Very good food good service
Lunch okay, nothing out of the ordinary
Great for a family meal. Kid friendly
My family and I attended here on the 8th of February for a shared birthday dinner. We made a booking ahead of the dinner to ensure we could be catered for. We all arrived between 7PM and no later than 7.30PM as we had some late arrivers. 2 hours, multiple drinks and hungry kids later, we were finally being served our dinners. My family and I consisted of 11 people that night. We didn’t order dessert - we provided our own cake as it was a birthday. After all the waiting, the food was actually very average. I had dry pork with some bread, others had dry or overcooked seafood, steak… It was overly disappointing. The wait staff were lovely girls and we were aware it wasn’t their fault. We also are aware that things happen and sometimes it takes slightly longer to plate up or cook - we are human. But 2+ hours is unacceptable ! We will not be returning unfortunately.
After waiting over 2 hours for our meals to be served we had lost our appetite and mine was cold which didn’t help. We approached the manager at the 2 hour mark as we had until then no communication with the staff. Manager said they were busy, it was now 9:15pm and most tables had been vacated and everyone else had finished. NO apologise, no compensation, no care.
I ordered the Salt and Pepper Squid/Calamari with Fries and Salad.. To be honest l was very disappointed, the Calamari had no taste, had to actually add salt to the Calamari. The Fries were very crunchy and definitely over cooked, after eating 4-5 left the remainder. The salad literally had no flavour.. l like to judge food by whether l would come back.. It's a resounding no" from me...😥"
Absolutely no complaints hoping to come back soon 👍
Very friendly staff and great service Highly recommended 👍
The food was the big disappointment. Roast of the day included Yorkshire pudding, a big plus for an ex-pom. But the dry, hard lump that was served up was sadly lacking
Had the roast turkey and Yorkshire pudding ,the turkey was very nice but cold ,green beans seemed raw ,potato's were ok but not roasted and the Yorkshire pudding was awful the chef needs to learn how to make them ,there not suppose to be rock hard and disintegrate when you cut into them ,a few more Christmas decorations would have been welcomed
Great pub. Great beer and food.
The butcher cut was over prise for wat 😳 you get, give me a lamb roast any time. I will not bother if I was you..
Really nice pub
So they now replied to this review with complete lies and false information. This all could have been avoided by the manager originally seating us by saying “hey sorry we are completely booked out but let me show you to out front area and seat you there… next time we would advise making a reservation. What I got was attitude and we actually went and sat ourselves and served ourselves. Lying on this reply has now taken it to a new level of bad service and I will now escalate. Horrible service as usual. Haven’t been for over a year because the food and service was so poor we always went to The Duck instead. We thought as they did some renovations we would try again. Service was so poor first we were waiting 15 mins to be seated and it wasn’t that busy I was with my elderly father I law who is handicapped and can’t stand for long periods so asked manager for a seat, copped attitude from him so we ended up eating in the pub. Food was well priced but poor quality and took forever and schnitzel was overcooked . Atmosphere was extremely noisey between house music doof doofing and people trying to talk over it. The pub itself doesn’t know if it’s a bistro, sports bar or pub, they renovated it but put tacky sports screens everywhere. My third time trying and third time disappointed. Manager said they seem to be busy and doing fine regardless of my complaints and I replied yes you are the only restaurant in the area so the bar is very low. Place had a Reno but was still filthy with food all over the floor as well. Won’t be back I’ll head to the Duck next time.
Beautiful hotel with a fantastic plant based menu. We enjoyed the vegan snitzel and Gnocchi. We had quick service, and the wine menu was good. We will definitely be returning. we also enjoyed our dinner in the Hills view room, which was nice and quiet we could actually talk to each other.
Some of the staff are always grumpy.
Didn’t eat but was in a small group all ate and said food was plentiful and amazing
Great vegan food my vegan wife loves it
Went to the Belair Hotel tonight. Our order was a kids Margherita Pizza, wagyu and Bacon Burger and Roast of the day which was Lamb. The pizza had a base that was very dense and tough topped with an uneven minimal spread of cheese and full circle slices of tomato and about half a dozen basil leaves. Being a kids pizza the basil leaves shouldn't have been on there. The wagyu Burger was overcooked. Staff should have asked how it should be cooked but didn't. The patty was burnt and very dry. The roast lamb was obviously slow cooked, but it was dry. The Yorkshire pudding was freezer to oven, over cooked on the outside, and whatever was happening on the inside is hard to describe other than too hollow with gluggy looking remnants of whatever it was supposed to be. Definitely not worth the prices we paid. Never ever returning again.
Great service, playground is a very unique selling point. We love coming here. Food is consistent so far
Solid food and drink and great prices vs local alternatives. Three different venues in one, with a family friendly out the back, sports bar to the side and a more modern joint out front. Not sure why its getting bad reviews, we love our local.
Perfect place to take the kids for a meal
Always like the food here, and they don't take too long to serve it either .
Service was friendly and competent. I'm impressed with the plant based menu. I had the vegan parmigiana which was pretty good. Another guest found their food was overcooked. The Hills view dining room has a lovely view although the seats are wooden with no cushions. The bistro was quite noisy but had a nice buzz to it.
Great venue for family outings
We met up for xmas dinner, and the hotel was great for the kids to be able to run around. The kids' menu was good, and the little entertainment packs were a hit. The food was a bit slow after ordering, but we had no issues. The only issue was when I ordered a pink gin fizz and they were out of an ingredient, they didn't mention the substitution, and it didn't taste good at all. Overall, a good experience.
Friendly, efficient good food, beer and wine
Great place for kids, watching sport and meals are decent. The kids play area is great. There are plenty of TV's for sport.
The bistro needs acoustic solutions. It was incredibly loud and there is no consideration within its latest renovation to dampen sound. All hard surfaces. If acoustic solutions were applied I’d then recommend it to others but for now, until this has been done my review will sit at 2 stars as I couldn’t hear anyone 3 seats down from me. I recommend “Plano bevel tiles” on the ceiling. Will gladly change my review to 4 stars if acoustics are treated. *after reply, I don’t think it’s understood that in a commercial entertaining environment there needs to be acoustic solutions as it is amplified by quantity of patrons rather then the customer should choose a different seating area. There has been no consideration within your latest renovation. I would suggest management should engage someone to help with this as constructive criticism*
From Evan derbyshire The place has a nice atmosphere with many seating options however as the old saying goes dont but chicken from a fish shop the pasta here is for lack of better words very yucky overly salty and had no depth in flavour. The pub food here is okay but please stay away from the pasta!
I really enjoyed the slow-cooked beef dish. It was perfectly cooked and served, the staff were professional and pleasant, the service was also very good, your rating is 5 with pride. Thank you
Pretty busy for a Monday night, with Christmas parties aplenty and a hive of activity inside. I had a party of three with me and all meals were sensational. I ordered the roast of the day (turkey) which came out like a massive thick slab of meat, a tall puffy yorkshire pudding and the typical trims. It was divine, not dry and I couldn't finish it. I had this with a Shaw and Smith, and my usual Gin and was met with a range of choices as is typical from most Adelaide pubs. My friends ordered calzone (which is about 12 inches long and 5 inches high!) which they shared, and they also ordered the pub favourite chicken schnitzel and shared that too - both to rave reviews. My friends enjoy a points system that the pub implemented and had a credit of $80 saved up, so that's a good incentive for those interested. The service was fast, friendly, plenty of staff and the kitchen is open and visible, so you can see the chefs all working hard. I return to the Belair year after year, even after i've left SA and am never disappointed. Plenty of parks too!
Friendly efficient staff, great atmosphere. I keep coming back here and have never been let down. 28years ago I even had my wedding reception here
Under cooked steak and burnt schnitzels.. 2 staples that a pub should know how to cook. Disappointed and hungry 😕
Service was great the place was nice but the meals were ok
I appreciated being able to take my partner from Europe to a new place in Adelaide. He enjoyed the view of the Adelaide Hills. We were attended to by friendly staff. My partner's prawn and crab fettuccine was excellent and I was delighted with my roast turkey!!! A lovely location with a great outlook - and wonderful decor. The room we were in would be great for a meeting of professionals of up to ?50 people - AV equipment/lectern n place. I will be returning again! Many thanks!
Ordered the turkey roast and didn’t receive the Yorkshire pudding on my plate as per the menu. Told the waitress, and there was no apology at all. Not impressed.
Although food and service was good ,I was dissappointed to see that when I went up to the bar to pay for drinks and my meal, I was not charged the prices as per menu list, but charge a % on top of my purchase because I used my card. For this reason, I probably won't be in a rush to return. The fees should be absorbed with the menu price. Rude to advertise a price for a menu item, only to slap an extra charge on there.
The upgrade is good, both facilities and food
The Belair always delivers high-quality, great tasting meals!
Great pub, great venue, service and delicious food. If you want a quieter spot sit near the pokies entrance ;)
They advertise wings a the main boards so I went to go order them but then I was rudely told that you have to be seated at the main bar. With children I prefer to sit in the bistro. I asked to talk to the manger and they never came.
Calling the food here average would be unfair to actually average places. Totally disappointed. Paying 26-28 dollars for Salt and Pepper squid and only getting like 6 pieces of squid if that is an absolute rip-off. Half the chips still had the skin on, were gross and barely lukewarm. With garlic bread maybe cut out the middle man and put the garlic on yourself and not make the customer do it...? I don't really know who that appeals to. Won't be returning.
Daily roast is tiny compared to what it used to be. I was devastated. As are the burgers. 😭
Came here a couple weeks ago on a Sunday for lunch with three others and all left very happy. Between us had a pizza, two burgers & a Parmy. All the mains were excellent but the standout was the Garlic Bread! Outdoor area was nice in the warmer weather & staff were friendly.
Great food but very loud
Had the roast of the day lamb $30 biggest rip off, the amount of lamb that was put on the plate wasnt even enough to feed a child.
Great place with great new renovations and friendly staff. Unfortunately the food all came out luke warm at best. Will go here again and hopefully have a better result next time.
Placed looked really nice on the inside, had a little charm to it but had visible crumbs and food left overs from past guest that hadn't been cleaned. When we arrived we couldn't order anything untill 12 o'clock. While waiting for food staff were being yelled at by what we assumed was the owner. After we received our food, one of us had to wait another 10 minutes for their meal, having all of us wait so we could eat together. The portions of the meals were ridiculously small for the prices (26$ for the small burger). It wasn't untill that meal was served we were told they were still waiting for the delivery, not to mention that they had the wrong fish of the day menus from before still out that we ordered. Never coming back again.
This place just seems to get better with each visit. For a large popular venue with a massive turnover, they get it so right.
All the meals, even the children's chicken nuggets, were overcooked and dry. Not what I expected for the higher than normal (for a Pub) price being paid.
We had lunch there today, 1st November, 24. Loved it. The staff WONDERFUL, I even rang the Manager to tell her so. Will beback for sure.cheers, Sandy.
We mistakenly booked the Hills view room. Hadn't eaten in there before. It's quieter than the main area, but there were flies buzzing around. For the first time ever, our guest who always orders steak, wasn't too happy with the quality of his meat. The rest of us were happy.
Ordering the good for 11 people with an online menu ourselves is a pain. Waiter didnt want to help. A restaurant that wants to be guest friendly does table orders by a real person that is knowledgable and helpful. Gintonic was just alcohol and no taste. Pizza also not good. Bad experience.
Disappointingly the worst pub meal I've ever been served. The salt and pepper squid was soggy and luke warm and tasteless. It was served with overcooked brown fries and tiny salad comprising a single rotten cherry tomato and a few wilted warm rotten lettuce leaves. Awful 😞 My friend's salad was the same, and her battered fish was very oily, but at least it was hot and crispy. We won't be back.
Food was average. Pay for what you get. Service bit under the pump. Nice place otherwise.
Love this place... food is outstanding, staff are great and with the recent face lift the atmosphere is excellent
Feeling very disappointed and unsatisfied going into the hotel today. I do not eat a lot in one meal so love when pubs accommodate a half serve of a schnitzel or allow me to order a kids meal for example. As my partner buys plenty of beers and a full meal to make up for me. However today when I went into the hotel, they refused to allow me to get a kids meal and upon frustration even refused me a half serve and was told the boss is strict on this, so me and my partner left and they missed out on $70 anyways, instead of just offering me a smaller meal … poor service!
Love the Belair Hotel. The Lamb Roast is 11/10....large serve & beautifully presented. Service is prompt & friendly.
Went there Friday night for the footy. Addie and Renea were slammed and didn't miss a beat. Both were exceptional in service and nothing fazed them.Well done Addie and Renae
Beef burger was dry Salt n pepper squid - where’s the rest for f it? Schnitzel was processed chicken Over priced for what was delivered
Eaten here 4-5 times in the last year. I’m yet to be impressed by a meal here. Schnitzels have had a weird taste like they had been kept too long. Other main meals have been good but servings always way too small. Lamb pizza is good but toppings too light on. Positives - location, atmosphere, great for kids. Staff friendly and helpful.
Good consisten quality pub food. Many seating areas. Family area has a good playground and tv room with beanbags. Great for the kids, plus good menu deals for family. It can get quite noisy due to large dining area. Book ahead .
We had a delicious meal last night but the only thing we would mention was that the Yorkshire Puds were dry and not easy to cut. Everything else ie the service and food was fabulous! We come often to the Belair Hotel and always enjoy the experience.
Renee and Sophie who were serving on Wednesday night were consummate professionals. Under the pump but worked brilliantly together. They should be a mainstay at this venue because they’re a massive asset.
