Visiting from Melbourne, we headed to the wharf for a drink . There are a variety of establishments to chose from and due to a recommendation we ended up at The Den . It was absolutely gorgeous and the service was fantastic ! A big thanks to our bar tender Taylor who was friendly , helpful and a true professional ! Highly recommended if you are ever in Hobart

Mixed Experience I had high hopes for this visit, and while the Lemon Cheese cocktail was absolutely delicious—probably the best I’ve had so far—the experience was unfortunately let down by a few factors. The smell in the venue was unpleasant, which really affected the overall vibe. Additionally, the music was incredibly loud for such a small space, making it hard to relax or enjoy the atmosphere fully. There’s potential here, but some adjustments are definitely needed.

Be careful when you dance on the dance floor and manger walks behind you. You’ll get kicked out for accidentally bumping into them and not apologising even though you and your friends watched it all happen

Month of visit: December 2024 I came here randomly because my family was already hungry, I got attracted by their bao poster outside, and we didn’t regret it! The food that we ordered was good and delicious. This is the best food we have during our holiday in Tassie. We love the chicken karage and the bibimbap. The lack one was the duck something, it doesnt taste like a duck meat for me. The interior also has a nice vibe! Recommended to try if you are in Salamanca.

We came here for a quick snack and drinks without a booking, and they were happy to accommodate us. We ordered the Chicken Karaage and a selection of Baos, and both were delicious. The Chicken Karaage was crispy and flavorful, with just the right balance of spices and a zesty kick from the lemon. The Baos were soft, fresh, and packed with mouthwatering flavors. The atmosphere was lively. While the music indoors was quite loud, we opted for the outdoor seating, which was perfect on such a nice day. A great spot for tasty bites and drinks!

Good food and nice atmosphere. However, the bartenders were completely dismissive and unhelpful as far as answering any of our questions. Otherwise, very nice.

A great spot for a cocktail and nibbles. Friendly service, great cocktail menu and many other drinks available. The inside spaces are very comfy, while the airy outside space is also great on a warm day. Really looking forward to going back soon, and this seems like a great spot for after-work or weekend drinks.

We went for an early dinner around 4pm, you just pick a table and order with the QR code which I love. The crispy chicken bao buns were so good we ordered them for takeout two nights later. The rice bowl and beet salad were delish, jalapeno poppers were kind of spicy. Had affogato for dessert which is random but was perfect.

The Dan bar in Hobart has a fantastic atmosphere—definitely a vibe! The DJ was awesome, spinning a great selection of classic tunes that set the mood perfectly. The indoor design is stylish and inviting, and the outdoor space adds a nice touch, making it easy to relax and enjoy the evening. We didn’t get a chance to try the food, as the kitchen closes a bit early, but luckily there was a charcoal chicken place nearby to grab a bite. However, the cocktails more than made up for it—delicious and well-crafted.

Spent 2 nights here drinking with friends while on holidays. It was an awesome place.

Extremely thankful for the barman (dark hair, beard, glasses) who let me charge my phone at the bar as an interstate traveller. Gained my patronage; fried chicken Bao's are fantastic, and the Apple Cider on tap was great. Would recommend 100%

Good food and drinks - quite expensive.

We came on a very busy and vibey Sunday. Absolutely loved it. Music by Christo Jones was 10/10 and the service from the staff was amazing. Sadly the owner didn’t roster on enough staff for a busy Sunday so we were helping bring the staff in the empty glasses. This review is mostly a message to the boss to roster more staff on a Sunday. Otherwise we loved our afternoon here

The Den in Salamanca offers the perfect outdoor vibe—relaxed, chill, and ideal for a laid-back evening. The ambiance is spot on, and the drinks are top-notch. If you're looking for a great place to unwind with amazing cocktails, The Den is the spot to be!

Arrived around 9 PM alone, the place got 2 person s seating outside and a group of 8 people’s sit inside just the opposite side of the bar. I chose a nice spot around the fireplace. First of all I tried the famous single mat whisky from Lark Distillery and I tried to make a conversation with the bartender, but he doesn’t interact much…., from my extensive experience with bars around the world it is not common that the bartender do this. Usually I would try several local whisky and then ask the bartender for some other selection. This time I only take two shots before leaving the place. Interior is nicely decorated and the fireplace hood extends to the second floor. They also got a bar and a barbecue table on the second floor.

Taylor at The Den gave us amazing service. He really enjoys serving people, offering advice for local wines and menu selections. The wine, beer and food were wonderful. Great spot. Highly recommend.

Found this place when it was wet and cold. Warm and snug. Really cool atmosphere Love the multiple fireplaces .Drinks amazing and food is the best. Highly recommend gyoza and chicken bag. Mulled wine on a cold night can't be beat. Really cool place to have a drink and nibbles.

What an amazing place on a chilly afternoon. Live Music from jhmusic.com.au and you can request and dedicate songs. Be warned we surprised each other requested beautiful songs and our eyes welled up. Bang Bang Cauliflower is great and we had hot chips. It's was raining and cold. Inside and Outside dining and there's fires roaring. A must to check out in Hobart.

Great atmosphere here had a local playing his acoustic guitar. Service and food a big tick, great for a date or just a catch up.

This place is brilliant. Cocktail knowledge runs deep and the food hits the spot every time. Perfect for drinks before a meal or finishing your night. Would take a date or my wife if she bought me the Lego millennium falcon as a gift and I felt I owed her… BRAVO!

Enjoyed every minute of sitting here, outside in August, under shelter with a open fire to keep us warm. Cocktails on one visit followed by a lunchtime meal and drinks the next time. Staff were pleasant, meals were very tasty indeed (try the stuffed jalapenos). We will be back.

Service is horribly slow. The atmosphere is not too bad, but the bad service overweights the semi ok atmosphere. There are many other good places in Tasmania, do not waste time in here.

Super slow service, messy tables and understaffed working environment. Waited for more than 1 hour for only one dish (edamame) but it wasn't the first time. Experienced this slow service twice here. Food was awesome but really disappointed due a very bad service here.

Ordered a glass of wine. Bartender said he “poured to the line” but it was definitely under. He just happened to use up the last of the bottle & didn’t want to open another bottle. Will never return. Very loud but comfortable seating.

10/10 service, food, and drinks. I come here during every visit because of the inviting fireplace both inside (downstairs) and outside (at the front of the venue). I always get the gyoza and the chicken kaarage. The chicken has definitely downsized in the last two years, from big chicken pieces to bits smaller than popcorn chicken :( times are tough now. At least the cocktails and beverage varieties are still good! 🍸

The staff here are the real knowledgeable, friendly, and always up for a bit of banter. Plus, they can whip up a mean cocktail. And let's not forget the food. It's seriously good. It's not just your typical bar fare - we're talking delicious bites that are perfect for sharing.

Very busy when we went. LOVED all the heat lamps and fires. Food was really tasty, and the cocktails were yum. Would go again.

We decided to have pre-dinner drinks at the Den. The atmosphere was amazing and the drinks here are at a reasonable price. Great place to chill out. Definitely coming back.

Last minute decision for a group on over 20 of us, accommodated us and looked after us. Cocktails were delicious and the DJ played some great tunes, all in all, a wonderful night. Highly recommended.

Fantastic spot for lunch. I could have sat there all day. Great atmosphere, very comfy on a cold day with fire pits and comfy cushioned seating. Food was delicious and staff were very friendly. If I lived closer it would become a regular place for a meal out.

Best cocktail I’ve ever had! I asked an artist to express himself and he did exactly that! The manager made me this beautiful cocktail that genuinely knocked my socks off! The atmosphere was genuine perfection! Never change the interior! It’s perfect!

We just stopped in for a beer after a walk on a cold Monday night. This bar has lots of charm and is classily decorated. Outside sitting area is great, with fires and heaters to keep it toasty and cosy. Beer was good. Would definitely visit again, the owners have obviously made a top effort here.

I’m currently on holidays in Hobart. Been to this bar twice. Fridays experience was brilliant. A gentleman served me and I had two drinks. Came again for an afternoon drink yesterday and ordered and the drink cost me $30 and was HALF the size of Fridays. SAME DRINK. Guys in this day and era… big mistake. Your bar man was unapologetically rude. Enough for me to share on Facebook for the world to see.
