If you need to be in Sorrento, you need to stay at Hotel Sorrento. Include a meal at Shihuishi, superb !!
Awesome accomodation with great food and friendly hospitality. Leah was the best host and catered for all of our needs during our stay. Thanks and we will be back
Had an amazing night with 30 of my family members on the rooftop, have been going to the pub very frequently for many years. Had an incredible experience with Renee who made the experience incredibly easy and enjoyable for all of us on a busy night. Without her we wouldn’t have had the experience we did. Thank you Hotel Sorrento and thank you Renee!
A magical stay
A fabulous location with extensive options for activities and meals and great rooms. The meals were exceptional. It is not a cheap option however.
What a vibe. People everywhere busy busy make sure you book.
We all had a brilliant evening at the Rooftop & ShiHuiShi for celebrating a 60th, thanks to the entire team of staff.
Very disappointed with dinner! Had to send chicken snitzel back twice that was clearly not cooked and for $36 you would expect it not to come out of the freezer! Another member of our group had the lamb shoulder, which was dry and tasteless. Wont be rushing back!
Wow Hotel Sorrento Thankyou for our special night away such a wonderful retreat. Thankyou to the lovely Michelle for her service and friendliness. The Classic rooms were spotless, comfy with spectacular views of the bay. The pool magnificent & restaurant for breakfast delicious A++… can’t wait to visit again. Mel & Paul Savage. 😊
Food very average. Dessert was only saving grace. Eye fillet overcooked. Poor service, poor parking
security assaulted multiple patrons absolute disgrace of a place
Near uncooked schnitz, with watery gravy, watery burger making everything on the plate soggy and unappealing. Not what should be expected with high prices.
My husband and I came here for lunch today and we really enjoyed our experience, the Hotel was beautiful, our waitresses were very knowledgeable, informative and professional also very lovely, the food was absolutely delicious with very generous serving sizes, it's a beautiful view looking down at the water, we had come over on the ferry from Geelong. Thankyou for a lovely afternoon we will definitely come back soon, keep up the great work 🍰🥂🍞☕️🧂
Beautiful old pub with great views of the bay.
Delicious food, gorgeous place
Rooms very comfortable and clean. Coffee pod machine produces a liquid that is not coffee. Breakfast ‘included’ but $8 extra for a bottle of supermarket kombucha? Staff have all been wonderful Dinner last night was wonderful Now… to last night. Emergency evacuation at 1.30am. Not the hotels fault. Ok. NO STAFF ON SITE. No one to guide the evacuation, assist guests that may have required it, check that all rooms were clear. Fire services finally arrive - go about their job. Alarm turned off. Guests who could access their rooms, return without an ‘all clear’ from fire services. All clear finally determind. Approx 1 hr after then while thing started, guests allowed to return to rooms. Still no staff available to assist this process. Guests wandering around trying to find an entrance as the main doors locked. The whole process was not acceptable. It will be interesting to see what spin is put on it and how this situation will be managed. UPDATE: met with hotel owner - we are 4 star not 5 so not required to have staff on site 24hrs; we donate $25k to local CFA to be a priority if an incident occurs; usually the first responders arrive very quickly BUT unfortunately last night - shucks- they were elsewhere so it was 20 mins before anyone could attend. It was only a steamy shower that set it off (which of course was not known when the alarms were going off). Don’t concede anything could have been done better, give the illusion of listening but don’t admit liability.
Lovely hotel and great staff
Possibly one of the best weekends we have had. What an amazing place! We loved it!!
Had a perfect weekend stay. The venue is amazing, the food was incredible and the staff were awesome. Highly recommend a weekend here without the kids.
This hotel was awful. SO EXPENSIVE and zero value. They didn’t even have water bottles in the room! Low hanging fruit! There is NO BELLHOP! You will be lugging your own luggage, sweating in the sun, up countless steps. The staff also leaves at 9. What 5 star hotel doesn’t have 24h staff? What if a guest had an emergency?? The food was truly terrible. Nothing cooked to the correct doneness and everything oversalted. Finally a I was an upgraded “sunset terrace” room where my “view” was of a big stone wall - positioned next to a loud and busy street. How dare they charge this price to stay here!
Came for lunch to the second level and then up to the rooftop. Thank you to Carol our waitress in the bistro, she was a delight and catered to all our needs
Erik was a very attemtive, caring bartender! He was very very professional. So good!
Would like to say thank you to Hotel Sorrento for the holiday away from home. Providing a great experience from the room to the night life, all round good vibes. Shout out to staff Thomas and Amy for the excellent service. Definitely staying again :) Kind regards Justin
Gorgeous hotel, loved the pool, the location, the bed was so comfy, perfect for a much needed sleep in!
we loved it
Service by hostess 26.1 and security was appalling. So rude and entitled, lacked 0 customer service skills not sure how the hostess even has her spot there. Was trying to get into the rooftop section which was at full capacity (Australia long weekend) asked her once if 3 could get in as we saw multiple times her let people out and let people in so we assumed it’s one in one out etc WRONGGGG she only let hot guys and girls she knew :D not sure what hold she has over security either but they loveddddd to yell and answer back genuine questions. She could see us waiting for hours wanting to go there not once did she make any sort of effort to try get us in. Made us feel so insignificant over a space that was available to everyone?? Understand it was booked with private events too but there was multiple occasions “random” guests got to go in. Me and my friends asked her about 100 times over the course of 2-3 hours and she always said no in the most entitled tone. Bar staff were 10/10 and the venue is really pretty but does attract that sort of crowd hence the host on her high horse (like literally go touch some grass) her tone and lack of customer service just killed the vibe. Literally if it was such an exclusive space that was restricted just say it’s a private event no access, it’s the fact she didn’t clarify anything, was rude and had no empathy or respect to anyone but people she knew… also spoke with multiple people around the area who were also “waiting” for NOTHING who also disliked her attitude. It costs nothing to be nice… maybe she needs to reconsider her job or have some retraining bc there are definitely some skill gaps there that need to be addressed asap.
We loved our stay at Hotel Sorrento. The room had an amazing aircon and the bed was super comfy. LOVED the shower. The pool was peaceful and beautiful on a Sunday and the staff were very attentive and warm.
If we could give more than 5 stars we would! We dine out a lot and have been to some very fancy restaurants, but walked away last night saying that this was the best restaurant experience that we’d had - delicious food absolutely, but the loveliest service we’ve ever experienced by far. We booked an 8pm dinner for 3 adults and 2 kids (7 and 10yo) and from the moment our incredibly warm and lovely waiter Anis seated us we felt so welcomed, even with our slightly tired kids. We ordered wine, a cocktail and mocktails for the kids which were all delicious. Our meals were faultless - schnitzels, chicken and eye fillet all perfectly cooked and took the flavours to a whole new level. And the desserts were drool worthy. It was our kids first time ordering not from a kids menu and just hearing them describe how much they loved every single bite of food (they cleaned their plates then got dessert) was so sweet. Anis engaged so warmly with them and us that when they (in their absolute excitement) asked him to tell the chef how much they loved their meals and that it was the best food they’d ever eaten, he offered to take them to meet her, which was such an incredible experience for them. We couldn’t stop talking about what a beautiful meal we had - this will definitely be our go to restaurant in Sorrento (and we’re here a lot!) from now on!!! Thank you so much!!
During our recent stay at the Hotel Sorrento, we were delighted with our classic room. It was peaceful and offered a partial bay view, which was a pleasant surprise. The hotel's proximity to Sorrento shops made for an easy walk, and we highly recommend it.
A beautiful birthday lunch. The 6 course Chefs menu suited our party perfectly and the dishes were delicious. The view from the window table was lovely and the service from Aubane was excellent. Thank you so much Hotel Sorrento!! Best regards, Grant.
A lovely place to stay away from the street crowds but close enough to walk to everything. We have been coming here for years and each time there are new renovations to explore! Our poolside room was all new. Modern, clean, comfortable and spacious.
We stayed here in January straight after our wedding and we could not have asked for a more perfect stay. The rooms are luxurious, the food is fabulous and we enjoyed using the pool. Highly recommend and we can't wait to visit again.
We had a great night at Shihuishi. The look and feel are intimate, and the staff were amazing. There are so many stand-out dishes. The Kingfish Crudo, Wagyu Beef Puff, and the Char Kway Teow - we will be back for more!
The rooftop bar, SALT, is a great location for a relaxing visit with nice views.
From the moment we checked in the tone was set for a great stay, our poolside room was beautiful. The poolside cocktails and delicious breakfast was fabulous.
So great! I’m always a big fan. Way better than anything else in Sorrento
Wonderful meal, wonderful view, wonderful service. Thank you.
Brunette girl standing on the rooftop entrance was very rude and aggressive more than once throughout our night. Disappointing because every other staff member was nice and had basic consumer service skills. Other than that great place
Enjoyed a great meal with impeccable service with our party of 10 recently but was very disappointed to learn upon enquiry with the staff that they don’t receive any tips left through digital payments. Can only assume these line the pockets of the establishment’s owners or management. Ultimately, we left a generous cash tip. To all patrons please remember to leave cash tips, never through digital payments.
Our party of 9 left the Hotel Sorrento Restaurant angry, frustrated and disappointed. We waited 1h 15mins for 7 parmas, a pasta and fish dish, all overly priced underwhelming pub grub. The parmas were 4/10 and that’s being generous. The pasta was over cooked and flavourless, and the fish special was served with inedible crusty, burnt potatoes, likely scraped off the tray. We will never dine there again. Bitterly disappointed.
Was charged a surcharge of over 2% on card payments despite not being able to pay in cash. This is expressly forbidden on the accc website where the total price has to be included if there is no way to avoid paying a surcharge. A surcharge of over 2% is also very high and seems like a way to add to the price rather than only recoup the costs of using card terminals as is required by law. When spending hundreds of dollars on drinks throughout the night I’d expect to be paying the advertised price rather than more than $3 being added to some of my drink orders.
The staff were all genuinely lovely. I stayed in a Hill suite no. 32. Very comfortable but I don't recommend this particular room as the view is very restricted and the car park is tiny! Great location, nice basic food offerings, lovely pool area if you can get a bed, nice roof terrace but no table service for drinks, only food which is confusing when using the app. Penny pinching (at this price point) is apparent in some areas such as restricted inclusive breakfast offering but really the location and staff make up for it and the place has a lovely ambience.
Thank you to the team at Hotel Sorrento for hosting such wonderful accommodation and meals. Our room was spacious, clean and tidy. The amenities were sufficient, the ambience was amazing. Close proximity to the bay, local shops, and reserve. Customer service was exceptional. Special thanks to Noel and Patricia who displayed patience and understanding when addressing the many questions and concerns we had when we initially arrived. We will definitely recommend Hotel Sorrento for overnight stay or a place for quality meals.
Probably the worst hotel experience I’ve had. Wouldn’t recommend to stay here.
The location is great and the place also looks great. We had dinner there with a bunch of friends and the food was not great. I think I had the second worst parma I've ever had here, the service was also not the best either. Would be good just for drinks. The new rooms looked nice too, but probably would not eat here again.
Come for the views not the food. We all ordered Schnitzels and parmas because it feels like a fail safe and most pubs do it pretty well. Oh boy were we wrong. Considering our expectations weren’t that high already, it’s surprising how disappointed we were (they were $34-$36 each, which we expected being in Sorrento). They were so dry, straight from the freezer to fryer. Normally fine if you can smother it in gravy. We tried three different types of the gravy and all of it was terribly done, watery and just plain wrong. It seems the one thing they did make from scratch was the worst. The slaw looked like it was pre-cut from a packet mix you get at woollies. Some plates had too much dressing while others had none. Sorry guys but it was one of the worst pub meals I’ve ever had. Views were great and service was friendly!
Hotel Sorrento is the best summer getaway, location is great, food options are great, the pool bar has very nice fruit options and the mini bar has a nice selection of snacks and drinks with very reasonable prices. I will definitely be back, my room was the one with the outdoor bath.
Wouldn’t allow people onto the rooftop bar based on “looks” which was verbalised by the attending door security. Blatantly lied about wait times only to allow others through constantly using the fall back of “we weren’t good looking enough”. Vile behaviour in a putrid classist establishment. Avoid at all costs.
Friendly staff, nice location
Lovely hotel in a beautiful location - our poolside terrace room was nice however I found it noisy at night with foot traffic and people talking and singing late at night - this disturbed our sleep and detracted from the enjoyment of the stay
J'ai adoré :-)
The dining staff we lovely but let me to you the staff to the rooftop were the most disrespectful people I’ve ever met! Not friendly at all!!
Lovely place and location, but honestly the most rude and unfriendly staff who made us feel very unwelcome. We ended up leaving very early as they threatened us - will not be returning!
Hotel Sorrento is located in an immaculate little town that is the perfect getaway for a relaxing holiday. We stayed in the sunset balcony rooms and it was incredibly peaceful and felt private and calm while still being connected to the hotels incredible ammenities. A spa visit is a must the staff are very lovely and provide a professional and personal service. PS breakfast was a daily highlight - cloudy apple juice for the win.
An oasis on the peninsula
Beautiful place and location. Did the bottomless brunch for a hens part in the Shihushi area and food and drinks were great! Staff were lovely and more than accommodating.
We loved our stay here. We were made to feel very welcome. Our room was spacious and so clean. The bed was very comfortable and the views of the bay were amazing. It definitely was an outstanding stay. Highly recommended
Room nice but the sunset room looks over main road. Have to keep the doors closed. No fresh air. Disappointing.
Beer was flat, my stupid fault for not doing anything about it.
Unimpressed. I wasn’t told about renovations. Our room had no water in the morning before checkout. Some staff were not up to scratch. Given the experience - horribly over-priced.
What a wonderful stay at a fantastic hotel. Staff and location were perfect. The food in the restaurant was first class as was the beautiful olde worlde room. Well done!
after paying for food and drinks, we only received drinks and after waiting 1 hour i had to go complain and all i got was a brushed off sorry and that they will start making the food. after 1 hour the donkey gave us our food and the food was cold and mid. waste of time and money
Beautiful hotel & rooms. Staff are the best I've ever had the pleasure to interact with, nothing was ever to much trouble. Incredible!
The rooms and facilities were very good
I went with a group of friends for my 50th birthday to Hotel Sorrento. Everything was exceptional, from the booking process, to hotel location and amenities. The staff were absolutely superb- we had a 5 star experience. Nothing was too much for them! I can’t recommend enough staying at this hotel- it exceeded my expectations in every way!
We had a lovely stay here for 3 days and 2 nights. The room was spacious and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The included breakfast was delicious and there was a variety of choices, the pool area was very clean and relaxing. Its a short walk from the shops, if you wanted to do a bit of shopping and support local businesses. We would definitely come back here next time were are down Sorrento way.
Having stayed at many hotels around the world and playing golf, this hotel surpasses all of them.||Location, great service, friendly staff and everything you would ever want in a hotel.
Excellent location, brilliant Asian infusion restaurant, exceptional pool area, fantastic drinking venues on the premises.
We had a lovely stay in Room 49 which is a spacious room with king bed and lounge sofa. Under cover designated car space which was literally only a few steps away, out the door, down the lift to the basement and voila, there's your car!!!! So very convenient. Excellent mattress and bed, very efficient climate control in room, wonderful staff, clean & spotless presentation.
My party got kicked back for being under 21. Didn’t realise we were living in America. Appalling. Will never come back
We dined with friends & spent over $800 on dinner. Immediately after dinner we payed & used the bathroom before leaving. We were abruptly kicked out of the ladies room. We were yelled at by a female security guard named Jamie who aggressively forced us out of the bathroom and rushed us out of the venue. All whilst yelling unprofessional & derogatory comments at us for taking ‘too long to wash our hands’ since the venue was apparently closing. (we had only been in there for a few minutes). We’re regulars at Hotel Sorrento and have never encountered such disgusting & disrespectful behaviour. We respectfully left to go to another venue, this same security guard was there & ran up to my Husband while he was leaving the venue to simply ask if myself and friend were inside. We were not inside the venue. However, we found this comment very threatening and unnecessary as she was now targeting us at another venue, outside of Hotel Sorrento.
We absolutely LOVE Hotel Sorrento. We visit at least twice a month and have never had a bad meal or experience. Nikita & Chryssa always greet us with a hug and kiss and make us feel so welcome. HS are blessed to have these 2. Soham always knows the perfect drop to recommend. The wine & dine nights are fantastic. Chefs series are great fun. Shihuishi is such a cool place, share menu is always a great way to taste the amazing food, the atmosphere and views are beautiful and the sunday roast cant be beat.
Had a wonderful and tasty lunch paired with some nice wines served by attentive, friendly and helpful waiters
Fantastic food and service. The oysters are fresh. The view is also beautiful.
Loved eating at Shihuishi which is the Asian fusion restaurant downstairs! The service was just sensational, food was incredible and the atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant was so cosy and moody. I will definitely be back here to dine!
I'm really not one to outright complain about an experience, but I booked a trip for my partner and I two months in advance for a surprise birthday getaway, only to be told the morning of our trip, only because I called to make a request for the room. That I don't have a reservation. Despite being billed already & having my invoice. Apparently due to a 'system error' because I originally booked via third party than cancelled and re-booked directly through the hotel. Staff told me multiple times they had room at their sister hotel down the road that would accommodate us to ease our stress, then to find out they don't. So I was forced to book another hotel in the area that we didn't want to stay at for more money than the original booking at Hotel Sorrento because it was last minute. Then once we arrived for our dinner reservation which should've been our first night there, the same staff member we spoke to earlier, in person heavily implied our dinner reservation on the night would be taken care of or heavily discounted for the reservation error, Only to find compensation was 2 free drinks...In the end we were refunded and given one night stay comped at Hotel Sorrento which was originally our last night which was supposed to of been one of three nights booked. After being forced to pay a significant amount of money more than the original booking and the inconvenience and stress of almost having to cancel our trip due to this error if we couldn't find anywhere else last minute. Hotel Sorrento really made it hard for us to get past this calamity of errors and poor communication on their part. As for the hotel itself. Hotel Sorrento is aesthetically pleasing but not anything special in my opinion. You are paying more for the location and where you are more-so then the venue itself given the pricing. Parking on premises is incredibly small and crammed I might add as well. With building materials in some spots just left in the underground carparks waiting for cars to be damaged when they back into or over them. I feel there is plenty of other options in the area worth your time and money. I wouldn't recommend Hotel Sorrento given my experience, as well as hearing other customers previous trips to Hotel Sorrento while we were down the coast and in the area, it didn't sound like we were alone in our experience.
We absolutely loved our stay. The room we had was lovely and we loved the fireplace and balcony. The breakfast included was super yum. The day we checked out we asked to use the pool and they let us stay for as long as we wanted and they offered free Mecca sunscreen by the pool. Overall we loved the finishing touches and the service was amazing. We definitely will be back.
So glad we chose this spot for the last day of our staycation! The food was absolutely delicious, the service was fantastic, and the wine was even better.
Fantastic stay, wonderful time. Thomas, Michelle and team took great care.
Pity they allow smoking in the outdoor drinking and eating area. Asked employee to get old blokes to stop but they just walked to the corner, told staff member to tell the boss. Very disappointing for such a great spot. Have a photo of old blokes if you really want it.
My wife and I booked a Sunset Terrace room for Friday 18/10 until Sunday 20/10. Whilst the room (number 40) was beautiful, the bathroom did not match the premium price which we had paid. We were given an accessibility room, which was only accessible via the back lifts, with no access to reception or the restaurant. The bathroom did not have a shower screen or curtain installed which meant that the water would saturate the entire bathroom when we showered. We were not provided with sufficient bathmats to be able to collect the saturated floor. I got up to use the bathroom during the night and almost slipped over due to the floor not being fully dry. Fortunately I was able to avoid any serious injury. Upon raising the issue with reception/management and asking to be moved into another room, we were told this would not be possible given the hotel was fully booked. We raised the fact that the bathroom didn’t meet our expectations given the premium price we had paid. Whilst we appreciated the fact that we could not move rooms, we would not have booked our stay at the hotel had we known we would be receiving a room without an enclosed shower. Upon returning to the room in the afternoon on Saturday, the room had been cleaned, but there were no fresh towels at all. After some negotiation, in which we felt as though we were being ungrateful, we were provided with food and beverage credits to be used at the restaurant. The credit did not even cover the cost of a meal for two at the restaurant/bar. We understand the legislative need for accessibility rooms, however we felt guilty in taking an accessibility room. Should the hotel have had a customer require that room specifically, would we have been turned away or have a booking cancelled? Upon checkout, when mentioning we were disappointed with our stay, we were asked if the hotel could provide us with a gift. I feel if the hotel wanted to give us a gift, they would have simply done so, rather than asking us if we would like one. I am incredibly disappointed with our experience at Hotel Sorrento, which is a shame as the aesthetic of the Hotel and quality of the restaurant food are amazing. I wouldn’t recommend staying in a Sunset Terrance room nor will I be returning to the Hotel anytime soon.
Hotel Sorrento is the most beautiful old hotel. We stayed in an original Classsic room (Room 2, which is the biggest of the Classic rooms, including a lovely lounge area. It was just gorgeous with the original old exposed stone work. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom very modern and clean. We also stayed a night in Room 47, one of the newer rooms. It too was gorgeous but very modern with lovely stone-look tiles. One hint - the bathroom does not have a door, and is open to the bedroom and walkway. So if you're with a friend, be prepared. Neither of these rooms caters for 2 twin beds, so you'll need to share the huge king size (plenty big enough). Five minute walk into town or to the beach. Highly recommend this hotel.
Have just had the best 24 hours at Hotel Sorrento. What a customer centric experience. From initial booking over the phone directly with HS to the warm welcome on arrival. Raine was outstanding to deal with our entire stay, from parking the car, to ensuring our room was perfect (the views were exceptional from room 8) and then both breakfast and lunch the following day. They only disappointment for us was having to leave Sunday afternoon. The new pool area is world class with again excellent staff attending to all your needs throughout the day. We wondered down to the Spa too and again it was very very well done. Congratulations to the HS team you are killing it. I think our weekends away to Melbourne will now shift to Hotel Sorrento as it really is a destination and one you really don't need to leave with all they offer. Cant wait to come back.
