We love the Sorrento Portsea RSL. It's such a relaxed warm, friendly and welcoming place run by devoted locals. We especially love the flag raising ceremony every Australia Day where locals speak of their relatives who fought for the freedom we enjoy today, a member sings our National anthem and a great BBQ is supplied. You must get there early to make sure you get a seat. We'll worth the visit and great to support the RSL

The others enjoyed their food which is the reason for 2 stars. I assumed there’d be vegan options being a Thai restaurant so didn’t worry about calling ahead like I normally do. I tried to ask for entrees made vegan like veg spring rolls or veg rice paper rolls and mains made vegan like soups and salads but was told everything had fish sauce except a $30 stir fry. Noodles couldn’t even be made vegan. I ended up getting steamed vegetables and rice, unfortunately pretty disappointing!! I’ve never not been properly catered for like this, avoid if you have any dietary restriction.

Very good experience , food was good and the staff were very polite and friendly.. Will go back there again.

Lovely venue for bands to play at. Staff are friendly, helpful and polite to everyone.

In 1975, AC/DC had a music gig here, it was my first time seeing them play. Fond memories.

1st visit. Although smaller than other RSL venues i found it pleasant without the pokies..good size stage for some entertainment. I'll go back.

What a lovely, relaxing evening we have enjoyed at the Sorrento RSL. Super relaxing atmosphere with greatly priced and amazing food. Absolutely a hidden gem of the peninsula. We’d love next time we visit to have a game on the full sized pool room!

Thai Restaurant is fabulous as well. But we did witness a very angry patron spitting dummy in a very angry and inappropriate manner as she departed... mentally disturbed... other customers offered to let her go without paying as she was doing a meltdown or tantrum. Definitely should call police if she acts in public like that again.

Foods was cheap but terrible. Dry fish, soggy calamari. Mushy peas were chewy and tasted like they were about 2-3 years old. Was only 25 for a main though

A slightly hidden gem. All the charm of an RSL, but they've got a local cafe outfit doing the food called The Kitchen. Great food. Lovely service.

Friendly helpful staff. Located in an out of the way spot, you'll have to look for it. Volunteer run & no pokies. Live music every Sunday. Small menu in bar/tavern & Thai with larger menu on the other side. Nice selection of RSL memorabilia

Have enjoyed great nights at Sorrento Thai at the RSL previously, and tonight we tried the brand new bistro on the other side: THE KITCHEN SORRENTO bistro, which just opened last week. There were 11 of us including kids. WOW. We had all our mains for $25. Kids meals for $10. Yes very good value in Sorrento!! My wife said it’s the best Calamari she’s had in a while. I had a very nice Parma with really great chips. And the drinks were cheap! Gotta say that the RSL is worth a visit. The expansion that has been going on there is a very welcome addition to Sorrento.

Enjoyed the new revamped bar and bistro with a group of 11. Quality food for decent prices. Kid friendly. The service was great too. Would definitely go back.

Exceptional Thai dining experience! The ambiance captures the essence of Thailand, and the attentive staff adds to the warm atmosphere. From flavorful Tom Yum soup to perfectly spiced salad, each dish reflects authentic Thai cuisine.

It gets better each time I come. We had a great Christmas Lunch there last Monday.

Thai food at its best. Prada the owner of the business is unbelievable. She makes all the sauces to each dish. Food is really nice and her prawns are really a delight as an entre for a group of four. Drinks are purchased through the RSL section which is good if a member also. Good on you Prada

Great atmosphere

Joey and myself got married and had our reception at the Sorrento Portsea RSL, we both couldn’t rave about it enough, the staff are beyond friendly, Hienz especially helped us set up and decorate we had the most wonderful time and we highly recommend for anyone trying to cut their budget especially at the moment with the price of everything so high, we had such a wonderful experience dealing with this RSL, we will be back again for sure!! Thank you so very much to all the staff/ volunteers we couldn’t rave enough about you all!!

Small but pleasant, great place to get a drink with friends while waiting for the ferry.

Great RSL hidden away off the Main Street. Bar staff (who I think might’ve been the owners) were super friendly and welcoming to us. As you would expect from an RSL is a pretty basic setup, but the drink prices are cheap and beer is cold!

We came for the Thai food and met a local gem..Parada, the hostess at the restaurant, a real character beloved of the locals who dine here often, polite service and great food, friendly pub staff next door too

We went to the Vietnamese restaurant in the RSL. Super friendly staff, unbelievable tasty food and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

3.5/5 Called in for a pre dinner drink initially. The service was old school as you'd expect and friendly enough The drinks were all commercial CUB beers but the shiraz was good. All drinks for dinner are over the bar. We ate at the Thai restaurant which is in the club. The service there was very Thai and very welcoming. The food was alright for a regional restaurant with some good options. The same peanut sauce was used for all the entrees being tofu, curry puffs and roti bread. For mains we had fried rice which was ok. Rather plain overall. My massaman beef was thin strip's of meat, not chunky pieces but it was surprisingly still ok. The meat was tender, and the curry sauce ok too. The boiled rice was a bit dry, but ok too. Overall this wasn't a bad night,the service definitely helped provide a laugh. Or maybe it was wine? Haha

Great friendly atmosphere. Awesome staff. Includes Sorrento Thai next door that has excellent quality food. As well as dining in the restaurant they will bring snacks to the lounge for you while you listen to music and have a beer or wine.

If you want type 2 diabetes eat here. Everything single thing was EXTREMELY SWEET at the restaurant even the rice!! I think they got confused between the salt and the sugar. If you want desert come here.... and order anything off the menu. Nice staff though.
