My brother has just come back from Tasmania and was raving about a late night bar, which had such a fantastic vibe and atmosphere. Being a big fan of English ska and reggae, l couldn’t believe it shared the same theme. when next was to visit, he said he would wear his 2 tone madness, specials,selector Tour t-shirt !

Nice cocktails

So glad we stumbled across Rude Boy when we were looking for a late night drink and snack. The popcorn chicken and sweet potato fries hit the spot. The cocktails were inventive and delicious. The staff were great too.

A real find of a place that if you don’t try when you are in Hobart then more fool you. It is the best fried chicken I have had anywhere. The service was excellent. Attentive but not acting like vultures. The beer and cocktails were also excellent and made items not on the list so they know their stuff

Their sign should be in the shape of a baseball diamond because they knocked it out of the park! Kentucky style fried chicken was so amazing it would put Colonel Sanders to shame. Friendly & charming vibe.

Open late. Nice and friendly staff/owner (not Rude 😉 at all). Good after hour snack menu and good selection of drinks. Great ambience, reminded me to my days in Hong Kong.

Chicken was good just a little dry

Rude boy never disappoints! Amazing food paired with delicious cocktails! Service is friendly and helpful. Most of the menu is gluten friendly, which is a plus for me. Highly recommend the haloumi bites as a side for your chicken!

Fries with the dip was amazing , haloumi was good when eaten warm, had some fried chicken both boned and boneless which was just average .

Private work function - the food was spectacular! The vegan options were some of the best I've ever had, variety, quality and quantity - all spot on :) !

Service and vibe were great but still in disbelief over how bland the food was, and how small and meh the cocktails were. We ordered some of the vegetarian table snacks and a range of cocktails. Very very low value for money, I don't understand the other high reviews there are way better cocktail bars in Hobart.

This place saved us! The only late night food service we found in Hobart (11.30pm). Basic chicken and fries but gooooood. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere !

Food is always top tier here. Separate fryers for celiacs and only 5 items on the menu that aren’t gf. Definitely worth a visit

Absolutely splendid

The mystery of this place is what sets it apart from everywhere else! No details of what alcohol is served in cocktails - but just ask the staff and they'll tell you what does and doesn't have your favourites. The menu is also very different from anything seen elsewhere. But the brisket. Oh. Mouth watering! The only one down side was the volume of music made it impossible to have a conversation! It felt like we were in a nightclub, leaning in to yell in each other's ears.

Delicious vegan chicken and chips with THE most friendly, kind and professional service you will ever find. I have heard about Rude Boy for ages but it was only a week ago that I went, out on a date with myself. FAR OUT these are THE nicest people, incredibly fast service, so friendly and though I knew I would be eating total junk food my vegan chicken and chips were delicious! Even though they are a bar and do not serve tea and coffee they make me a great big mug of tea with almond milk, and didn't charge me. Comfy, cosy, friendly and great food.

Came for the gluten free fried chicken, was blown away by the cocktails, service and all of the food. Made me wish I had room to eat and drink it all over again. We went and bought the Punch and Ladle spritz in a bottle to keep the night going afterwards. Love this place.

As a coeliac…. I am one happy camper!! Never been able to have fried chicken (always grilled) and I was in heaven !! Staff were so accommodating and had great awareness of coeliac disease! From Brisbane but will definitely be back for that fried chicken !!!!

If I'm paying $22 for a cocktail I don't expect it to be 70% ice. The chicken was okay, a bit dry, could of gone to Nando's and gotten something so much better for a much cheaper price. The only reason it gets 3 stars is because the customer service was great 👍

Visited Hobart for the first time and came across this gem. Rum and fried chicken? Yes please. Tried out the below: Party Birdy . The Canopy . Fried boneless chicken + 7 spice + miso caramel sauce . Overall honest review, great chill spot. Drinks were delicious, staff were friendly and helped with recommendations. Would definitely return! Thanks team!

Cute venue but very slow service. We came in as a group of 4 just for some drinks and used the app to order and it took over 30 minutes to get a warm beer delivered to the table and they forgot a cocktail. Won’t be rushing back that’s for sure.

The worst chicken burger I’ve had in a while, which is a shame because normally the chicken at Rude Boy is a 10/10. I had the RB classic, the chicken was dry, the buns were stale and it lacked any flavour. Really disappointing I hope the other menu items haven’t dropped in quality.

Some pros and cons here. Pros - cool place and great food. Cons - 25 minute wait for drinks and 45 minute wait for food -- on a Tuesday -- is pretty ordinary and doesn't meet expectations.

Ordered through ubereats and the serving sizes were so small - $17 for 3 pieces of fried chicken and $17 for about a single burger patties worth of grilled chicken. Hand for comparison - definitely not $34 worth of food. Was delicious though.

I love love love Rude Boy. I always have and I’ve had some great food and experiences at Rude Boy over the years. However, I went recently and I was disappointed. The food was good - chicken is always tasty and I could eat their mash potato forever. The cocktail menu was lacklustre…I seem to remember there being more options and the ones we ordered were average. Sadly, it was the service that let us down. The waiters seemed to want to move us on rather than let us enjoy ourselves and take our time. The wait staff didn’t have any enthusiasm which I can understand happens in hospitality but it didn’t make us want to stay longer anyway and it came across rude to us at times. They brought the food out and didn’t say which ones were the vegan chickens and which ones weren’t, which made it hard to figure out which was which in the dim room. I was surprised and disappointed as this has not been my experience in the past. Overall, I’ll always come back to Rude Boy, but where’s the old one gone?

Came here for a party and had to pay 35 a head, food was alright but the portion sizes were horrible, I barely got a full plate and it cost me 35 bucks. One of our dinner guests also arrived a bit late and they didn't have enough food for him but still made him pay 35. Not a great experience.

I loved the venue - super kitsch and lots of curiosities to catch your eyes as you’re enjoying your meal. We had the feed me menu between two of us and we’re underwhelmed: the boneless chicken was dry and we ended up with two serves of potato mash and chips as the sides - spud overload

Overpriced food, stick to the burgers don’t get the main meals

Confession; I'm a fried chicken feind! Love this place, always try to sneak a visit if I'm in Hobart This is very high on my list of must visits if I'm in Hobart. I love the simplicity of the great food and epic cocktails. Its a no miss situation. It's got a funky Caribbean feel and I think it pulls it off. There is a lot to love about this place but for me it's the chicken🍗🤯🤯🤯

Delicious chicken and burgers, smallish but equally delicious sides, not really the place for families with kids on Friday or Saturday evenings, very hip & cool, a great place for twenty-somethings to hang out with cocktails and finger food
