5 stars for the staff, It’s why I keep returning but please add a more interesting wine range!
It's missing something....
I went with a friend for drinks a food, unfortunately our experience was horrible and we left with such a bitter taste with the treatment received from the girl working behind the bat ay the second floor, she was extremely rude and racist, making fun of our accent, making us repeat 3 times something to get her attention, I can't understand how someone like that can be working in hospitality or with customer, we went out to have a fun night and drove all the way there just to get such a coldness and rude attention. Won't recommend this place.
Booked a table for upstairs dining but when we went there…they made weird reactions and told us its fully booked so have to sit downstairs…we cane downstairs…no one came to help us..we found a table by ourselves in the corner..not the good one ..then the waitress came and told kitchen is closing soon….is this a way to treat customers ?? We haven’t sat and you told its closing🙄…its showing 2 am on the internet..We felt they are treating us like that bcoz we weren’t Australians…left the restaurant after that as we felt insulted 👎👎
Arran & Sunshine have the best service! Honestly had the best experice while here on a random Thursday night. Would highly recommend, felt very welcomed! Give them a raise!!!!
Had the best service by Arran & Sunshine! Best drinks and great vibes
Wonderful staff and food
Food was lovely, sauces lacked taste . Service very good . Was very busy being a Saturday night and we sat in beer garden which is right next to noisy Unley Road. ( noise did get less later ) . Being older we found the DJ was better for the younger crowd in attendance. Sounds like a bit of a whinge I know but I would suggest us older crowd would really enjoy this hotel on other nights .
It’s a hard one here… depends on who you get on the night. Bit of a Dr Jeckle and Mr Hyde. Both in the kitchen and the bar staff. With bountiful opportunities within walking distance I’d have thought they’d have improved but doesn’t seem to be happening.
It's always a pretty frustrating experience here and I doubt we will ever be back. We’ve booked online multiple times, only to show up and be told the section we booked is closed for a party or function. No heads up, no communication. On top of that, it’s hard to find staff, and when we do, they don’t seem too happy to be there. The food is good, but the service and organisation really need work.
Very good place to be, beer was good, soft drinks were good. Food was okay, Wagyu Sliders tasted a bit processed and my battered fish was okay just lacking seasoning in the batter, fries were insanely good and the chicken burger and schnitzel looked great also. Will be returning though
Went in for dinner on a less crowded evening, and we enjoyed the service. Food and drink orders were served quite fast, not forgetting the friendly attendants.
We went for a team end of year lunch and they made that extra effort for us, with Bon Bons and table settings without any extra fuss. The team really enjoyed the event. Many thanks to The Unley.
The staff were really great but lacked a bit of experience. I would definitely recommend going there because the more people go the better it should get. It has the potential to be amazing again.
The vegan burger I ordered was not cooked through, barely seared. Almost inedible. Worse than a token effort.
Food was on point. Service however left much to be desired. Drinks didn't come out until the staff who were standing around talking were reminded, staff didn't have the knowledge needed to tell the red wines from the white and there was no sign of happiness from any of the staff. The place could use a lighter brighter make over.
Awsome food and upstairs area for an beer. The manager was very attentive and welcoming.
Just found out the pub ( my local) won't be open australia day , not only is this un Australian even tho the date doesn't even fall on the correct date of what they are whinging about it is such a shame as it is a beautiful place but I'm going to assume it's not Australian owed an has chinese or Indian investors overseing it which is also wrong in the first place , thanks for the memories but never again will I step foot in this venue.
Do not support a pub that bans Australia Day celebrations. Should be ashamed of yourself.
Absolutely pathetic to hear that you are not celebrating Australia day, if you think that's the best way of fixing the problem then you've got no idea. Australia is for all Australians and maybe you need to bugger off to another country.
Don't go to this pub, they don't celebrate our great nation.
Yummy grilled broccoli top!!!
Seriously, these guys are so amazing! Super kind, amazing service, and great for chat during slow hours. Deffo wanna highlight Zoe and Daniel who served me. They were so kind and amazing and will come back dragging my friends with me!
had a function upstairs, food was tasty but was a bit smaller than I expected.
Simply awesome venue Highly recommend
The rare experience of the chicken schnitzel meat being as good as the crunchy coating, being as good as the crunchy chips with perfect season, being as good as the truffle mushroom gravy with actual mushroom slices, being as good as the fresh salad and it's flavoursome dressing. Perfect!
Un-tasteful atmosphere inclusive of decor, layout and quality of amenities. Food was ok, but still slightly pricey. Not surprised I don’t know anyone who frequents here and I have no intention to either because it’s not an attractive place for casual dining or formal functions.
Five stars to the Unley for their amazing service and the food was awesome too! A short search for a place to have a Bucks show lunch led me to choose the Unley hotel. Their online reservation system was easy and a simple request put me in touch with Carlien and Nicole who did some amazing decorating for the special guy. Extraordinary customer service. Special shout out to Zoe who served us on the day. The food was also well priced, fast to arrive and good quality.
There is a very friendly lady behind the counter!
Good food great staff
Had a great meal at The Unley last night. The meal was great and the service was the standout. The lady who served us was an absolute gem - helpful, kind, lovely, above and beyond. The fireplace was perfect for a wild wintery night and the food was tasty and plentiful. Glad we chose to go there.
Had an 18th here. Didnt seem very well organised. Food came out either too hot to eat or cold. Staff on the bar seemed nice and made good espresso martinis
Absolutely fantastic experience working with The Unley for my best friend’s Bachelorette day-event. The staff were accomodating and friendly from start to finish. The pricing was very reasonable for the venue hire, drinks were tasty, finger food was delicious and the space itself was cozy, bright and easily customisable. It was a breeze having our event here and I would recommend to anyone.
We rang only 30 mins before arriving , it was amazing that they managed to make up a table for 16 of us so quickly. A great menu with vegetarian options, wonderful service , and a great MOCK cocktail range. Service was awesome , everyone was more than happy with thier meal
Went to the Unley this week. I was very excited because I hadn't been there for over 15 years. Whilst the food was lovely and the servings generous, in my seafood basket my first prawn had some of the 'poop shoot' still in it. So I didn't eat any of the others. The service left a lot to be desired. We had to sit at the front bar because there was a function upstairs. That was fine. We were just having a casual family dinner anyway. I asked to see the front bar menu and was told there wasn't one. We had to pay the upstairs restaurant prices for a front bar. I have never heard of this in any hotel. I'm happy to pay restaurant prices if I'm sitting in a restaurant but not if I'm sitting at the front bar. There's no ambience, it's very sterile. I asked what the chef's specials were and told there weren't any. (?????) The food took a while and it was only because I knew there was a function upstairs that I knew the reason. Our plates were not cleared, despite the waitress coming over and asking if our food was okay. I asked for a pepper grinder and was given a salt and pepper shaker (???). I gave up. Sadly, won't be back. And, neither will the four people that I was with. Luckily I was in good company so we enjoyed the evening. I can't imagine anyone popping in on their way home from work for a quick beer at the front bar and paying $27 for a burger or $30 for a steak sandwich. It cost $188.00 for five people (no drinks - just table water) to sit at the front bar. Very disappointing. I didn't bother to say anything to the waitresses about the food. What's the point? Just won't be back. I guess from the other reviews it's a 'hit or miss' type of pub now. Luckily I was paying the bill myself so my guests didn't need to worry about that. Bit sad really because I loved this pub back in the day.
Poor service, over priced, no one here is a bonus.
It’s all about good food and personalised services offered, great place to dine with family or group of friends enough space to host good Party,
The team at the Unley gave my partner and I the best anniversary! Food was incredible and well priced, drinks were good and of course our host Martin and Nicole were exceptional! Thank you guys, we made a wonderful memory here
Thursday afternoon /evening, drinks & a family catchup. Ordered share plates, food was quite nice but my review is to commend the exemplary service from the lovely girl with the dark curly hair & glasses; so friendly, accommodating & helpful & such a pleasant demeanour, she is absolutely an asset to the hotel. She was the difference between an average pub visit & a wonderful one & I thank her for her outstanding service.
I held my 50th party here and it was such an easy, stress free experience. The staff were very helpful with setting up and packing up and through out the night. Very affordable packages and the food was delicious. Communication was great as well. Highly recommend The Unley for your next event, I’ll certainly come back. Many thanks to all involved.
From the atmosphere to the food, everything was impeccable. Came here to try it out for the first time while we were scoping venues for a small work dinner. The food was incredible and our service by Arthur and the waitresses just made us smile. We even popped into the gaming room on our way out to put a tenner in the pokies and the lady in there gave us incredible service too! We were looking for an event space and instead have found a new spot for date night. Thank you to all the staff!
Friendly staff and good food. Atmosphere and heating were great.
Tonight we landed through recommendation, we ordered the parmi's all good and the Burgers, I was served by Arthur who knows wine well, the Langhorne Creek Shiraz well priced and great value, all up very happy. Cheers from George Wine Valley Tours
Great food and service! Casual atmosphere and very easy to book for a large group. No need to worry about splitting bill - we just ordered and paid individually from the table all night! Drinks brought to us from the great barstaff - will be back for sure.
I called the day prior to make a reservation for a small birthday dinner (8 people). They gave options as to the setup (where in the venue and type of tables). When we arrived on the night, table had been set up with flower decorations, candles, table cloths and the staff gave us a really warm welcome. Made the Birthday girl feel very special. The service was genuinely so kind and thoughtful throughout the night. We had brought our own cake, but staff gave us a knife to cut, plates to serve, and even a candle lighter! Only feedback id give is to turn the music up a little bit (as it was very quiet) and take the sad songs out of rotation so that the happy vibes stay high! Overall recommend making bookings here. Staff made it an enjoyable experience :)
Mmmmm not the worst but also a ray of sunshine
It was okay
We attended a private function upstairs. The staff were great, so friendly and helpful. Service was excellent. The food for the function was very nice.
I live just down the street and had never been here before. I have discerning taste and thought the food was so comforting and tasty, the service (the young woman working on Thursday night was super friendly and accommodating) first-rate. I’d come all the time. Love it.
Nice atmosphere and interior Service was fantastic Unfortunately food was underwhelming - Parma and Squid
We held our engagement party upstairs on the weekend. The entire process from enquiring, booking, food selection and on the night service was incredibly professional. The entire team were so helpful and easy to communicate with! Special thanks to Carlien for her assistance leading up to the event and on the night coordination. All of our guests commented on what a great venue it was! We all had a great night thanks to the amazing staff. Special mention to the mirror wall decor in the terrace that caught everyone’s eye 🪩
Great place for a nice meal.
The food was average. Southern Unley fried chicken maybe more like Ingram's tenders. The Nachos was okay nothing special and the peach salad with no salad was weird. disappointing for 75 including drinks.
Great venue, staff and well priced food. I would go back...
great burger, cold beer warm atmosphere, lovely staff
We had my dear Fiancès birthday tonight! Our server Tyson was so thoughtful and friendly. He works so hard for the wonderful customer experience and is so well to get along with. We were joking as he was clearing our table and was cleaning tables as we were packing up to leave. Tyson is a great server and made our night extra special with the cake we brought in! Thanks Tyson - you're a legend! 😁 We loved the food too! The salmon yum!
Like …. 0 Beer was rank in the front “ empty” bar tasted like chemicals .. absolutely vile Waitress was …,yeah sorry the lines are probably (%#%%##<~~}} … no apologies and no real interest .. well guess what .. never again .. service was like beer … off !
A bit dated and a bit on the pricey side.
Good food and friendly and helpful staff
The food was not bad but not awesome, and it was $30-40 (special was a bit less, schnitzel) so in terms of a lunch time during work day and good value, not so much. Not many gluten free options at all also. Good upstairs outdoor eating area with shade and fans, nice staff. Chips extra salty and gluten free substitute of potatoes was a very small quantity (ordered grilled instead of battered for gf, fish and 'chips')
Every visit is high quality food. Thin battered crispy fish can only be found here. Very good location and friendly staffs.
We went on boxing day so it was very quiet. Staff, food and service was excellent
Super Christmas Day lunch with the family, in a beautifully decorated room with a relaxed atmosphere. The festive food was plentiful and delicious. Special thanks to all staff but especially Carlien and Kari-Anne for their friendly and impecable service. The Unley comes highly recommended for Christmas Day.
