Sitting on the water at Sandy Bar Cafe feels like being on holiday. The staff are friendly and efficient, the food is delicious and the vibe is great. Heading here is definitely a treat.
Absolutely amazing cafe on the water. Fabulous food and warm and attentive staff. The view is beautiful and a bonus is to be able to bring your furry pup. Highly recommended 😊
A great spot for an outdoor breakfast or lunch. Only shame is that it closes before cocktail hour. Please open till 5pm for wine and beer!
Friendly people, great food (loved the Portuguese wrap!!) and lovely place overall. Also; great cookies. Perfect place after a long walk from Manly
This beautiful cafe has an atmosphere of its own. The location is dog friendly, with beautiful views and delicious food. Every staff member was enthusiastic and welcoming, and the service was top-notch. Definitely a spot I’ll return to regularly!
Menu has very limited vegetarian or gluten free options. Dishes not as pictured on the online menu. $26 for this average tasting poke bowl is outrageous. Ordered chips as well, but after asking the staff twice and after 45 minutes had passed we asked for a refund. Very disappointed in this experience, and needless to say we will not be coming back.
Beautiful location with great food and coffee
Had lunch here a few weeks ago. Awesome setting by the tranquil water. Burger was delicious, generous portions. My soy cappuccino was yum, so much so I had to go back for a second. Great spot, highly recommended.
Awesome local cafe serving great coffee and delicious food. The venue is beautiful and the staff are welcoming and friendly.
Expensive, poor service and terrible food. $11 for a milkshake. 😱. Food order taken by a different person every time and it feels like they are taking their very first order. Invariably they get it wrong. We usually just have breakfast there. Eggs were cooked with what tasted like caster oil. No seasoning. Inedible. Kitchen looks like it was filled with junior staff. Went there a couple of weeks ago and had to wait an hour for food. Ended up asking for a refund and leaving hungry. Not a great way to start a relaxing Sunday. Despite its ideal location this is one very run down and poorly run cafe, run by junior staff. Much better options in the area.
Tucked away near Clontarf Reserve, their is parking and a great playground nearby. This is a great place to stop on the Spit to Manly walk for a decent coffee, and a good selection of cold drinks, or a beer! Easy menu with something for everyone and cute kids’ burger meal. Friendly staff.
Great pokie bowl
New owners have definitely stepped up the coffee and food from before. Such a great location and very friendly staff.
Sort out your coffee *$16.17 for 2 coffees to be exact! Expectations are impossible to meet when charging like that.
What a wonderful find this is in the most stunning location!! Leena and family offer friendly, personal service and great food every time! It really is a perfect lunch spot, and in my view rivals anything found in the eastern suburbs. Highly recommend and will return again and again!! ☺️☺️☺️
$8.50 for a half empty box of chips is CRIMINAL! And the audacity to charge me for sauce?!? ILLEGAL!
We came as 2 separate couple. The food was ok, we had fish tacos slightly on the smaller side. Portuguese chicken wrap and sweet potato fries x 2 and the burger. One of our wraps was 20 mins later than the others. The service staff are mostly young. Which is not a problem, but I didn't see a whole lot of urgency when we were waiting. They were bad, though. Beautiful spot to take the views in, would go back again. Note to management: Some of your lower white chairs look uncomfortable and at a weird level to eat at. Think these put people off eating at these, think you miss an opportunity to have better seating and get more covers. Also, it was all ok.... You have such an amazing spot where you have loads of parking and easy to get to. There is an opportunity to be really good at a couple of things in order to attract people. Maybe serve frozen margs, or choose something on the menu to be signature that is really good. That puts you on the map. Cafes that are doing really well are going viral because they have a small but amazing menu. Also, you have a ton of walkers/runners go past you everyday with the Spit to Manly walk. Us included, maybe advertise something healthy to talk on the walk? A freshly squeeze green juice. The Cafe is lovely, but just lovely. Nothing specia like, I think if you really know your ideal customer and serve them, you would have a line all the time.
Great location. Lovely food. Good if you like dogs, not so good if you don't. We were there for a special occasion and my husband got his meal, had finished it and was ready to leave and I still didn't have mine. No utensils so we ate with our hands. The dogs all seemed to have bowls of water though, one even had his up on a table. I think it's a dog cafe.
Great trendy cafe located right on the water. Staff were so friendly and the food was amazing! Would highly recommend - definitely my new go-to cafe 🤭
Great spot to pause before continuing the walk to Manly.
Nice food, great coffee, friendly staff in a sensational spot.
My fav Thanks
This would have to be one of Sydney’s hidden gems. Tucked away around from Clontarf beach, and offering outstanding views of the upper reach of the Harbour. Warm and friendly welcome from the owner, great food at reasonable prices, and licensed as well. Parking can be a challenge but a walk never hurt anyone. The fact that it is dog friendly is a real bonus too. Highly recommended!
I stopped on the Manly to Spit walk. The fish tacos were small, but excellent. I ordered with the QR code. It was slow and it would have been much easier to order at the counter or with the waiting staff.
Beautiful spot and nice enough food. However must get the award for Sydney’s meanest poke bowl
Situated across from the Spit with atmospheric and relaxing water views, this cafe provides a wonderful weekend spot to relax and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat. Just off the beach and picnic area in Clontarf, it provides a comfortable space and decent food. We tried the fish tacos and cheese burger. Both were delicious and the ingredients were fresh, so much so we would've appreciated a tiny bigger portion of each! Service was also quick and efficient - you do need to order at the front though which isn't too bad and is the norm at many similar cafes. Clearly a local favourite for humans and dogs alike (with plenty of water bowls around for the little friends), the establishment hits much of what you'd expect from a cafe. Recommended and would return!
Located in Clontarf, Sandy Bar café offers magnificent waterfront views, excellent cuisine, and a welcoming atmosphere. The food maintains a high standard, with each dish delivering freshness, yet the breathtaking views and the opportunity to unwind by the water's edge truly steal the spotlight. Additionally, the establishment is pet-friendly, welcoming dogs to join in the experience. Overall, what more could you ask for in a cafe? It's worth a visit. I give it five stars.
We have a great afternoon there last week. Dogs were very welcomed, food and service was good.
We love it here! The food is always great, the service is fast and staff are super friendly and helpful. Coffee is very good. It's also really dog friendly, which is great if you've been for a walk or swim at the dog beach next door. We look forward to our weekly visit.
Everything was perfect but the music was to loud! impossible to have a conversation with my elderly friends 🙈🙉
This place is average and expensive.
Beautiful spot for brunch.
Extremely small food portion. I ordered a poke bowl with salmon, for which I paid ~$30. The serving included probably 3 spoons of brown rice, an almost comical amount of veggies and a piece of ~60 grams of salmon. The whole dish was like an entree and I felt ripped off. That said, the views and atmosphere were nice and the coffee good. I would be back to sit down for a coffee but never again for food. I hope management takes this review seriously and reconsider their portion sizes, to get a better balance between running a profitable business but also giving customers decent value for money.
I’ve had quite a few meals and drinks at this cafe and the people and wonderful location are amazing. Keep it going guys.
The staff are helpful and very friendly.
So incredibly bad, don’t waste your time and money! Waited 30 mins for take away coffee that ended up being wrong and they wouldn't change it. $6 for a tiny coffee (when I ordered L) and they were so rude about the wait and didn’t care that they made the wrong thing and told me “I’m not the owner so don’t ask me about the size of coffee cups”
I love eating here. It’s literally my favorite place! The service is wonderful. Especially that Krishna Gupta.
Worst service in Australia. Waited for 45 minutes for a pie and sausage roll to be heated up. Plus one margarita. We are still waiting. Don’t recommend. Won’t be back
Nice view from this cafe which is walking distance from Sandy Bay. Bar code ordering is not available although the banner is shown at the entrance.
Nice fish tacos, dog friendly, vfriendly staff 😋 great spot for a wine 🍷
Nice food in a beautiful setting. We would have liked to order something from their breakfast menu over lunch, but alas no overlap. The parking is within the reserve and you pay by the hour (expensive).
I think the coffee needs to be improved to justify the price and service is a bit slow...but it's a lovely little spot, dog friendly as well. B&E roll was delicious.
A beautiful spot. Amazing views, friendly staff, delicious coffee and yummy breakfastHighly recommended. Expect to see a lot of unleashed dogs
Outstanding ambiance with picturesque views, friendly staff, great food at reasonable prices, and many freshly baked goods.
Good food with great views
Beautiful food, beautiful views, beautiful people
great food great vibes
delectable cafe
food was absolutely delightful. there was an extremely nice young man working there, that created one of the most magnificent milkshakes i have ever consumed with incredible service.
Very tasty food and excellent service. Will definitely be coming back
w
great experience all round very deserving of 5 stars
Solid food, solid service, great place to go if in the area, lovely view over the ocean.
Great Food and service, Also beautiful spot to have food looking on to the Ocean.
Great pricing and food is exceptional.
Warm and welcoming - seated us at lovely table to enjoy the sea breeze. Poke bowl was great. Highly recommend
This place is calming and has nice food. but i did find a piece of hair.
Good place for eating out in the sun when is not raining.
Love the spot over the water and dog friendly but we waited over an hour for breakfast and our dog was getting restless. Wait time is ridiculous, I think more kitchen hands are needed here. I’ve been here a couple times and the wait time has been long each time. First time was about a half hour wait this time was OVER an hour for 2 things - a bacon and egg roll and a big breakfast. Food is also mediocre and a overpriced, I got the big breakfast and it was not very big - I’m not a big eater in general and it didn’t make me full at all. This is pictured. Definitely not worth $25 and over an hour wait.
We really enjoyed our breakfast here on Sunday. Great food, lovely view. Perfect place to bring your dog- very pet friendly.
Disappointed, arrived and ordered at 11:50 , food came out at 12:30.... stagged. If you wanted to eat all together in a group this is not the place to go. For the price you pay and time you wait , the food does not meet that standard.
Worst experience, unfortunately the view doesn't make up for a very poor level of service, extremely slow and when my salad arrived it was three lettuce leaves and an extra $7 for three over cooked falafels, when I complained to the staff all they could say its because of the owner and they will let them know, no offer of a refund or another salad, the staff certainly had some attitude, ruined an otherwise great day, avoid this place like the plague! By the way who are these local guides that give this place 5 stars are they kidding, they must be on drugs or on the payroll as it's the only reason to rate this place anymore than a one star!
Ordered via QR code and waited 45mins for the food even after I finished coffee. Staff explained that too busy whereas tables are not even full. No apology or whatsoever. Absolutely disgraceful!
The service is worse than zero star. We arrived the cafe and placed our food order at 1:23pm. We were still waiting for my steak sandwich after half an hour. Then asking a staff for checking the order, but we had not received any updates. As I could see the other customers received their beef sandwich even they ordered behind us, checking with another staff. The darama time came. The staff said everyone was waiting 30 min for their food because they were busy without any apologies at all. I even could not see any apologies on her face. She was like I didn't care. Finally, my steak sandwich came in after around 50min waiting. The more interesting thing was our fish tacos came again. I was saying we already had the fish tacos as appearartly the empty plate was on the table. The staff(the same staff told me 30mins wait was normal before) was like do you need it or not? Just take it as complementary. I was so shocked and didn't know what to say at that moment. I assumed they actually missed our order. And they even did not try to give us an explanation. The servie was extremely bad and unacceptable. I am not sure if I was treated like this due to they are racist (I am Chinese) or I don't have a boat. Hope they are not! Please avoid this cafe in case your weekend will be ruined.
Terrible service, cold food, rude staff and no appropriate cutlery. Iced chocolate was filled with all ice and no milk for $11. Would rather have eaten the sand at the beach instead of wasting $80. Total rip off
I had brunch here with a friend on a week day. The place was quite empty so our service was fast. The gentleman at the counter is always very friendly and has a unique personality, he seems to be on a good mood every time I see him. I ordered the Summer Salad with a side of fries (at the risk of grabbing the seagulls attention) and an Aperol Spritz from the fridge. My friend grabbed the bottle of wine and ordered the Classic Cheeseburger that come with fries so seagulls where on us. I quite enjoy my dish and my friend seems to have enjoyed hers too. The place is beautiful, it makes the experience a much nicer one. Dogs are allowed here which is a great move since the chip eater birds can be a bit annoying sometimes and these dogs seems to scare them easily. Overall a great place to visit even for a cup of coffee which I have had plenty there.
Beautiful view, delicious food and great service
It's about the view! Like every Bird & Bear location, it's got gorgeous seating with waterfront views. 🐶 Dog friendly. Don't trip on the dog bowls! ⛱️ Fabulous setting. ☕🥐 We had takeaway, nice selection of pastries and good coffee. On the Bondi to Manly (and Spit to Manly) walk. The aren't many cafes on this northern part of the route, so grab the opportunity while you can!
Great location
Highly recommend the fish tacos. Also the iced coffee had ice cream in it which was so delicious
Nice place to stop during the manly to spit walk.
Was really disappointed with my avo toast. Avo was not seasoned at all and the bread it came on was razor thin. I had to ask for another piece of toast. Disappointed.
Great location 👌.....for a quiet drink or coffee.....and flavoursome meals.....on the deck overlooking Clontarf Beach and marina....we went mid week .....I'd imagine it would be very busy on weekend
The view is the only nice thing about this place. The very basic food options are already not cheap and to add Sunday surcharges and c card fees on top of that left a bad taste in my mouth
