Food was good and service was fantastic

Looks good. Service is okay, but the taste is disappointing 👎🏻👎🏻. The bitterness is overwhelming—feels like eating cancer. For the price, I expected the meat to be more tender and juicy. Overall, not recommended.

I had the salad bar with grilled chicken natural, with mushroom sauce, the stir fry veg a fav. Hubby had pork rib eye, with steak sauce, and salad bar Flavours Superb!

5 Interstate clients...all loved it .. several comments around the freshest ingredients and mix of dishes on the salad bar. Then yes drum roll - all great steaks and not a mouthful that wasn't savoured. Yes X Yes. Strongly recommend and make sure you book. Cya again...

點了scotch fillet，5分熟， 外酥脆，內部嫩又多汁， 是我最近吃過最好吃的牛排之一， 蘑菇醬很不錯，真材實料裡面很多蘑菇切片， 隨餐馬林薯外皮酥脆，裡面鬆軟， 沙拉自助吧也品項豐富用料實在， 第一次看到有真的乾酪丁放在自助沙拉裡的🧀 肉都是厚切， 牛排建議不要點超過五分熟， 不然嘴巴會很辛苦

Had the half rack of ribs and garlic sauce, it was so delicious that I can’t stop thinking about it. They melted in my mouth and were smoky and juicy and so full of flavour. Get the ribs and ask for the creamy garlic sauce you won’t be disappointed.

Arrived, seated quickly and ordered. Food arrived quickly and waitress quickly left. They weren't our meals! Two eye fillets down the drain. (Someone's getting yelled at for that!) Meals were nice but waitress was so keen to dump and run, wouldn't even stay to check our empty glasses!

Fantastic meals with lovely presentation, staff friendly and very efficient. Loved the salad bar. A lovely variety to chose from. Very quick to get meals and drinks out. A lovely atmosphere.

Dined here on a recent trip to Launceston and would highly recommend it to all. The night we were dined, there were families, couples & groups of all ages. It was very busy so obviously the locals know it is a go-to place. The best part for us is their salad bar, which is included with a main meal. If we went again we'd likely chose the salad bar as the main meal option. The variety of salads was excellent and every one we tried was fresh and tasty. I can also recommend the cold seafood platter! They have a great range of drinks, including wines and cocktails. The ambience is casual but the service isn't - the waitresses who attended us were prompt, efficient and friendly. Will certainly dine here again next time I'm in Launceston

Great steaks! Eye fillet was perfect. Salad bar wasn’t bad but definitely would have been a bit better/fresher/presented nicer. Was a great meal and the service was impeccable!!

Was looking for a late night feed and fortunately this restaurant was open, it’s really hard to find a place that is open for dinner on a weeknight at 9pm But thankfully this restaurant was open. And it didn’t disappoint. Loved the concept of the salad bar- so if you order a main you get access to the salad bar which is all you can eat. They have a big selection of various salads and cold pastas. If you get a smaller meal you can pay extra to access the salad bar. The rump steak was perfectly cooked to my specification and that’s all you can really ask for, served with a side of crunchy potatoes and a generous serving of mushroom sauce. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Shout out to the waitress with the pony tails- you were so genuine and kind when you attended to us and I hope no one is ever rude to you. Great customer service isn’t always easy to find and you were so warm and caring. Thank you!

Service was ok but the pork ribs was very dry. Portion of food is reasonable.

Food was quite bland and value not great. Steak overcooked and having to pay extra for chips is a bit ordinary for a restaurant of this calibre. Would not go visit again.

Jill house grill was nice restaurant in Lauceston. Unfortunately we dont have any booked but lucky we got table but at upstairs. I was amazed with the concept salad bar its good and interesting.

我們選了炭燒豬扒，配有甘筍湯，沙律是自助bar，有紅菜頭、蘑菇、蔬菜沙律。豬扒的醬汁很足夠，有黑醋調味不會太膩，但豬肉烤得有點粗糙和乾柴，幸好有很多醬汁。 餐廳裝修特別，據說在當地也挺受歡迎，總體而言可以一試。

Went in on the 23rd Dec - a Monday. Place was packed. Like really packed! No booking, but staff found a table in 10 minutes for us. Wait staff were excellent! They were everywhere. Steak was cooked perfectly to order. Definitely will go back - highly recommended.

Porterhouse BEST steak eaten in a long long time. Service excelent fresh oysters and salad bar too boot.

Recommend to book a seat for dinner. Lunch is less busy. I ordered a eye fillet which is soft, juicy. They provide free flow of salad and I love the fried seasoned ones with broccoli, carrot, beans and mushroom.

Suggest to reserve to ensure sufficient seats. The mains and kids meal do comes with salad bar which is rather good. Enjoyed the service of friendly staff and grilled steak, Pork, Prawn, Salmon.

Incredible Duck, a must try! Crispy skin, incredible plumb sauce too… and cannot fault the Salad bar…. ALSO must try the steak and Pork Ribs. Always a Friendly atmosphere too! Well done guys, look forward to coming back whenever I am visiting Launceston!

Steak and ribs were really good. A bit of a glitch with a declared intolerance, but they fixed it immediately and compensated us with the bill. Lovely staff.

Excellent succulent steaks. The salad bar is fully stocked and most welcome as generally most salads served with meals leave a lot to be desired. The deserts are divine especially the chocolate cake with ice cream. Table service was excellent.

Great steaks! Beer menu was a little limited and disappointing given how many small breweries are within a stone’s throw (I’d already been to Little Rivers), but can’t fault the food, venue and service. They squeezed us in without a booking at 7pm on a Friday night, which was appreciated.

During September 2024 we held our small & intermit wedding reception at the Jailhouse Grill. Maddison was amazing to deal with! She was very accommodating & decorated our private seating area perfectly, just as we requested. We thougherly enjoyed our 3 course lunch meal. Our overall experience at the Jailhouse Grill, made our special day even more special, thank you again!!

they have a good salad bar and cook their cuts of meat very well. It also has an old worldy kind of vibe. The staff was helpful and attentive, and we enjoyed the experience all around. We plan to return.

The atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. We had a party of ten, and while four of our steaks were not cooked to our preference, everything else was excellent.

The best meal we had in Launceston when on holidays with our children, fair prices we thought for a quality steak and many cuts and sizes to choose from. lovely salad bar that is complimentary when dining here, very attentive staff, certainly some of the best service we received on our trip in terms of friendliness, I do hope the owner appreciates the quality of staff they keep. Will most certainly return when back in Launceston and suggest others do the same after our experience :)

I'm from the steak heaven of King Island, I ordered my favourite piece of steak, the Porterhouse rare medium. Noah the chief at the Jailhouse cooked it to perfection, one of the best steaks outside of KI. Would recommend dining there to anyone that loves red meat...

Great location and genuine decor. Extensive menu for a wide range of dietary requirements and tastes. The steaks are of the best quality, tenderness and juicy charcoal flavour. Each of our three diners selected a different cut of steak, medium rump, small eye fillet and large scotch fillet. Each cooked differently well done, medium rare and rare. Yet all showed up within 20 minutes perfectly as requested and all served simultaneously. The salad bar is clean and fresh with serve yourself char grilled vegetables and pasta. Really delicious all round.
