Service was great and very friendly. The room was tidy and the location of the hotel was very close to the CBD.

It was okay. Only stayed for one night thankfully. I would not stay any longer as a girl because it’s kinda scary. Free parking was awesome. Had working a/c and the bathroom was very clean and spacious, that made me happy.

The room itself was clean and comfortable. The hotel was very difficult to find and hard to access. I didn't like there being no reception as we had a few problems, one being the milk provided was frozen and had nowhere to get a replacement. Too many stairs.

We stayed in room 33 Saturday night. Reception not attended entire weekend, so got keys from lockbox which was fine. What was not fine was that the door would not open from the inside, and only sporadically unlocked with the keycard from the outside. Luckily we are both young and thin, as we had to climb out the window to open the door from the outside once we realised the door wouldn’t unlock from the inside. Then we just left the door slightly open all night to avoid being locked in again. There was a safety chain but the latch was missing on the door so was essentially useless- meaning anyone could just walk into our room that night. Plus the window wound open so to be able to get out that way you have a maximum of about 30-40cm width- anyone older or even average weight simply would not be able to get out- and then what do you do? Call the unattended hotel desk? No emergency number in the actual room. What if there was a fire? I considered calling the emergency number they have at the reception door after we got out but thought- what’s the point? We knew it was fully booked that night as friends had tried to stay- so we would be stuck in that room anyway. No one at reception when we left of course so no one to tell about the issue in the morning to prevent it happening to someone else. So commodore regent hotel- fix room 33!

Very dissatisfied with most things about the motel. No basic bathroom necessities i.e hand towel,face clothes,shampoo / conditioner. No microwave, no plates or bowls, and only 4 tea bags provided. The bathroom sliding door would not close. The furniture including the bathroom mirror was very dusty..only good thing about the place was the hot shower. Not good value.

Great location close to town easy walk, was clean on arrival But we stayed 3 nights No service of the room first time I have had this happen , we are paying the same price for every night so a clean of the room would be nice . I think if you want a better review you need to employ more cleaners .

Excellent location, basic rooms and uninviting service. Very basic rooms and if your visit is during the weekend there is no reception. Word of warning to mac users: some of the power points were hard up against horizonal trim, mac power supplies wouldn't plug in. There were no plates or bowls, the room was very dusty, the free wifi didn't work on any of the devices we tried. Nothing in the room explains how or when to get help, there no information about what to do with dirty dishes, and the rooms are noisy (from other inhabitants, felt like thin walls and ceiling). No recycling bin was a surprise, but not something I'm basing my review around. The bathroom lock/latch didn't work and the room door only latched if pushed/pulled quite hard. I accept most (all?) my comments have been covered in other reviews but it felt important to provide mine as it seems a lot like many visitors are blinding giving this place 5 stars based on being near a park. The park accross the road is great to have, but that doesn't warrant a good review _for this establishment_.

Good place for a weekend trip and very reasonable pricing. Pros: perfect location, nice clean rooms, friendly remote check-in assistance, great shower, nice smelling bathroom products, biscuits and 2 milks provided. Cons: bed is EXTREMELY hard, no face washer/hand towel, only shampoo provided in shower (e.g. no body wash?), internet completely unavailable. Pros definitely outweigh cons and we will be back again. Hopefully beds will be updated before then! No fault of the management, however, room next door was occupied by several kids who considered it acceptable to run up and down the balcony, bounce on beds and slam doors constantly until 11pm.

Not bad overall, very clean and convenient. Great location. One thing is - they don't have a reception, we have a late flight, so we can't leave our bags there.

Yevett - person who answered our call at 9pm when we checked in room 8, was rude and passive aggressive. We called as the internal safety lock was broken in the room’s main door which didn’t make us feel secure at all. She said her solution is to make us move to other room where the problem was same. She claimed she was in training and her boss didn’t answer her call. It has been difficult for us after a long day and with our little one. We have to stay here tonight but I dont think we can sleep at all as it felt any one could simply come in at any time from out. DO NOT STAY HERE Update - the owner who responded must have missed the photo i posted but s/he decided to respond now in public but didn’t have a courtesy to look after us when we stayed in their hotel, LOCK in the second room was not working (second photo shows no hole to get the lock working) digital lock or this or that, does not matter. Also, this place is weirdly built, different levels with stairs only so we were moving our things from one room to another with our son in the middle of the night. The kettle in the room was mouldy YUCK

For the price point of $125 per night for a queen bed and a single bed. It’s fantastic, directly opposite the park anda short 300m walk into town and shops. Don’t spend huge money on a fancy hotel. Spend it on lovely restaurants out. Like Mewah Chinese

Very poor service. I had expected to have them a microwave and plates in the room to heat up our food as I had previously stayed in other hotels they had given us microwave. which is an essential part of every room. Very disappointed with their service. Would not recommend it.

Great affordable option for a night

We were getting in after dark on a Monday and only staying one night, so I didn't want to spend too much on a hotel. This one had a reduced price on Wotif so I grabbed it. I'm pretty happy with it for the price I paid, despite the lack of reception staff (they've remained contactless since COVID but I got an email with check in instructions). First night in a new place I usually like hotel staff on hand to suggest places to eat etc. but we managed on our own. Beds were comfy, the shower was hot and the parking was right outside the door, not a lot of stairs to navigate with our bags. It was what we needed for the night, and it was right across from City Park so the next morning I walked over and saw the monkeys. Only thing I didn't really like is there was some traffic noise from Brisbane Road, but it's not like there's too much and it doesn't start super early in Tasmania. Great option if you're watching pennies.

Very tired rooms however clean beds extremely uncomfortable, restaurant overpriced for average meals. Only upside of staying here is that is close to the CBD.

Very good location and close to the CBD. You can walk to the CBD and be there within minutes. There is also a park across the road from the hotel. A car park is also available onsite for those who want to drive directly to the hotel. The owners seem to respond quickly to enquiries as well. Rooms were clean. Bathroom seems quite modern too. This hotel has sufficient facilities for mid range budget customers.

We spent a few days here with my family, we booked two premium twin rooms which comes with a double bed and single bed. While my family was in the other premium twin room. We both agreed that both my double bed and my families beds both felt like we were sleeping on cardboard..i think it really needed a new mattress... It felt like you slept on the springs of the bed frame.. We ended up with very sore backs, sleeping on the beds for a couple of days, if we were lucky to sleep at all. Luckily we had a single bed too... The single bed was a little more comfortable than the double but still rock hard. The bed sheets were not the most comfortable either.. It felt very rough... I would personally bring my own as it's more comfortable and has a higher thread count. The table and surroundings were very dusty..it felt like someone hasn't stayed in the room for a while.. We had to wipe the dust off the tables and furniture. On the last day we double checked if we left anything behind and found a sock under the bed. Probably left behind by the previous guest... The wifi was super slow... I just ended up using my own data instead, at least it's more reliable. Please note there are no room service on weekends... only weekdays, luckily they gave us a few more towels when we arrived on the weekend. However if you want to use your own towel it won't be an issue at all. The shower and bathroom is good size. The hairdryer is quite weak...its the ones that are attached to the wall. On a good note it is at a very good location with plenty of parking, walkable to cafes, pubs the park is literally across the road. Depending which room you're allocated you may or may not get a view of the park. If my family didn't already book it I would personally rather spend more money and stay at a more comfortable hotel and enjoy the trip more.

Noone at reception as they send you a safe code to get your key which means they couldn't be bothered with guests,,room was very basic & extremely overpriced,this accommodation would be no good if you have any mobility issues as it sits on a steep hill with bumps & steps. Cannot recommend & will not return.

When you arrive, at 3pm in the afternoon as there is no one around. you have to go through all the envelopes looking for your name to find the keys to your room. How is that respecting people's privacy? so everyone has access to everyone's keys to your room? ||the door didn't close properly. ||The bed was comfortable but whatever you do don't look under the bed it was disgusting. it had Lolly wrappers tissues all sorts of stuff.||I even sent an email to the staff but with no reply.

Thank you, Commodore Regent for the 3 nights. When I arrived I checked everything and I don't think there is a problem here. Even my friends said it is worth it. I'll be back soon

Quite, comfortable room. Comfy bed, would stay again

I like the good service of the information desk up the front, the location is easy to access and the town is tourist-friendly. But the hotel room on the upper floor has stairs and before the stairs there is a concrete bump which can lead to trip Hazard. Overall I would like to say that I recommend this hotel.

Great location opposite City Park. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff were most friendly and helpful. A microwave was provided on request.||The verandah outside our room provided a good view of the city, which would be nice in better weather.

We stayed here for one night. Our room was comfortable enough, although the wifi signal was very weak.|Not all rooms have a park view, we were up in the back block and looked out onto a car park and another block of rooms.|There were no complimentary toiletries (shampoo and conditioner) in the bathroom so if you plan to stay here be sure to bring your own.||On the positive side, our room was very quiet and the reception staff were very helpful and friendly. It is also in a good central location, across from the lovely city park and within easy walking distance of pubs, cafes and restaurants.

Where do i start didn't get the room I requested, staff most apologetic the next day no one on premises when we arrived offered to move us but was to hard we were only there for 2 nights. The last straw was we asked to book in for tea at the restaurant on site told not too busy come in when you are ready, which we did only to be told can you come back in an hour, which would have been 8pm to late for us to eat. So our review will not be good

Sink in the bathroom is not draining and hence couldn't use it

This must be the only hotel in Australia that charges more to book direct than through a 3rd party. I stayed twice because of the location, once through Air BnB and once directly. The Air BnB offer seems to be a sublease through a guy who rarely responds to messages and the front desk don't deal with his bookings. I tried to extend my first visit but he wouldn't respond so I just left. The 2nd stay I thought may be better booking direct but they wanted to change me more $16 than online. They honoured booking.com's price when challenged but this seems very poor practise. The staff were kind and the room was clean but I wouldn't be bothered again.

Wonderful friendly staff. Comfy beds and very clean rooms. Close to the city and great value.

We stayed here for 4 nights Sunday to Thursday and not once was the room serviced. We ran out of toilet paper, sugar and milk. The reception is only open certain hours and they were not helpful. I mentioned to the reception that the room hadn't been serviced and he said they had no cleaners on. The room next door was the same and was told it would be cleaned on Friday. They had booked out. So instead of cleaning rooms when empty they leave them dirty and put people in the cleaned rooms. For a place to have 44 rooms and no cleaning staff, not a good image. Won't go back and wouldn't recommend to anyone. Also bathroom doors kept on sliding open and light from outside keeps room bright, had to put a shoe against the door, room next to us had to do the same. Would give this place 1/10.

We arrived late and were surprised to find a decent hotel room waiting after our last few nights in Queenstown and Strahan.||Decent beds, clean, plenty of parking, wifi password provided without asking, updated bathroom.||||With so few people at the hotel, I would have preferred a room on the ground floor and wasn't sure why we were made to haul our luggage up to the second floor. ||||Regardless, the room was nice and the staff very helpful.

Rooms are tired and disappointed that despite signage is up saying to leave towels on bathroom floor if needing change with “please make up room” sign at the door by 10am, room wasn’t made up. Sadly too, no one was at reception to request for extra towels. Kettle had foamy green bits in it and ironing board was broken. Top location and expected more from good reviews, but never returning.

Clean and good value but very limited reception hours on weekends. This was a problem for another customer who was not able to use a mobile phone. I tried to help him but the reservation number displayed at reception was a dud. The lack of reception staff may be a problem for others with special needs.

We had a meal with family, everything was beautiful. So pleased.

Stayed 3 nights. ||||CLEANING - appeared clean on arrival but bed had long female like hair in it. Coffee cups were stained.||||The room was never cleaned once. Complained on day 2 and I was offered a towel and basically told bad luck, you didn't specifically ask for cleaning!!||||||1st night - drunken idiots yelling and carrying on till 2am.||2nd night - the drunken screaming, smashing glasses and slamming of doors went onto 6am!!||3rd night - not surprisingly tbe place was near empty Ava the drinks were gone. ||||STAFF - I got the impression that it's run by the owners and they genuinely couldn't care a less! They smirk at complaints, don't care about guest behaviours and suggested I call the police if the noise continues at night. Zero interest. ||||The photo is of smashed drinks glass from Saturday night's all night drunken party. It was taken at 12pm Sunday. I ended up cleaning it up myself for safety sake. (The office was locked all morning)

Hands down the worst place to stay in tazzie. $14 for a cereal breakfast with off orange juice. We booked 2 nights and they only booked us for one but had to still pay for 2. Staff were rude. Really disapointed it really made a rough start to the holiday. Plenty of beautiful accom near bye with great people
