Good food. Great service. Drink price a bit over.

10 Times in 3 weeks - it’s the pub you can’t get in melbourne

Friendly and professional. Choice of UK Ales. Yum.

Recently had a special occasion dinner here and everything was perfect. Meals were top quality, good wine list, table service, staff were friendly and professional, wasn’t too crowded and no loud music so you could easily have conversation. Can’t fault it, highly recommend.

Cool venue situated off the main-ish drag of North Adelaide. Interior is gorgeous - rustic and old school in the main bar area but new-ish in the bistro area. Male server was lovely and friendly, female server gave off inconvenience vibes. Would pop in again.

Great pub, staff are so lovely and welcoming. The food is always 10/10. Also a great place to stop in for a drink on the way home.

Had to wait a while. The lamb was delicious but unfortunately the veggies were under done. To compensate they offered a desert. Otherwise l would definitely go again.

Very relaxed, we enjoyed our stay

Best scotch fillet cooked just perfectly for medium rare. Husband enjoyed the pork belly. Felt we had dined with money well spent tongiht. Exquisite food. Will be coming back again.

Lovely long lunch. Nice food, if a little heavy handed on the chilli. Great staff and overall a great vibe.

Lovely staff, great atmosphere and good range of wines.

Unfortunately I ordered the wagu (special). It was over salted, over cooked and for $40 I expected more. I wouldn't recommend it. Go for food on the usual menu.

Our party's meals were great. Mine however (the wagu special) was not worth $40. Over cooked (asked for medium rare, got medium to well done) over salted and 2 bits I had to spit out, it was that badly cooked. Disappointed given the cost.

Good service , some good specials week days . Snitzeles 2 for one Monday and steak night about $20.00 Thursday Food as good as any a litte on the expensive side but this is North Ade

Great gluten free options.

Great pub, beautiful atmosphere, had lunch here got the lunch special steak, didn't feel like a lunch special felt like a main, steak was beautiful, nice chips and salad generous serve and only $18, where can you buy a steak for $18 these days. Will be back soon.

Steak sandwich. Yum

Not for walking frame when meeting held upstairs 😫

Great atmosphere and service.

The food was good didn't have to wait long the staff were friendly

Good meals and good value for the price.

Off the beaten track, with great Guinness and great British pub grub. Really good find.

The food was absolutely divine so we were a work function of approximately 30 and all other tables were full but the food came out almost to the T but there was one hickup being that one of our party got the wrong order while she had slipped away and consequently was left waiting while everyone else was eating so not only hungry but most likely embarrassed too but having said this the girls on the wait staff didn't miss a beat quietly going about what they do while everyone at the table enjoyed the evening If it wasn't for that 1 mistake it would have been 10/10 but 8/10 was still a good night out

Fantastic listed building, great food, friendly staff, what's not to like?

Very attentive staff, who catered to our group's needs and allergy problems. Quick service and good food.

A great local pub.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly and helpful waiter, food was very good, would happily come again.

The lunch specials at $ 18 are excellent value

Friendly service, tasty food. Nice little pub in North Adelaide with plenty of parking.

My booking at an another venue was lost but the staff managed to get a group of seven of us into The British. The British staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. Food was good. The only drawback is that due to the nature of the room design, and lack of soft furnishings it is a very loud venue

Echo surrounds, very hard to hear one another talking due to the sounding in the back food garden

AMAZING food. Pub is much larger than thought from the front, great atmosphere. Perfect outdoor space out the back that can be enclosed.

Lovely old hotel but a very new style menu. Our server was informative, knowledgeable & funny. It was a really nice experience and we were well looked after & felt valued as a customer. Will definitely return as the food was delicious.

Good atmosphere, recommend the beef ragu

Food was great. Some great veggie options. Very very loud and busy on a Saturday night though, makes conversation difficult. Energetic atmosphere if that's what you're looking for.

Place is nice. Service is good but they forget you at times. Sirloin flavour is great. Don't forget to book. Parking can be a challenge.

Great British style pub close to stadium

A hidden gem

Great pub.

Still a great pub to have a beer after work with a colleague and talk car industry stuff.

Came here on busy SANFL grand final day. Quick service and food was really nice. Will be back 👍

Not behd

Curry night Tuesdays, always delicious. The Goat curry is so good!

Great Dip Platter The Salsa with it was best ever Schnitzel was also really good Service excellent

We dine frequently at The British hotel, so much so that we see it as our preferred restaurant of choice! Good substantial food, excellent portions and discretely attentive service. We will definitely choose The British whenever we are in the City on business or pleasure.

Loverly service from staff kind and made jokes food was cooked well crispy chips and tasted good 👍

Such a beautiful hotel.. good for a drink excellent for its food ..A must to go too.

Fantastic kangaroo steak! Great service and atmosphere too! Can’t wait to come back for another meal!

Well done to all, good grog, service fantastic 👏

Always good to be back in this beautiful historic building. Food is above average for pub grub. They do try to deviate from norm. The British Hotel is an institution in North Adelaide and long may that continue.

I really wanted to try kangaroo while I was in Australia and I’m so glad I came here. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had, better than beef!

Good quality pub food. Open fire. Interesting and extensive range of beers and ales on tap. On street parking easily obtained due to non commercial location. Well done Australian translation of a traditional English pub.

Staff were friendly, but service was very slow.

Cosy pub with great atmosphere both in summer and winter. Good selection of beers, always with some local or exotic beers you can't get everywhere.

Great pub in Port Adelaide - great food - excellent band. Great friendly staff.

Lovely weekday lunch. Battered fish is the best ever …. light and crispy just as it should be 👍. Chips were perfect. Partners prawn, crab, chilli pasta I’m told was divine! Generous servings, open fire, friendly, professional staff.

Great atmosphere and good food. Great find

Vasta scelta di birre in un locale accogliente e di tradizione Peccato per la tecnica di spillatira che non permette di liberare la C02 in eccesso

Came back after four years as we heard there were new owners. Last time gave them only 2 star as we thought the service was absolutely terrible with the staff very rude and inhospitable. This time however the staff were very attentive and made us feel welcoming. We had the Lambs Fry which my partner loved, only comment being he thought the lambs fry was a little overcooked for his liking. I had the Beef, Mushroom & Guiness Pie which was a bit of a let down as the filling was delicious but the pastry was underdone and therefore tasted a bit floury. We also had a bottle of our favourite and very rarely seen on menus of the Yangarra Estate Grenache Rose (delicious). It's a good menu so will come back to try something else.

It sounds like a feast fit for royalty at the British Hotel! The meals were splendid. Perfectly seasoned sausages atop creamy mashed potatoes, bathed in a rich, savory gravy—the epitome of classic British comfort in their bangers and mash. And let's not forget the Guinness pie, a marvel of tender beef chunks swimming in a hearty Guinness-infused gravy, wrapped snugly in golden, flaky pastry. For aficionados of British fare, the fish and chips await: crispy, golden batter enveloping tender fish, a symphony of textures and flavors that never fails to satisfy. But ah, the pièce de résistance—the sticky date pudding! Picture moist, flavorful cake drenched in a luscious toffee sauce, crowned with a decadent scoop of vanilla ice cream. It's a dessert revelation that leaves a sweet imprint on your palate, making it a must-try for all dessert enthusiasts. And what's a British pub without a proper pint? The Guinness stout on tap, poured to perfection with its creamy head and robust flavor, is a toast to tradition and craftsmanship. Whether enjoyed alongside your meal or savored solo, it promises a delightful experience. Whether you're drawn by the hearty pub fare, the excellent beer selection, or the cozy atmosphere, a visit to the Black Bull guarantees a memorable and satisfying experience. Don't deny yourself the pleasure of indulging in their sticky date pudding—it's truly the best you'll find!

Good old British food. Had the sausage n mash. Very tasty. Friendly service.

Traditional pub done well!

Food solid. Drinks a touch pricey

Cozy atmosphere, good food, reasonable price, friendly staff. Day specials are great

Have been eating here weekly with the wife and kids. The kids love the food here, especially the chips. Everything we have ordered is delicious. I have been in hospitality for over 15 years and I must say the food and staff are spot on. Paul and the staff are what I would expect if they were my staff in my business. They are very well trained and very attentive when ordering and taking the plates. Food is a 10/10 and haven't had a bad one ever. We live near by so will keep visiting and supporting :)

Good old style pub, what's not to like

Guinness hit the spot and lamb shanks were great. A character filled watering hole.

Great food, friendly staff and plenty of options on the menu.

Ordered roast of the day and it was a huge serving with all the trimmings.

Not sure how the reviews are high here, we were very disappointed in the slowness of the service and the venue was far from full. Took our initial drinks order and the waitress couldn't make one beer on tap and once drink order taken that took 20 minutes to arrive. Food was so so. My steak was ordered medium and we managed to get that wel done, the green curry was watery and over spiced to cover the fact it had no flavour and my nieces bowel of ice cream had bits of broken hard plastic that cut her gums in it, and when told no apology from kitchen or floor manager or to the 8 year old. Overall a first and last visit here.

Their bangers and mash are a testament to classic British cuisine—perfectly seasoned sausages atop creamy mashed potatoes, all smothered in a rich, savory gravy. The Guinness pie is another standout, featuring tender chunks of beef in a hearty Guinness-infused gravy encased in a flaky, golden pastry. For those craving the quintessential British dish, the fish and chips do not disappoint: crisp, golden batter envelops tender fish. The crowning glory is undoubtedly the sticky date pudding. This dessert is a revelation, boasting a moist, flavorful cake soaked in a luscious toffee sauce, served with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. It’s a sweet finish that leaves a lasting impression, and many patrons declare it the best they’ve ever No British pub experience is complete without a good pint, The Guinness stout on tap is perfectly poured, offering a smooth, creamy head and the robust flavor that Guinness lovers cherish. Whether you’re sipping it alongside your meal or enjoying it on its own, it’s a delight. Whether you’re there for the hearty pub food, the excellent selection of beers, or the cozy lodging, you’re sure to have an experience that’s both memorable and satisfying. Don’t miss out on their sticky date pudding—it’s truly the best!

Lunched here with other Red Hat Ladies, and enjoyed it very much. One dessert was not quite up to standard and I was surprised at not getting charged. Well done, British

Great pub, great service and a great lication whats not to love !

Friendly,prompt good food
