Friendly staff and service
Cool play area for the kids, pretty average food though...
Alamein FC held our annual 2025 Season launch in the Longitude function room. Ben & the team were fantastic & catered to every one of our requests from set up, access to facilities & food requirements. It was a fantastic night & the venue & service made it even better. Thanks again Kathy President Alamein FC
Great family pub and good food
Family focused, less fine dining. Food was tasty, service was mixed. Some great people and some less so, but nothing rude or untoward.
It would appear (and taste) that the Chef has given up!! Hats are optional so don’t be surprised if you get an extra side with your dinner. Moving onto the food… We ordered the vegetable stir fry noodles as our first main which came sans veg apart from onion. I’m thinking the chef missed the veg as they were crying from cutting so much onion! The 2nd main was steak with mash and veg. The mash was cold as were the veg which also presented as translucent. I did order mushroom sauce but it was clearly in the back car park with the veg. Anyways if you’re heading to the Matthew Flinders I’d suggest the kids Spag is the best option but at $17 they don’t shy away from excellent margin but what else would you expect from a woolies pub!
the food was average, from our table... my salmon was nice but served with a cold pasta, not good, only salmon was worth eating. schnitzel fell apart as the batter just fell off the chicken, very poor, i wanted the roast of the day and they ran out. sofias is way better.
Service was great, and the fish was fresh.
Del was fantastic
Everything was, very good.,,,, in the gaming bar, teipur, and, pathum, both of them, were very good, in customer service. 5 out of 5.,,,,
Old-fashioned brilliant service at the MF!! We were served by two lovely friendly helpful polite staff who worked hard the entire time we were there, and couldn’t do enough for us. Special mention for their constant cleaning of tables & actually making sure they were clean. Food was great & I only took a star off because they’d run out of the roast 😢. This is not our local but we’ll be back because you just don’t get this kind of service everywhere. Special mention to Mitch & Sam - legends!
The steak was more chewy than a packet of gum. I ordered medium rare it was medium to well, the gravy in the cup was cold and the chips tasted like cooking oil.
The food is nice, as expected. Value for money is great and kids have a blast. The gotcha to this place is “service” 🤯 it is almost a 50/50 split between “Great Service” and “Horrible Service”. It is mostly few individuals who obviously don’t like their guests 😀 I have been to this restaurant at least 15 times, it is very convenient for my family. Not a single time I didn’t have that one person who ruins my night. Honestly, my anxiety peaks during the moment food is being served. That said, the other 50% are super pleasant and accomodating folks. One example, “Hi, I want a table for 8 people”, “Do you have a booking?” “No, it would be awesome if we’re seated at the area at the back” … the guy’s tone changed “YOU SHOULD HAVE BOOKED IF YOU HAVE SUCH A REQUEST”
Jamie looked after everyone so well. great food and range of drinks.
The service in the bistro is almost non existent from the wait staff and they are not interested. Went over to the bar which was unattended at the time, with two waitresses/bar attendants chatting to each other at the food order counter and tried to call them over. I'll be there in a minute she said. But the most disappointing thing about the table service is the dirty plates being left on tables until closing time. It astounds me. Wait staff didn't even bother to come over to clear the plates and we are left with them sitting there for 2 hours after we've eaten. I actually felt like taking the plates over myself so at least our table would be clear. Surely the dishwasher would want the dirty plates sooner than later? It's as if the wait staff just didn't care. Very ordinary.
Reasonably priced, in particular likes the kids meals plus “larger kids meals” which was a bonus for our teens.
Sports bar area is a letdown. Small space and small TV's don't give you that sports bar vibe. The service at the bar was great though.
21/2/25 Lazy bar staff, poor service with poor attitudes. Food was underwhelming for the premium pricing. The waitress was good, but not nearly good enough to make up for the 2 boys behind the bar.
Comfortable and clean unit. Shower has a nice modern overhead rain-shower style outlet. Regular servicing and friendly staff. Nice range of menu in the bistro, and they can provide a very hot sauce on request. Overall very good value.
The food was burnt, overpriced (kids nuggets and chips was $13!!), and arrived at all different times. If you’ve got kids, the arcade and playground right next to the dinning area is great, but certainly don’t come here for the food.
Food was pretty good, ordering was a bit of a nightmare between the app forced on you and the queuing process. Prices are not as marked, again without an app the most clearly advertised drink specials are simply misleading. The playground and the arcade is fantastic, gives families a chance to talk to each other while the kids play. Overall with a bit of customer service and tolerance, it’s a decent joint. Probably needs to think about the digital options and whether they improve the customer experience.
We celebrated my daughter’s 30th Birthday with family and Melbourne relatives, 22 in all. We had a lovely time. My brother recommended the place as it is central when his family get together.
This place is shocking stayed here with my boy the staff where extremely rude , when they clean the rooms daily they wernt cleaning the rooms they would just change towels and that was it leaveing the place a mess I had to ask 3 times for them to clean the room then one of there staff told me that I shouldn't be rude to there staff , when I was never rude was just wanting the bedding changed and the floor vacuumed the place is the pits the staff obviously don't like there jobs and want to do the bare minimum , honestly save Ur money and find another hotel it's deffinately not worth it . Even the food in the bar is too expensive and wasn't very nice the best part was the kids gaming area .
We held our end of year staff Christmas function at the Matthew Flinders in their function room and could not have been happier with the afternoon. The feedback from staff has also been 100% positive. Lauren was awesome in organising the event for us. We had an We had a buffet style Setup For the food with a for the food with a bar tab for drinks and the whole afternoon went off without any issues at all. We will definitely be booking for 2025 early to ensure we get our date.
Fantastic grilled fish n chips
Me and my 3 kids for lunch, plenty of room for the kids to play, and the meals were very good.
Best Caesar salad and Chicken Schnitzel ever - great service as well. This place is a gem !
Nice large pub, served quickly treated toorer food, we had steak and pork chop very tender but I think they can improve their accompaniments the coleslaw was overdressed and the corner overcooked and I think a sauce or gravy with the pork would be nice.
Bad food, took 40 mins to come out, drink was bad. Accused of vaping, security guard kept staring at me. Bsd hospitality, after 40 mins food came out without fork lol
Some good food, gambling, bar and bowling. Also a playground for kids. You can also stay the night at the hotels there, very close to Chadstone Shopping Centre.
We liked the way the hotel is run. Friendly and helpful staff and a family-friendly feel. As seniors we were made welcome in both the accommodation and dining room (good menu options, generous serves). Senior staff very competent and friendly. Some junior bar staff still learning the ropes. Our room-service staff member went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable for our week long stay - thank you!
I came here for my birthday for good food and drinks and while my kids were also entertained. We had a lovely time ☺️ We were served by Dal who was fantastic and so kind ☺️
Bistro needs better management. 27th December, we came in at around 7:30-8:00pm and ordered four cocktails. There were only other two groups seated in the bistro, and three staff members behind the bar as well as some people running food. I watched as one girl made the drinks, while the other two blokes stood around having a chat. Let be honest it’s probably a batch cocktail anyways and if he’s standing behind the bar he should have an RSA and know how to make a basic drink. We waited over 20 minutes for the drinks, and one was missing, we were confused and asked to see the receipt but the guy just showed us our docket. Turned out the last drink was still waiting to be made. At this point the girl was packing down the bar, the two guys were faffing about doing a whole lot of nothing, presumably the manager was seen cashing up the register- but no one was making my drink. I had to go up to the bar and specifically ask them to make it, took another 10 minutes. I understand wanting to get the bar packed down and leave work as early as possible (especially since one of the guys seemed in a rush to get to the pokies afterwards! 😒) but there is absolutely no reason to be waiting that long on four drinks when the bistro was basically empty. Also the sports bar over serves people, need to review the RSA if you’re letting blokes slur their words and still buy beer.
Food came out piping hot which was very tasty as well. There were no lumps in my sauce. Pathum and Peytour were very caring towards customers too
Great food, friendly service
We were in a function room that was too long to be practical, and although the food tasted great, it was slow to serve, and they ran out of meals! The last couple of tables had to wait another half hour for them to heat up some more food. Special diets weren't well catered for. The function was due to finish at 2pm but they had only just started serving desserts at 1.50pm so some of us left without ever getting the chance to try it. I hope that meant they at least wouldn't run out of servings!
Overpriced dishes. Maybe a Melbourne thing. Food taste was good but $$$. Accomodation was very substandard. No room servicing on Sunday.!!! Quite primitive.
Food was good and staff were friendly.
Good Food and good vibe. We enjoy going to Matthew Flinders.
Good place to have fun day out
Use to be so much better then what it is now
It was alright, but one of the drinks we were served had an old lipstick stain on the glass!
Was a good night food was great and Kevin bloody wilson was even better. Went to pinball expo and that was fantastic. Spent the hole weekend there. Saturday night had a meal. Not sure if when I was there last, you got new chief but not to any explanation. Calamari pepper well the smell like it was off. Tried it and soft like eating water. Parma well the chicken had no taste. But will give it another go next time. Thanks to the venue for having the expo.
I have been a frequent visitor to the gaming venue for many years and always wore a dress hat, not a baseball cap. Nobody ever said anything. But the other day, an overzealous security guy ordered me to either take it off or wear it back to front. He said that it was the law" and I had to comply. Is this the training that is given to your security staff? Don't they know the difference between a baseball cap and a dress hat. I would like to see the legislation regarding this order as the security guy said it was "law". Please advise me."
The air conditioning was as chilly as the I-couldn't-be-bothered-being-here service. Home cooked fish, chips and snail bait salad - not a compliment. Very ordinary. These days you can buy better pre-prepared ingredients from the supermarket and it would taste better. The promise of the Toblerone cheesecake was not delivered: like eating sweet cold clay. The decor is appropriately bland to complete the picture of nothing special. Mid-week dining. One other couple. We had a long chat in a quiet space.
Wexattebded an event here, not to eat. Unfortunately, it was scorching hot inside.
Stayed here twice for two nights with work. Reception and cleaning staff are excellent. Rooms are comfy and spotless. Coles and Dan Murphy’s are within walking distance. Didn’t have the time to eat here but will fix that next time. Highly recommended.
A great disappointment for an evening meal with my family. The floor was a mess - bread crumbs everywhere, place smelled funny and the service was abysmal. No one gave us menus or greeted us for the first five minutes after we seated at the table. The cups had stains and the food wasn't hot enough. I guess I won't be visiting this place again. Management: if you are reading this, please rip out the carpets and replace it with floorboards in the dining area. Update 22/11/2024: Looks like they have cleaned up their act and the dining area looks a lot more cleaner. Food is also better. Service is good .
Four of us met there to celebrate our lfriiend’s birthday. I mentioned to a staff (Lauren I think her name was) she offered us a cake with a candle and we sang happy birthday including the staff member . it was lovely and very memorable.
Very good service!Room very clean!
I use to go there all the time when first moved here 13 year's ago and had counter meals. Then I lost my brother and went there that night and the security person(no 40-41)made it a nightmare.Wouldn't give his name that was 2-3 months ago.Gave video to relevant authorities
