Do not recommend this place at all. We are travelling Australia and like most travelling Aussie have dogs, (small very well behaved dogs). We asked if we could have them in the beer garden & were told yes. Went around to the beer garden, sat down & ordered & paid for drinks (we were just about to order food). We didn't even get 2 sips into our drinks to be told we had to leave as it was their policy not to have dogs in their garden. Given that there was only 1 person in the whole pub (inside or out beside us), they could have at least let us finish our drinks before we left.

The service could not fault. As an ex cook who rates a good old fashion Parmy. I gave my beef Parmy 10/10. I am definitely going back again

Went for lunch today. Used to be my place to hangout so to speak 40ish years ago, so I was keen to see how much it had changed. It is a lot quieter than it used to be, the old bar we drank is closed down. But the atmosphere is still warm and friendly, the music is still tops. The lunch menu is very limited but it was very nice, everything was cooked just right. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back for sure.

Stopped in for lunch during our travels, I wish I just cooked my own lunch instead of wasting my $65. Bought 2 lunch specials, the fish N chips and the veal schnitzel with chips and 2 beers. The schnitzel was like leather, tough and in-eatable. I know it's the special but what a cheap cheap cut of fish, it tasted terrible and I didn't finish it. The crinkle cut chip suggested to me that no one has changed the chip order since 1980!|Both the beers were flat so I returned them and go another 2 cheaper beers that were also flat 🙄 seriously, flat beer from a pub!!|We had to sit outside because we are travelling with our dog, the 'pet friendly' area is the smoking section on the footpath where we sat with the locals who chain smoked and used foul language. I wish I made my own lunch, what a waste of $$

I would say one of the worst pubs we have visited on our travels and we have travelled over 3 quarters of Australia, encountering some awesome pubs along the way. Maybe if the staff were a bit more friendly and welcoming, it would have been an okay experience.

Excellent service food was lovely

came here for the live band. Yeah, they were alright, sort of blues band who expect at a pub in Whyalla the funniest event of the evening was the gentleman booing there entire concert who I became friends with over what south Australians incorrectly call a pint. Great art deco exterior that I'm sure would make a great Russell Drysdale painting. Everything in Whyalla seems to be some shade of red or bronze.

Nice place for a quiet beer. Not the fanciest pub around, but the beers are cold.

I've never stayed here as I live in Whyalla but it is one of my fave places in town to have my very unhealthy but scrumptious loaded wedges minis the bacon and spring rolls.

Don't know why Jukeboxes were for +18s only quite surprised you can find a pub with available even ones where 8s 12s can also use them and play pull any one can in some pubs

Went for lunch on 6/01/2023 Bar staff great people and friendly.Lunch meal was horrible.Chips were not cooked, tuna patties were uncookedand Roast pork dinner had only 1 very small potato cut in half and mostly green beans.This the only time we have had a bad meal there

The food is excellent at the Spennie. It's always fresh and delicious.

Well this hotel has changed somewhat. The front bar was not operational at all. Sad since it used to be quite busy. They do have some machines so they are still operating.

U ask for grilled fish and vegetables and got salad not good

Was disappointed that it was supposed to have a band playing which if did but incorrect details that when you arrived you had to have previously booked..

I was disappointed as K went to see a band and all the wrong information was given and ended up going home

Basic cheap rooms with showers and toilets that do the job nicely. Good food,cold beer and friendly locals.

Very old syle pub accommodation Cheap and perhaps nastalgic but not for everyone I enjoyed it for the above reason wife not so much.

Great spot for a few drinks, the cocktail jugs are not worth it though, 2 shots of alcohol per 1.8L of mixer for $22
