not terrible but not great.

Aye at the bistro and it was horrible. The deep fried fish was overcooked and wasn’t fresh, it was frozen pre made battered fillets. Would not recommend.

Lamb gyrros was good. Others weren't that keen on the schnitzel special. It is a good pub that celebrates the style of the building.

Nice pub

Just walked in to buy a beer off the street was going to have a meal and was confronted by a very rude staff member. I can’t believe that someone would treat customer like that. I don’t know what her name is, but it’s 2:19 in the afternoon.21st May. Staff member had blonde hair with a foreign accent, no name tag . I spoke to the manager who was aware of her bad customer service and witnessed our interaction. ( standing next to the staff member). The manager told me she would talk with the staff member but seemed reluctant to do it while I was drinking my beer. I would’ve thought an apology was in order while I was standing there for at least to offer me a free beer not that I would’ve taken. It already didn’t order any meals because of the behavior.

Regarding last night's event... the head of security was completely rude, without any preparation to perform his role! You should teach your employees how to treat a customer! I'm never coming back

Sick events and venue (Especially techno nights at Civic Underground), I strongly recommend!

I spent my time on the middle floor on a Saturday night. Dingy looking location, but staff was lovely. Upper floor was Asian fusion and tech house music. Lower floor was the nightclub with a dance floor and techier house music. Middle floor was Funk, Nu Disco, and a little R&B.

Sabine, the chefs and DJ foxxie were the best! Great night drinking and dancing So so chilled. Just fabulous!

Great traditional pub with top notch food on offer.

We love to come here during lunch time on weekends, watch races and games , they would project games on a big screen as well. Cocktails are really good , many gluten free options, haven’t had issues with food or service. The only thing I would add, bathrooms need a little maintenance. Will be back :) thanks team!

Terrific venue for organising large group bookings! Super helpful staff and friendly management who were delighted to book half the bar area hence highly recommend Civic Hotel for any flexible and casual large reservations. Will certainly keep in mind for future events.

I can recommend the salt and pepper squid. That was good. We went out as a family but this was more of a friendly pub hangout atmosphere ( nice and jolly, just not for us). The waitress just seemed more annoyed that we were ordering so we felt a little unwanted there. We did book a table but they didn't have anything organised just told us to sit wherever so not sure if booking is used here

Wow - the food is excellent and the gravy is the best ever - the best city pub food and friendly staff I’ve found….I don’t know how they make the gravy but this alone warrants a pop-in ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The food here is hit and miss, great staff, but the crackheads are too much and need to be removed on sight.
