High tea at The Hydro Majestic, The Wintergarden, tasty, varied, very well presented and, surprisingly, very fulfilling. The fare (Eastern) was scrumptious and very well prepared indeed ... thank you

Yesterday we had High Tea at the Hydro Majestic at Medlow Bath to celebrate a Birthday. The food was unbelievable, the staff were fantastic and we had a great view looking out over the Megalong Valley from our table . Would recommend this to anyone. We definitely will be going back again soon.

From the moment of our warm welcome we felt pampered and special. The service is wonderful, we have never met so many genuine friendly people. Our evening dinner experience was five star. Breakfasts plentiful and varied selections to please the pickiest diner. I wouldn't have missed the tour that was offered it was fabulous, Marcus our guide (& Manager) was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable his passion for the Hydro and its history contagious. We plan to have another stay later this year.

This is a nice place , good access to blue mountain

View., rooms, dining and service were excellent

The food and staff was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment you step inside you feel a sense of charm and sophistication.

Great stay. Thoroughly enjoyed the week. Lovely friendly helpful staff.

A beautiful building thankfully saved with the most beautiful assortment of upholstered chairs. The view while dining in the Winter garden restaurant was breathtaking and our meals were delicious served by efficient staff

We had a high tea for two which cost $130. The service was excellent and the Wintergarden room was elegant and peaceful. The views were breathtaking with no low cloud. The high tea itself looked beautiful though the food was hit and miss. One of the sandwiches was dry around the edges, the sausage roll dry and scones were not fresh as they crumbled as soon as you cut into them. The egg sandwich, roast beef wrap and salmon slider were delicious.

Enjoyed our stay at the Hydro very much - meals, staff and service excellent.

Various $$ room options. Dining room wintergarden only option $89 two courses 1 person, $99 3 courses pp. Wine $16 a glass. Boiler room etc lower costs jeals, only open Thursday to Sunday. Buffet cooked breakfast $30pp. Came on luxury escape.

It's a real shame how this property has been let down by a lack of maintenance and general care. The location is brilliant, but it was disappointing in a number of ways. Food was average, bathrooms weren't as clean as they should be, outside balconies and other areas needed high pressure hosing. Don't go to play tennis unless you want to twist your ankle, the surface is completely shot. Again, such a pity given the view from the court. If you want to go anywhere, allow at least a 30min wait for a taxi or Uber (if you can get one). This place is a long cry from it's heady early years, which given the history, is such a shame. The best parts are the views and the walking tracks around the property.

I don't really understand how the weather works in this part of the world,, but is nice on minute and foggy as and blowing to gale the next,, throw in a bit of rain and a little bit of ice,, then you've got Medlow Bath NSW,, ANYWAY it is what it is..

Experience the life of how life was years ago for the gentry. The opulence is exquisite

Amazing experience

Good sandwich good coffee 🤤

We had the high tea here and the dining room service and views are amazing Food was great, they are very accomodating for allergies. Such a special experience, perfect for dates and anniversaries

Came down for Christmas/NYE & the accommodation & service was amazing. Stayed for 5 nights & attended The Wintergarden for Dinner & High Tea + The Boiler House for lunch. So much to do & see, can't wait to go back there again

Stopped for a coffee. Lots of memorabilia

Lovely experience! We enjoyed our stay a lot at this place with history. May Castro at the reception and all other staff were super friendly and lovely! Thank you! Only a problem is that half used soap/amenities were collected on the second day. Many of us are happy to use them on the second day if they are not empty. Being sustainable is great in that beautiful area! Will be back again!

Stunning location, Ask for Douglas in the dining room.

Had high tea at the Wintergarden to celebrate. It was beautiful, delicious and surprisingly filling.

Great experience, an hotel like no other with a lot of historical background! Amazing food (2 hats restaurant), stunning view of the blue mountains, from your room, from your restaurant, breakfast or night drinks! And last, direct access to bush walking... and access to the pool, jacuzzi and sauna of the Lilianfels Hotel and Spa complex 👌

Beautiful historic building with a spectacular view over the mountainous ranges. Room with the basics of what you need but missed on a few necessities. Restaurants delivered great food (dinner and breakfast). Great value for money experience.

Amazing hotel- views, food and service were fabulous!

Our two day stay exceeded our expectations! Staff were very helpful, welcoming and friendly. Dinner in the Wintergarden was exceptional! Breakfast consisted of a variety of hot and cold food! Views of the Megalong valley just take your breath away. Must do is the History Tour, run by Marcus. Marcus’ passion for the history surrounding the Hydro is contagious and enhanced our visit even further.

We came for a high tea to celebrate our anniversary. I especially am a high tea enthusiast, and I held high hopes. The restaurant itself is stunning. Beautiful large windows with exceptional views of the mountains if the clouds disappear. The service was great, and the tables were beautifully set. We ordered 2 x kids high tea, one standard, and one Eastern high tea. I love traditional high tea, with single finger sandwiches with fillings like egg, chicken and celery, cucumber and cream cheese, etc. All of the sandwiches were 3 layers, which i didn't love, and my vegetarian sandwich was soggy. The kids' high tea had smoked salmon sandwiches included, which i found interesting, The eastern high tea was interesting, but my partner didn't love it. It's hard to keep high tea interesting, I get it. I just really love a traditional high tea. For a family of 4 or was $220, which is a big investment when we left a lot on our plates. The best thing, though, is that we were given takeaway containers so we could enjoy the scones later. Overall, the experience was incredible, but the food was not my most favourite. It's definitely still worth the experience though.

We enjoyed the sun set from our valley view room.

Brilliant views

This is a wonderful experience for an old hotel that has been beautifully restored. It really throws you back to the 1920's with sumptuous dining rooms, exotic bars, fireplaces, halls, etc. We dressed up in vests, berets, coats, boots and the old feel it's magic. High Tea in the Wintergarden restaurants was great (See the photos). The staff were more friendly than I've experienced in a long time. It was so good to see these places open again after the lockdown. We saved a little on our room as we had a small room overlooking the carpark, but I know there are beautiful state rooms and suites overlooking the mountains and the valley. Will try one of these next time.

It's been a while since we stayed here. This visit was for coffee only, which was good. But I recall it as a beautiful place to stay, with magnificent views over the valley below.

I would highly recommend the Hydro Majestic Hotel to anyone looking for a blend of luxury, comfort, and outstanding service. I look forward to returning in the future!

Thank gos Mum n Dad were paying 😊

Almost a complete lack of service, from the booking in process to the checking in at the hotel. There is no room service and no mini bar in the room. They are really relying on the view as the hotel is looking tired and run down. Food was presented well, but was bland and flavourless. You are paying for a 5 star hotel and receiving a 3 star experience. Could be such a great hotel, but management are letting them down.

Clean room, nice staff and vibe in the eating areas was nice

Beautiful art deco hotel, great location in the Blue Mountains, with a relaxing atmosfeer and very friendly staff. Good quality food too. Definitely going back here.

I was silly enough to come for a high tea again today and it was worse then ever. This is sure my last visit and I shall advise anyone I know not to even try. I visit this place several time per year for meal or our regular annual pre -Christmas High tea and then with my friends for ladies get together. Every time we are hoping it will get better and every time it is disappointing. You can only get away with beautiful location and building for a while. Customers will get fed up with average and below average offerings. Not to mention service. I would urge management to chose well who do they employ. Your staff do try but they are just not on the level of service you should be providing there, some of them even struggle with language. It is a beautiful heritage hotel, views are amazing but you have nothing to offer that would match that.

All very good staff were like the views, excellent

I stayed at the Hydro as a small child and always remembered it fondly as an enchanting place. Fast forward fifty plus years and I stayed again. This stay was just as magical as my childhood trips. A special thank you to Mahesh the duty manager who greeted me on arrival. He was kind and helpful. He facilitated both an early check in and late check out as he knew I wanted to go on the history tour. I had a terrific stay. It is still a magical place full of history and mystery.

I holidayed at the Hydro Majestic as a child and always remembered it fondly. It was an enchanting place. Full of history and mystery. Fast forward 50 plus years and I stayed again in January 2025. It is still a magical place. A special thank you to Mahesh who assisted me on check in and ensured I had a great stay consistent with my old memories. He facilitated an early check in and late check out so I could go on the history tour with ease and was generally kind and helpful. A wonderful stay.

Beautiful place, decor, views. Staff very friendly.

45th anniversary dinner ,exceptional

Old world charm and serene. Great place if you want to admire nature in comfort.

It was a great service in the restaurant and the food was nice but when we went to coffee shop where the fireplace the staff in the counter where we ordered coffee and scones was very rude. He was a Chinese background and the company should ask him to learn proper customer service. It’s my favourite place to dine in but I hope he will read this review and learn to be nice and change his attitude towards guests.

We had a wonderful 3 nights stay at The Hydro Majestic Hotel in the Blue Mountains. The room was clean. The corridors were quiet. The breakfast was not too diversify but enough to enjoy it in the lounge area. Unfortunately, the road work makes the surrounding outside the Hotel less attractive. The proximity with the station can be a bit noisy but it was OK. Free parking. Great experience overall.

It was a very pleasant experience we really enjoyed our stay, however our room was extremely small.

Was an amazing new years eve, stunning food, great music , stunning building.... highly recommend this hotel ..... highly highly recommend. Easter, Valentines, anniversary, birthdays, Xmas.... a must for celebrations🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾 stay in the larger room section as well worth it. Near the Cafe, the best spot

Great view ||Bad service|Only one restaurant open so poor selections||They had only one bar open with one staff member taking orders mixing drinks and serving tables.||No shortage of customers ||So ordering anything took ages and had to be simple ||Not good for a premium hotel||Not impressed other than by the outlook

The hotel is gorgeous and fun to roam around. We had an issue with our room and they promptly helped us with it! Once the road upgrades are done I’m sure this place will sparkle again!

Several years ago, I had the privilege of attending a work function at the Hydro Majestic Hotel in Medlow Bath, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Even after all this time, the memories of that day are vivid—testament to how special it truly was. The grandeur of the hotel is breathtaking, with its stunning views of the Blue Mountains and timeless charm. The food was absolutely divine, with every dish crafted to perfection, and the hospitality was impeccable. The staff made everyone feel so welcomed and cared for, elevating the entire experience. I often think about how amazing it would be to return, this time as a hotel guest, to soak in the elegance and relive it all over again. The Hydro Majestic isn’t just a destination—it’s an unforgettable experience. I hope to visit again someday!

romantic getaway great for couples great staff beautiful building amazing views breakfast was tasty great large bed loved chilling in the lounge area. boiler house delicious gnocchi would recommend

Book in with confidence this property is Grand and true to its Historic roots

Getting to know your guests a bit better every one has stories to tell but we found no one had time to talk

Lovely way to relax for a few days.

Since the 1980s I have loved the Hydro Majestic. Such a nostalgic, magical place.

Great service and window view. Dinner is good in quanlity and table service. Afternoon tea is not worthy.

What a beautiful hotel and location- you can call in here just for a photo if you like. It’s well worth it

We just love everything about the Hydro Majestic and look forward to returning

Having stayed many times at the hydro majestic the location the rooms and the staff constantly impress in the breakfast buffet the staff couldn't do enough to ensure that we had a pleasant experience and mahash the man at reception when we checked in and during our stay made us feel like family would recommend hydro majestic to anyone as the place to stay in Australia Mark and Lynda

The Hydro Majestic Hotel is a perfect blend of historic charm and modern elegance, offering stunning architecture and design that captivate at every turn. From the breathtaking views visible from nearly every window to the delicious food paired with panoramic mountain vistas, every aspect of our stay was a feast for the senses. The delightful background music further added to the enchanting ambience of the experience. The staff were incredibly warm and professional, with a special mention to Marcus, who gave us a fascinating tour of the building. His insightful commentary on the hotel’s history and its visionary founder, Mark Foy, added depth to our appreciation of this unique landmark. The well-maintained facilities and attention to detail ensured a seamless and memorable experience. The Hydro Majestic Hotel truly lives up to its name, offering a stay that is as majestic as its surroundings.

We honeymooned at the Hydro Majestic in 1984. What better way to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary then to revisit the Majestic. We had a marvelous time. The food was excellent, especially the wide choice for breakfast. All the staff were very accommodating. A special thank you to Mahesh and Douglas for making our stay so memorable.

We stayed at the Hydro Majestic as we have done in previous years and had Christmas lunch. The lunch was beautiful however the service has really slipped with the staff more focused on getting us out of there so they could get out. Previous years the staff could not do either to assist you but this year it was really hard to find a staff member to help out. A little disappointed as I really love going to the Hydro and never minded paying the price of lunch as the service has always matched the lunch | Unfortunately not this year

exceptionally good customer service and hospitality

My wife and I stayed for one night recently. We enjoyed the experience. Staff were very accommodating - we were located near a big group and found the outside noisy. The concierge happily relocated us to another room.

Nice high tea. If longer time it will has 5 stars

Our experience was amazing and great. Such a beautiful hotel the interior is out of this world it was so lovely.

Only went for high tea it was absolutely great and they only to pleased to help with some made without eggs due to wife is allergic to them The staff were friendly and pleased to help with everything Thanks

Amazing location with great view. Staff try their best and thoughtful all of the time even when a sizeable proportion of them are trainees. The room was a bit of a disappointment. Knew the building’s heritage so wasn’t expecting a brand spanking new room with all of the mod cons, but cleanliness could be better, particularly in some of the tighter corners.

Just as fabulous as it's fascinating history. Beautifully decorated suites with stunning views of the valley and local environment. Plenty of parking and the hotel also has a few restaurants for daytime and night time cuisines. There has been some restoration of the hotel in recently which is inviting and comfortable. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Overall, our visit was hugely enjoyable and l would thoroughly recommend the Hydro Magestic to both local and international visitors.

Thank you to Marcus and Clark for making my experience such a memorable one. Personalised, friendly, professional and authentic service in an old world service manner befitting of this breathtaking beautiful iconic location in the Blue Mountains.Such great ambassadors for this hotel. Many thanks 🙌

Weird throwback to an old time era. Fun.

Spectacular buildings and location, with quirky history. Delicious meals, beverages with amazing views. Attentive and friendly staff. Loved all of it!

Very pleasant stay. Great location, friendly staff.

I just love the Hydro Majestic! It’s full of happy childhood memories for me and our recent stay didn’t disappoint. The most recent renovation of this gorgeous art deco folly doesn’t disappoint. The lighting budget alone would be mind-blowing! Unfortunately though they’ve “erased” some of the original fittings. Photo 7 shows a concrete slab which was the swimming pool complete with concrete dolphins at the end which have all, sadly, disappeared. It’s not 5 star but who cares?! It’s definitely worth a 2 night stay in autumn

We purchased a $170 high tea gift voucher which wasn’t used due to COVID. There were no expiry conditions noted on the voucher or terms and conditions. I rang and was told that the voucher would be honoured due to COVID however when I emailed to confirm in writing and use the voucher I was told that it had expired. FairTrading says conditions and expiry have to be printed on the voucher but it’s not so be very aware they will rip you off as they don’t value the customer.

While the Hydro is still surviving on its 2014 internal restoration, the prices here are for the richest amongst you only. Ensuites leave a lot to be desired, and be warned - most floors have No lifts, so upto 48 steps up to your room. While a great spot very little in the way of Value here and with the ever continuing road works, i suggest you just drive past.

What an amazing experience highly recommended room was a little small but the whole hotel was so magical

We stayed for the weekend celebrating our wedding anniversary where we were made to feel like were VIP'S. From our warmest of welcomes with Marcus, we were guided to our room with a special mini history tour by Mahesh. We had Sparkling Wine and strawberries dipped in chocolate waiting for us in our room which had a jaw dropping view of the valley and mts. Bek welcomed us at the Wintergarden where he made us feel like we were the only guests present. Attention to detail is outstanding! Servers were also very well spoken promoting a pride in thier work. Special mentions to Sakura, Vinay, August and trainee Kay. Thank you all for making our stay truely memorable. We will return.

Today we arrived at 11am for a high tea.. The food was lovely and so was the service. Douglas was lovely. However it was just short of 2pm when a very rude man all but threw the bill on our table and told us it was time to leave they needed our table even tho there was a room of empty other tables. Myself and friends got up and the man (koman) I think was his name was rude, abrupt and told us they do not except cash payments and will not split the bill x 3 .. we have done in the past but not any more he made very clear. How this man has a job is beyond me. Customer service is far from his strong point. I have not had such terrible rudeness from a restaurant in a long time. This service was so poor and definitely not what you would expect from a so called 5 star hotel. The hotel itself is looking very run down and the grounds and carpark look like the gardeners left years ago. Very overgrown and untidy. We will not be back or recommend to anyone.

We stayed here to start our lives together the night of our wedding. The staff were nothing but lovely and so helpful. The hotel is beautiful and well worth the trip. This stay will be in our memories forever. The Hydro Majestic building is stunning and a great piece of history to experience.

We had a wonderful afternoon at the high tea. The food was delicious and so beautifully presented. Special call out to Vinay for providing such excellent service. We will definitely be back.

Have stayed here 3 times in last 3 years & it's getting better! Great history to the Hydro, you must explore it fully, So many rooms to find and who's stayed here. The breakfast is endless, salmon, savouries, eggs, complete big breakfast, cereal cold meats, yoghurt, fruit, nuts, berries, pancakes to make, coffee, tea, herbal tea, and the service is exceptional!. The views from the lounge/piano room are perfect for relaxing over breakfast or late night Port & cocktails. Back again in 4 months.

We stayed there for 2 nights and were very impressed with everything and would not hesitate to stay there again
