Ice cold Reschs on tap mmmmmmm
A great pub to have a drink before an event or after going to the Town Hall. It's one of the nicest CBD pubs.
Great food, great prices and the service was pretty good too
Best piss of my life
No complaints. Excellent food and beer prices, and a great atmosphere.
Good place to grab lunch in the city
A friendly pub
Good vibes late at night
Great staff, great atmosphere & great food.
Arrived and waited 5-10 mins for staff to stop talking to each other. No greetings and felt we were an inconvenience to them. Staff all where unfriendly We had an our 3 yr old grandson with us and he wasn’t allowed in the hotel where you book in. Are we meant to leave him outside on his own.? Sort out a better system if arriving with children. So not able to have dinner there after travelling all day. No lifts so if you have heavy luggage you have to go up lots of stairs. Location was good but very noisy and room had no block out curtains so light all night. Rooms are small but ok but bathroom door is frosted so pretty useless. Would not recommend to stay there.
End of year work lunch last Thursday. 5 blokes, we all ordered chicken Parma separately but within a relatively similar time. Meals finally came one by one getting close on 45 minutes. Only 3 of the five meals came even though all were charged. Nothing else really matters. Management and staff need to get their act together and sort out their antiquated ordering system and under trained staff. Simply not good enough.
Disappointed
Room is too small and air circulation is bad, no ventialation,Cleaniness is not upto the mark, you can see debris from previous lodger at the edges o the room. Location is perfect and the owner is frendly.
I'll never set foot inside again. Bye
Good size room, clean, comfortable bed, excellent location - close to everything. Liked the wireless charger and USB port next to the bed. Great for an overnight stay in the CBD of Sydney when out celebrating a Christmas Party and saving the trip home. For the price paid it was value for money, they even gave us a voucher for $10 to use at the bar when we checked in which I thought was a nice touch.
Love staying here - the staff were so friendly and helpful- especially taking my bag up the stairs :)|Dinner in the pub very convenient- |And they held my luggage on departure day so I could wander the streets |Would stay again definitely | Thank you
Your Local Sydney City pub. Friendly and helpful staff. Accommodating for us to set up the space for an event(free of charge). We supported by buying food to eat
Happy hour in a bar with absolutely no vibe.Selection of beers, well a thumbs down.I suppose my problem was I don't gamble.
Awesome Guinness pie with mash and a pint of Guinness
Sehr zentral gelegen in Sydney.
Check in and out was super easy, the staff was were friendly and helpful, it was clean and comfortable and perfect for a one or two nights stay. I arrived quite late and it was then super convenient being able to come downstairs to the pub for dinner, which was delicious (I had the chicken schnitzel). It was also so easy to get to, a great location. Perfect accomm for what I needed as a solo traveller, would totally stay again.
Firstly, the aircon was not available to use.....it appeared to not working. |Secondly, the bathroom was not clean and quite dirty, which was really not acceptable for a hotel room which cost over $200 a night|The staff were friendly, however the overall experience was pretty ordinary
Unfortunately, for what we paid, the experience was quite dissapointing. Not only was the aircon not working, but the shower and handbasin were not clean, quite filthy tbh. The staff were friendly, but the overall experience was dissapointing
Just used the bar here towards the end of a night out; was calm, friendly and altogether an enjoyable expereince.
Great location, a pub / restaurant on the ground level with good beer &food. Friendly staff. Rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.
Had the bangers and mash with gravy. Will base this review on three criterion: the bangers, the mash, and the gravy. The gravy was gravox, the mash was instant and the bangers were from the town hall metro. Authentic Irish experience.
This was the first time staying at the Criterion for 5 nights. |Our experience was not great. We had several attempts to have our room serviced. The ensuite| which is extreamly small and has no screen on the shower, allowing water to go everywhere. The room smells musky and mold in the shower.|We found rubbish under the bed.|The windows have been fixed closed preventing fresh air as it really does need it.|This is our review on one room which was rm 6 and hopefully doesn't reflect all the other rooms.|On a positive note the young female manager did come and check out our concerns. She promised to have our rm serviced the next day which it was. She did take photos of the shower with no screen. If you have problems with stairs, don't stay here.|The bar area is great.|Bar staff were very friendly.|The hotel is well situated to the rail network.
Nice place. If you’re into sports you’ll love it
Room was small but excellent value for the $200 per night charge. Location is amazing a good walk to the Opera House and Circular Quay and Darling Harbour and only a quick walk from Town Hall station. Everything was spotless and the staff were great. Would definitely stay again for a one or two night stay. If you can’t walk up 49 stairs don’t stay here, there is no lift
Điểm lưu trú tuyệt vời.
Friendly staff. Good range of beers. Good sports bar and Bistro downstairs. Good location and a city favourite
Criterion Hotel Sydney is well situated being only a short walk from Town Hall Station, QVB Building and 1 stop on City Circle from Central Station. This was ideal for me. Room was very clean, comfy bed, TV and own ensuite. Only thing to know is there are stairs to access rooms but that was ok for me.|Had dinner in the down stairs bistro area which has a good pub menu. Ordered the steak sandwich which with chips was plenty for me and was very nice. |Staff were friendly and helpful.|I would recommend this hotel.
Very good and convenient location, but it’s kind of noisy because of the road work.
Very good and convenient, but maybe because of road work of Sydney, which makes m
Quite happy with their service . There is pub in the main floor . Will come back
Great location. Helpful staff on check in. Room was clean and comfortable. The original features of the building added to the ambience. For the price in Sydney's CBD, the accommodation was perfect. It is not unusual to have stair access only in this type of heritage building so I didn't see that as a disadvantage.
Great price for location, helpful staff, clean room, comfy bed, keycard access, complimentary tea/coffe (shared), separate entry than the pub entry. Only complaint would be the shower pressure and short shower curtain (bathroom is self-contained within room), but not a deal breaker. Also big wall-mounted TV. I can't see why the negative reviews except people wanting perfect central Sydney accom without paying for it.
The room smelled, the location is not good and it does not make you feel safe.
I had drinks here and it was good

Downstairs is much nicer than upstairs and the bathroom is clean. You can't ask for more from a city pub.
Said they were open til late - bouncer said no
There are no lifts. So if you're carrying heavy or oversized luggage, you'll carry it for quite a flight of stairs. The staff service varies from OK to great, depending on who's on duty. There's a table for complimentary coffee or tea which we enjoyed. The rooms are small with the bath & toilet inside (takes up space inside the room). There are no chairs, just a small bedside table. If you're a company of two and both have big luggages, then the room will definitely feel cramped. If you're just staying for sleep, would definitely say it's a good enough place and the location is close to everything. If you want to relax or your stay is a mixed staycation+vacation, then this is not for you. There's a bar downstairs and there's always a few taxis waiting downstairs in case you need one.
It was very well located in the city center. The room was very beautiful, comfortable and clean. The Brazilian manager who helped us was extremely helpful and kind. I have nothing but compliments for my stay at this hotel.
Small room small bed but very comfortable for one night. Management were very accommodating because my hubby wasn’t well and had to see a doctor for high blood pressure and the hotel allowed us to stay until 3.00pm when he felt well enough to travel. A big thank you
Lovely room with shower everything I needed. Nice decor, clean comfortable.. television WiFi hair dryer iron.. There was no kettle in room , but there was a communal area with coffee machine, milk etc , which I refilled many times that morning after a long night in the Sydney opera house 😀☕️☕️☕️
Great steak
The bistro is a great area to relax and have a chat in. They sell Guiness and Reschs-bonus!
Honestly should have paid an extra few dollars a night for a proper hotel. Upon arrival we had the coldest greeting from staff but whatever, everyone has bad days. Then we come to learn that there are 49 stairs to climb every time we want to get to our room. That means 49 stairs with your luggage as the person checking you in races ahead of you leaving you embarrassingly out of breath. It also means that after a whole day of exploring the city, you dread coming back to your room because you need to climb those stairs again. I would also recommend not staying here with someone unless you are entirely comfortable with them watching you go to the toilet and have a shower. The strange shower pod they have installed in the room has a terrible frosted glass finish that may as well not be there. I could handle all of this until every night at 10pm on the dot, jackhammering construction began beneath the hotel. It shook the whole building and continued each night until roughly 11:30pm...all on weeknights. It's obviously not the businesses choice to have this happen at this exact time, however they could advocate for their customers and ask for this to happen earlier in the night, refuse bookings during this period or even just give us a quick heads up that we wouldn't be able to sleep at an appropriate time on a Tuesday night. Thanks for the horrible stay.
Good place to watch Sports. 🍺🍻🍺🍻
Just popped in for a quick bite, well been here longer than intended. The bar atmosphere is just so chilled. Good food, lunch was full and afternoon tea it's filling up again. I had a plate of chips for $10 and a fish taco for just $7. That fish taco was absolutely, awesome, delicious, and amazing. If you are here for lunch you must be sure to order the fish taco. I just ordered one piece because I had order other things as well. But damn it is a damn good dish and which I had ordered more but I had other things... Lol
The room’s AC is centrally controlled, they set the air condition to off. The room was sealed, it was uncomfortably hot as hell.
Unfortunately the A/C was not working. The shower head broken so couldn't be used. No tea or coffee cups available, although advertised. Jack hammering beneath the room all night, I appreciate that hotel has no control over that but maybe offer another room! No one around to seek assistance from.
Nice place for a drink as long as you don’t go when meu are in, if you do go in when they are don’t expect a quiet drink 😂🤪
Just dropped in for a steak, quick service and beautiful meal, overall great experience
The female manager who worked on the 30th July at night was highly rude and unprofessional. Being stupidly sarcastic towards my friend whilst we were wrapping up 2 farewells who were leaving the country was uncalled for and a plain poor attitude. It goes a long way to just be nice. You're such unhappy woman and I pray for you to get humbled. Ta
有折扣非常便宜的飯店,離火車站只要兩分鐘非常近,而且附近有輕軌,可以去許多地方,交通方便,服務設施也很好,提供咖啡和茶
I had the Monday bangers and mash for $15......was good for the price point!
Great stay.
Prime location for light luggage traveller, there’s no lift in the building, so is not suitable for heavy traveller.
Great location. Room we had was tiny with the double bed up against the wall. Tiny ensuite
Nice hotel good location near to town hall train station... Nice pub below.. if you traveling with many luggages have have to carry up no lift to bring your luggage up. If you want to call for Uber then hotel unable to pick you too. You have to move up ABIT at Pitt Street
Decent pub but very busy with location
Beautiful hotel in great location, very friendly staff and rooms and amenities were lovely. Would definitely stay again
Don’t bother going here, the bouncers are clearly uneducated and on a power trip, came here after one drink at a friends concert and he allowed 3/4 service without any explanation, when we asked why he had no response, and we asked his name and he said I don’t need to tell you .. the bar was dead .. these types of ‘security’ are why Sydney’s nightlife is diminishing. Do better. If the management would like to reach out I have a photo of the security’s badge.. poor representation of your venue
Made a dinner reservation for Tuesday 28 may due to the website looking like a nice Irish hotel for dinner. What a big disappointment. The menu was nothing like a good old Irish pub and when we arrived nothing was prepared for us. The menu had a choice of about 12. The staff even had to ask a couple to move to make room for us. There was a bar down stairs but not open and we had to walk up stairs to order our meals and drinks. The place as advertised on website is not what you get. Recommend not going here. I asked for steak Medium/well and it came out medium/rare
It was such a great time staying at this hotel. Everything was so close and was easy to find place to eat . The room itself was comfortable enough . I stayed there for 4 nights .
3 star for good location. Zero for room and service. I mistakenly booked this hotel for my mother based on Agoda reviews (probably fake). Receptionist mistook my paid booking for someone that has not paid, and almost turn my mother away. There was NO LIFT facility. Which hotel in a big city like Sydney in 2024 that does not have a lift!!! When my mother asked about the lift, the receptionists raised her voice at her and said it’s already been mentioned on the website. What website!!! Room is tiny and bed is right next to the toilet door. Noisy pub downstairs and roadworks outside all night, plus fire alarm going off in the middle of the night just summed up this worst hotel experience. Never again.
Love this place. It’s basic but pristine. The staff are really friendly, and I have everything I need at a Stella price. Location is incredible, I’ll def stay here again.
Had lunch today and the service was so good and the food soooooo yummmm. Definitely going to stop here again. Thankyou for the service girl working behind bar and serving at the bistro
Great pub especially on Anzac day
Thieves! very bad service, employees are unhelpful and they stole from me. Do not recommend staying here unless you want to lose money.
Didn’t stay in the accommodation, but I had dinner. I ordered the Irish stew and ended up with the wrong order, someone else got my order. The other person ended up eating what I ordered, and what I got was a beef and Guinness pie, which was quite nice. When I realised I had the wrong order, the bay tender was very apologetic and offered me something else with my dinner, which is something I’ve never been offered. I did just ask for a drink which I was happy with. Excellent customer service.
Had a meal at lunchtime on Monday. The Irish Stew was on special [only $18 on Mondays]. DELICIOUS. Staff are friendly & attentive. Close to Town Hall Station.
Enjoyed lunch, having the Southern Fried Chicken burger and a couple of cold Reschs pints. The food, beer and service is always good at the Criterion. One of my favourite Sydney pubs and looking forward to my next visit. Recommended.
Loved the Kilkenny? Now they got rid of it. Beef nacho is pretty good. Still my favourite pub in CBD.
