I got waffles and could tell that they were store brought and microwaved, was horrible

Coming back from interstate, I was disappointed on the 2nd feb 2025, when I visited one of my old haunts, The Nook, to find that the standards have plummeted. We had to change tables to find a clean space. When I let the waitress know that there was food on the floor under the table that we had moved from, she excused the situation by declaring that a function had been held in the room, the night before. Not very professional. To top it off, she dumped our knives and forks like a tool box on our table. Additionally, the “mushroom and more”, needs attention, with either a price adjustment, downward, or a more comprehensive spread. Having eaten at the (connected)olive tree hotel 6 months ago, on my previous visit, at which point my friend was served prawns that were raw on the inside, and had only a couple of millimetres of adequately cooked perimeter, I wonder if the whole place has gone down hill

FIFTEEN DOLLARS for two fried eggs and ONE piece of toast. This was my first and last visit. Absolute GREED.

I’ve visited this cafe a few times now and have been served by Lily each time. It’s great to go to a place where you are greeted by a friendly face and she makes a great coffee ☕️

Had lunch at the Nook Cafe yesterday and it was a great experience for me. Had been there couple of times before and it was really a nice, quiet spot for dining out. Great customer service and amazing food ! Definitely recommend it 👍

I am not a regular customer, but this morning I came in to catch up with a relative, I was delighted to be welcomed by a sweet red head girl named Ashleigh. She was very patient as we were finding money, the service was excellent and the drinks were great. When we were served Ashleigh even came and asked us what we thought about the drinks also talking to us about their new method of making the drink. I am Extremely happy and hope to see Ashleigh on my next visit Thanks

I feel awful to provide a rating like this as I always come here to enjoy my coffee but yesterday was an absolute mess of a day! The staff were disorganised, served us the wrong milk forgot some items that we ordered. Also one persons food came out first then the coffees came last. It was really awful. As a regular customer asking to swap a menu item on the big breakfast shouldn’t be difficult but it was made to be a big deal. Not impressed please improve!

I get coffee from here every other weekday, honestly fantastic, big coffee lover and work in the city a lot so tried lots of cafes, this is top tier, staff very friendly too

I always love coming here - mainly for the ambiance. I could sit in there all day with the warm timbers and fireplace. I usually go for breakfast. But for some reason, every time I leave I end up on the toilet with diarrhoea 🙈 I only ever order the scrambled eggs so it must be the ingredients in it. I still go though as I love it there sitting by the fire - I’m just always prepared to go straight home after 🚽

Stopped in for lunch, the menu is not very extensive, I had the chef's special and it was really nice and good value. Friendly service.

After trying to get waitresses attention we were thoroughly ignored. Other customers who arrived later than us continued to be served whilst we were not. Left without ordering. Thanks for wasting our time.

In general the girls serving in the cafe are cold like icebergs, never smile and try in a way to intimidate you. Not sure if they are playing their racist cards or they are trying to make you feel unwelcome however Sunbury has many other nice cafes you can enjoy a nice coffee or a juicy burger and definitely Nook is NOT the one.

We got so nicely attended by a lovely red headed girl Ashleigh with the most contagious smile and the most proactive attitude! We got a fantastic breakfast, a delicious coffee thanks to her recommendation and I can’t seriously thank her enough on the great morning we had for our table thanks to her. Would definitely love to return again! Fantastic place for breakfast around the area

If you want a cafe served by unsupervised untrained staff that have 0 engagement then this is your place. If you want a coffee so bad that you’d feel bad for the fish that would drink it when you pour it down the sink, then this is your place. Looks nice though, shame the tables are usually covered in crumbs when you sit down.

Came in 2:30 pm knowing they close at 3 pm , I ask are you still open for breakfast, the staff member said yes we close in half hour but she seems to be annoyed that we came in at that time … I place the order after 5 minutes to the same staff member who seems even more annoyed then before and with no manners at all … the breakfast came out 2:53 and at 2:58 they told us they were about to close , so my point is that first of all have some customer service skill Like at least a smile doesn’t hurt when you serving people , second if you can’t or don’t feel like serving people just tell them that breakfast is closed and you do t serve any more food .. don’t give them 5 minutes to eat and especially don’t have the attitude that you had .., if you get people’s money treat them fairly and don’t make them feel uncomfortable. We will never be back , awful experience

Thanks to Melissa and Prince at The Nook for hosting our work event tonight. We received great feedback from all our guests who commented on the relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. The cocktail menu and platters were delicious and I'm especially grateful for being able to arrange everything on short notice. Will be back!

My partner and I had breakfast here yesterday with our 1 year old baby for the first time. Lovely staff who greeted us when entering and were so kind throughout. Food and coffee came out in good time and the wedges were delicious! A staff member also helped us with a baby high chair without us even asking for one. Will visit again.

Normally I go to the reviews to read about the cafe I’m going to if I’ve not been, and I did read a few recent bad reviews about this cafe but decided to try for ourselves. We were greeted in a friendly manner and told we could take a seat anywhere we liked and we would be brought our menu’s which we were within 1 minute. We ordered our coffees straight away and then when they arrived we ordered some wedges. The wait staff were very friendly and none of the ladies made an effort to engage with us about our 1 year old who didn’t want to sit still in the pram and wanted to wonder about. She offered us a high chair and it helped alot. She was so lovely and friendly and we had a really nice experience all round. Would definitely come here again. We also enjoyed the wedges, they were nice and crispy.

We had lunch in the outside dining area a table for five the waitress arranged two sun umbrellas for maximum shade from the sun. The food and service were superb all staff that encountered us were friendly and attentive.

Sat in for lunch today, noted Cafe was notably busy and seeing to be understaffed as it has just been christmas public holidays. Ordered soup of day and some drinks . Soup was chicken and vegetable. When soup arrived, it had a notable sour smell and tasted very sour and bitter. Waited for staff to check in mid meal but they did not. I went up to counter to pay and to let them know of complaint re soup. The staff at kitchen then tasted soup and said it was up to standard and there was no offer of a refund or option to have anything different to eat was told to pay for soup . I did that but was unhappy with level of customer service. I have been going to this Cafe for at least 10 years I feel incredibly disappointed and will not be returning.

Stopped by for a quick lunch break. Food was fast hot and heaps on the plate. Not to many people cause it was getting close to closing tme. Had large umbrellas set up beautifully outdoors. Vety clean friendly staff. Highly recommended

Ridiculously slow service. I had been there a few times previously a year or two ago and experienced very slow service. As a year or so had passed I gave them the benefit of the doubt and gave them another go. I was very sceptical walking in when I noticed only one of the four other tables of people seated had any coffee or food. It took over 30 minutes to get our coffee and it turns out it should have gone to another couple who had ordered before us, they had to wait another 10 minutes. They had three front of house staff, who had no idea which table orders were to go to. It seemed like one of them had exclusive rights to make the coffees and unfortunately he was very slow and often started working the till or some other task. This left the coffee machine idle and tempers of waiting customers flaring. By the time we left, everyone was angry. The coffee was ok and the wait staff were friendly and apologetic, but this has been going on for some time so obviously management are oblivious or ignorant of the customer's experiences. Definitely not returning.

Food was not very warm bacon was hardly even cooked. No flavour.

The Nook? More like the crook. 😬😲 How do you justify charging $6 for a 330ml bottle/can of Coke? 🤔🙄 You could go to Aldi & buy a 30 pack of 375ml cans for just over $20 and sell them at $3 a can and still make a profit. How can a drink of Coke cost more than a Cascade Premium Light beer ($4) or a Great Northern Midstrength beer ($5.60)? It’s not like the waiting staff actually have to make the beverage. All they have to do is go to the fridge, grab the bottle/can and open it.

Friendly and helpful staff.

Poor customer service We been regulars for years, since the change and employment of specific wait staff service has plummeted to an all time low. Forgetting to take orders offering other patrons more coffee, forgetting to add extra coffees to invoice list goes on. Unfortunately our last visit that was our go to place.

I ordered a delicious omelette with potato and cheese - it was a generous serving too, enough to share! Coffee was excellent. Staff were lovely.

Had an egg and bacon roll and it was really high quality and good value for a café. I would eat here again.
