Ordered a vodka sunrise without the vodka wouldn't recommend it but foods amazing though

Come weekly to Waterworks Hotel and I’ve had a great experience every time. The food is great and the service is even better. The bistro worker Valandi is the ideal employee and always goes above and beyond.

Went to the waterworks hotel for a late Sunday dinner and we got there just before closing time. We had ordered the Thai chilli chicken salad and the crispy skin barramundi on the chefs specials. It took less than 10 minutes to come out as it wasn’t that busy. The barramundi dish was cold and soggy the “crispy” skin was not crispy at all- the potatoes were soggy and cold and so was the puree’. The chicken salad was bland and the chicken was half cooked and lukewarm which didn’t have a nice taste in the mouth. We left hungry. Very disappointed because have heard good things about the food.

We just moved to the area and waterworks was our introduction to the area. The rumps were divine, lovely wine and relaxing vibe. We will be back as regulars for sure. Also, the kids icecream was delish.

The staff were needlessly hostile and kicked out my friend despite him being no louder than any other patron. It was difficult to see this decision as anything other than a racially motivated decision. Would not recommend to anyone

Restaraunt quality pub classics with a Greek twist. Worthy of an award, Waterworks Hotel offers the best pub food that I, my friends and family have found in Sydney with great atmosphere and warm, friendly and accommodating staff! Well worth visiting Botany for! 🙏

Chose the Surf n Turf, old fashioned I know but we were looking for a special meal. Steak was nice definitely cooked perfectly, mash salad and veg all great too. Prawns were basic but what was disappointing was that it REALLY needed a Bernaise sauce or such to make it worth the $45!!! We paid per plate. Chef did well but not worth the big price tag unfortunately- it really needed a good sauce to finish it off. Shame.

I am a local and the food has always been hit and miss but tonight’s meal took the cake. The special pork belly was so tough it was inedible. The crackling was soft and gooey. When I told the waitress she simply said “sorry”. So after 17 years as a Botany resident and many chances at the Waterworks I’m never going back!

They kicked us out after 2 schooners. Been going there for a long time, but this one girl at the bar refused to give me another beer. We had a meal with 2 beers and we were demeanored ashamed as she said she will not serve us another beer, 4.2% alcohol. But she will let the high end gamblers whom are drugged up & drink scotch, vodka bourbon to stay all night. Do not recommend, do not go, this place won't look after professionals that go for a meal & drink after work. You will be kicked out after two schooners.

Food was well presented and tasted fresh and full of flavour. Place was clean and had an easy going vibe.

I’m wondering if it’s changed hands because the food was different ! The so call wagyu beef burger was dry and cheap mince . The pie was oily and just not the same. Disappointing!

“I recently visited Waterworks Hotel and found the experience to be underwhelming. 🙁 While the chicken schnitzel was crispy, the accompanying fries were excessively oily and unappetizing. 🍟 Additionally, the staff’s behavior was disappointing, with one member displaying a lack of professionalism by slamming utensils on the table while serving the food. 😒 Overall, it was a mediocre dining experience that left much to be desired. ⭐⭐”

Will definitely be returning regularly. Haven't been since kitchen changed hands. Pleasantly surprised with the quality and quantity of the food,. Also great service .

It's a good place to relax.. service from waiters are excellent but like now not even 330. They told us it's close...we work night shift. But they always want us to finish half hour early.

What an awesome place! I wanted to book a place for my wife's birthday. The owner sat down and had a nice conversation with me. Discussed menu options and gave me suggestions as to what he might serve. On the day the food was even better than I expected. Greek salad, Calamari, pasta and a lamb shoulder that was out of this world. The staff were jovial and friendly and looked after us well. The bar staff were attentive to all our orders and we had a great day at a fantastic price. I cant recommend this place enough! The atmosphere is friendly and the location is easy to get to as well.

Recommended by an older work colleague, said the place used to be a great pub years ago. Sadly, it isn’t what ol mate experienced back in the day. Craving a burger so took a gamble instead of the typical plain old usual pub Parma. Was quite overcooked and shrunk to the size of a large slider. Should call it the Lizzo burger cuz it’s just two giant crusty buns, no lean beef to be found. Not one to complain but if it wasn’t $26 I would be a bit forgiving. Sad state for the chips too I’m afraid, even a seagull might turn up their beak to em. The bar and beers are the usual suspects, not anything to pro or con for. Few of the locals act like the own the place yelling and hooting about a fish story or a footy team. Again nothing too much cause for concern but it seemed that dress code and hygiene were optional for guests who arrived straight from the docks and abattoirs. The tvs are a good distraction from the cracked walls/ceilings, and dust-laden air vents. I did notice the place seemed like a family business and I always try to give patronage to small family businesses. Not my business but it might be time for a new cook. To the guests fresh from the butchers and fish mongers I’d just let them know that no outside food or drink allowed, including what’s on their clothes.

The food is fantastic here now, highly recommend. Third visit, the lamb souvlaki is great, burgers and buffalo wings are great and so is the surf & turf.

Love the dining area in the back. The food used to be great/high quality and the staff are always very nice. We only go for dinner on weeknights, and it has always been amazing for 4+ years , but something has changed in the last few months. Food is terrible now. Prices have gone up remarkably and the quality and taste has gone downhill. We no longer go here for food. A sad loss.

Great service but salmon was undercooked

Sadly it looks like the bistro has changed hands once again bad reports from the local grape vine.....After a one star review 5 years ago, I've completely changed my rating to 5. Had the best chicken schnitzel I've ever had! Loved the free range taste of the chicken with the awesome crunchiness of the panko coating. The salad, though simple was sublime. The amount of chips, just right and the béarnaise was nearly as good as mine. My partner's New York steak was equally as good. And if I'm being picky, the only downside was the lack of brandy in the Diane sauce. Otherwise - I'll be back! (said like Arnold Schwarzenegger)

New menu has lost some of the old favourites, while prices have gone up. New service staff were rude, won't be going back after it having been a go to in the past.

Meal was so disappointing. Very small serve of overcooked fish, a few veges & some salad leaves for $35.00. Overpriced & underwhelming. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!

Food has gone down hill drastically. Most of my family's fav menu items are no longer available and what is available is not great. Use to be regulars...we won't be coming back any more.

Dreadful meal

Chill area with pool table, great out door area. Lady was super friendly. Food was amazing recommend the schnitzel and the mash is mad as.

First time at this pub last night. Food and atmosphere were very good. Can recommend.
