Had the pork belly, mash and veggies for dinner here last night and the food was amazing! My entire family dined here and everyone enjoyed their meals. Jack from Star Bar is the best. Great knowledge of local attractions and also fantastic at local spirit pairings. If you need travel advice or local alcoholic selection advice, jack is your man. You are the bread and butter of Launceston

Great meal good service.

Staff were friendly and extremely efficient. Our waitress ran the bar and restaurant with ease on a rainy Sunday when the place was packed. The food was beautiful and the coffee excellent. Whatever they pay that girl, they should double it! Staff like her are hard to find. Also the chef was friendly and obviously very competent as our food was all very tasty. One of the best meals we had in Tassie.

Enjoyed a very yummy lunch with a friend yesterday. Both meals were delicious and the young man who served us was super friendly and very welcoming.

Great location in Launceston and is becoming a great spot for us pole dancers to have dinner at when visiting the Launceston Pole Revolution studio and need a big feed after!

Food was great but way too much on a plate. We had an entree and a small pasta plate. The entree was full meal sized and the small pasta plate was also the size of a full meal, glad I did not go the regular size!

We just called in for a drink and food after arriving on the bus from Hobart. Both had the Sunday Roast Lamb. It was delicious. Staff were great!

Lovely vegetarian dinner. Highly recommend the Eggplant Parmigiana, seasonal veg, creamy mask and Arancini Balls. Excellent friendly service and atmosphere. Enjoyed the live music while eating dinner. Walking distance from our hotel.

This restaurant provided an excellent meal and great service. We were somewhat doubtful about the venue with a large bar area. However, the bartender told us that the dining section would be vey quiet until much later at night. He was correct. The seafood dishes we chose were both delicious, as were the desserts. There was a good choice of wines by the glass at very reasonable prices. The staff were both friendly and professional. Do not be put off by the somewhat functional ambiance. You will enjoy a great meal at this venue.

We have eaten at Star Bar every time we’ve come to Launceston for the past couple of years and cannot fault it! The food is always exceptional and service from hospitality staff are always so lovely. Can’t recommend enough.

Very good location the room clean but the shower very need to change the shower head it's spraying like washing the garden very annoying.

Nice enough place, staff are friendly and helpful, although the room we stayed in was very small and very noisy mostly from cars down below in the street and carpark behind the room, cars reving up all hrs of the night hardly slept at all. This hotel does not have its own parking, so you have to park in carpark out back or at a parking meter. Not somewhere I would stay again.

4 out of 5 people did not enjoy the meal and left us feeling unwell afterwards.

The menu seems like conventional pub food but it is really delicious, and the service from Jack and the atmosphere inside are really great!

Centre of Launceston, but parking costs $4.50 per hour from 5 am to 11 pm. The parking costs more than the hotel. We cancelled, losing our fully paid fee, and went somewhere else. A very expensive mistake. Beware!

Great place. Excellent service

This place has always been my go to stay in launceston cbd. As others have reviewed and noted I also got a delayed flight into Tasmania and the owner bar staff waited 2hrs after their close time to wait an accommodate me. If I've ever had an issue there it's been easily and honestly fixed. There atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. The staff are friendly and do there best and the owner is honest and approachable. Not everything has to be 5 star but it's no fuzz no hassle and worth what you pay in this economic world. Thanks guys. . 😃 Damian

Love this place. Only an overnighter between flights but sooo welcoming and the meal excellent too. I thought that sentence succinct and to the point but told 200 letters minimum. Here goes. Staff great. Had the double cooked pork belly yum

This place was great! We arrived late (flight delay) and Joe was kind enough to stay open for us, efficiently checked us in, and had a great attitude throughout. The room was basic but spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. They even provided tea and coffee. Very convenient location, walkable to all the attractions and great restaurants. Would gladly stay there again.

Not clean- tables, floor, toilets It is not difficult to wipe a table down!

Lovely meals and service

Since neither the property nor any of the booking website mentions this, here’s what future travellers need to know: This is NOT a 24-hr property. They close at 9 PM, and if you’re flying in from a different city like I did, you cannot check in. They don’t have a 24-hr number that you can call. I fully paid through Agoda, yet no one reached out to me letting me know that I will be counted as a no-show for not showing up by 9 PM. A fully paid reservation means I should be able to access the room that I paid for whenever I want to during my reserved timeframe. They also denied a refund request from Agoda and charged me for the entire night. If an accommodation does not have, at the very least, a number where guests can call anytime, it should review its business policies. I was stranded in an unknown city in the middle of the night with no place to sleep. The least they could’ve done is to call me and ask if I was going to be there (since the room is already paid for fully).

Star bar restaurant only We stopped by for lunch and some beverages. It did not disappoint. Scotch Fillet 250grams rare My partner was extremely satisfied with his Sitch fillet. Cooked to perfection, on the red side. And the with the perfect amount of vegetables as a bed. A great proportion. Chicken tacos Freshly made and the chicken was not dry at all. The flavours were very subtle, the pickled cabbage and onion had an Asian flavour to the tacos which I really liked. Sides Roasted chat potatoes Perfect, just like how we make them at home. Except the spices were a lot nicer. Really fluffy inside Interiors Great both seating and also bar seating. Would have loved to sit outside on the bar table they were all full. Nice interior, it has a earthy and masculine feel. Very comfortable seating. Live music. It was great to hear live music and watching a couple dance to the music. Really sweet.

Went to this place for a drink tonight ordered the exact same drink 4 times and was charged 4 different prices when I confronted the staff in regards to this the staff members responded was and ( what would you like me to do about it can't you see we are busy get over it) well I'm sorry but busy or not does not give you the right to rip people off and over charge for the same drink train your staff properly instead of ripping people off definitely won't be back 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

We went twice for lunch. The service and food were OK but nothing to rave about. Most patrons at the time were mature over 50s women. The choice of background noise/ music was horrendous and too loud to enjoy. I actually told the service person about my meal and also mentioned the noise and was informed,that this is a sports bar! My pizza was totally undercooked and the dough raw in the middle. Well everyone was female over 50....maybe consider lunchtime to be a little quieter.. No wonder,you need to advertise on TV ! Nobody needs heavy metal at 12noon. We certainly won't return.

We had lunch here yesterday - we regularly eat here and the food and drinks are always on point. Always friendly service. Great spot to sit outside on a warm day too (or in winter they have heaters)

We are two French women who arrived around midnight from the airport with no place to sleep and jack a very friendly and kind person and returned to the hotel to open us and offer us a room. I highly recommend this hotel knowing that it is very well placed I think and very clean

My family and I had a lovely dinner which included the chicken parmigiana, spaghetti bolognaise, Star burger, eye fillet and pork belly. We also had a wonderful entrée that included the cheesy garlic bread and halloumi fries. Our time at the Star Bar was Wonderful, my family and I highly recommend it for a fun night out with family or friends. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Outstanding food - a great place for lunch! We dropped in here recently for lunch and had arrived just before midday. Em (our server) was absolutely flat out but you would not know it from her friendly, welcoming service! We ordered the Special of Crumbed Scallops, Satay Chicken Skewers and the Seafood Pizza (without anchovy). All of the food was outstanding! The pizza base was so light and the scallops were cooked perfectly! This is one of those places that ticks all the boxes, welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food - 10 out of 10 would recommend!!

Should have realised something was up when there was vomit in doorway of reception when we checked in. Look its an old hotel/pub in city. Its not going to be the hiton we know but you do expect the toilets and showersto work properly...fail..TV...forget it.... what we didnt expect or we informed of was the Upstairs bar 10mtrs from our room has a DJ playing incredibly loud music along with drunk patrons walking around the corridors. Zero sleep. Zero what the staff could do. Can only feel sorry for everyone else who just wanted to sleep...or watch tv...not the end we wanted on our holiday. But pizza was nice🙄

good pizza about the only thing nice about this joint. toilets doing have a mirror, super small, TVs have no visuals. If you are planning on staying during the weekend bring a great set of ear plugs because the rooftop bar will have a dj with no respect for the in-house guests, playing overly loud obnoxious music. Patrons of the rooftop bar yelling and screaming. useless. Cheers for the pizza though

We had a large group of people ( 50 ) for lunch and dinner the meals and service were wonderful . i didn't hear of any complaints.highly recommend going there for a meal or a drink .A relaxed, friendly atmosphere .thanks Sarah

Took a while to find somewhere open on Easter Saturday||Lovely fresh food and delightful staff. A pizza, a caesar salad and four drinks for $61.00. Dinner for two and very tasty.||Thank you. Highly recommend if you are in Launceston. Great atmosphere with a lovely fireplace.

Nice staff Great service

No elevators, the hotel is a maze. All rooms can hear the constant extractors from the kitchen even with doors closed. Old noisy minibar that runs constantly. The tv has no image. Slippery shower. And staff comes next to room 1, laugh and smoke at 2:48am. I ended up leaving the second day. The worst I have ever seen.

The hotel had a great restaurant attached, however I would not recommend this as a place to stay. Rooms very small, outlook of 1 small window to a corridor. People using the hotel room next door as a party venue all night long. We checked out early morning after no sleep. Other guests complained about the noise also. The previous night was little better with people partying in the hallway until 2am.

Ordered a pumpkin and haloumi salad and salt and pepper squid with a side of veg. Only 1 other table in the restaurant when we ordered. 1/2 am hour later we receiced the salad with no pumpkin and the squid |Without salt and pepper, cooked in cold oil. The veg was a small side of cauliflower, a few slices of carrot and 2 cubes of pumpkin. One of us is not well today despite only eating one piece of squid. Recommend not eating there until they find a new chef.

Excellent value for money!

A mixed experience, but overall positive because the food saved the day. Some of the infrastructure is dating, toilet steal with no seat, no toilet paper and cracked sinks. It's due for some basic renovations. We ordered food and received it about an hour later while the restaurant was about a 1/3 busy on a nice weekday. We sat outside the four of us, beside the very busy main street. The food was overall good with a few stars and a few light misses. Squid was basic and haloumy fries were soggy but nice tasting. The margaritas pizza and entrées plater were fantastic! We loved the wine selection and drank Janz sparkling rosé mostly. We would come again to this restaurant.

Staff feels okay to yell on costumes and don’t see this is the problem.
