Nightcap at Excelsior Hotel

Came tonight with family for a meal, all ages from kids to seniors well catered for. The cheesey Bacon garlic bread was so good. The Excelsior Parma was a big hit. I had the prawn Tacos and they are so good. Staff are so friendly and helpful. We will definately be back.

Rooms are tidy and exactly what you’d expect in an economy hotel. Beds were comfortable and all facilities worked well. A pub next door with a good bistro and plenty of bars helps and Dan Murphy in the car park. If you need to stay in the area it is well worth it.

Upon arrival when checking in we find out that our room was upstairs when on Bookings.com it said that entire apartment was on ground level.As my husband is disabled with a mobility disability this was very difficult however staff member ‘Michelle’ is just lovely and has worked hard to move our room to a ground level apartment for at least 2 of our 3 night stay. Michelle is just lovely, an asset to the hotel!! So nice to talk to and very friendly. My only other minor complaint was a soiled towel and no face washers in the room. Otherwise room really nice and comfortable and looking like pictures advertised. So my one star rating for the room was for the rooms location unfortunately being upstairs. The five star service for ‘Michelle’ and the three star review for the room due to it having a soiled towel and no face washers.

I would not recommend this hotel. The room had a strong smell of cigarette smoke, and the carpets were dirty and emitted an unpleasant odor. The lack of privacy was also a major issue, as the walls were so thin that I could hear everything from the neighboring rooms. Furthermore, the food served at the hotel was not up to the mark. There is definitely a lot of room for improvement at this hotel.

We stayed here as it was the closer spot to the venue where we had an event. We had dinner there at the bistro food was excellent and service aswell .

Enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The rooms are nice, the bar provided a comfortable setting to unwind and the crew/Vishal's hospitality was great. The hotel's location is convenient, with plenty of nearby attractions to explore as well.

Very quiet

Josie and Michelle at Excelcior were lovely and made me feel like family. They really went out of their way, providing the ultimate customer care and making sure I had everything I needed. I love the Nightcap beds. Like sleeping on clouds. And the huge shower heads really take out all the tension from driving. Lovely clean room with complimentary bottled water. It's handy having the hotel so close for meals and a Dan Murphy's on site. The rooms could be more soundproofed.

Very bad experience, there are lice in the bed and we have got bitten multiple times. The management said they will follow up but there is no answer given. Would be nice if we get some reimbursement because no one wants to spend $800 for this kind of experience.

Feels like a dive motel with a pokie room but couldn't have been more wrong. Clean and tidy rooms, friendly staff and easy road access to airport and outer suburbs. We rocked up at 10pm after flying in from Europe and check-in at the bar was painless at the bar. You get a couple of free drink vouchers too so definitely worth the 15 minute Uber from the Airport.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Fairly basic room with no microwave.

Please keep reading fellow travellers as I have a sorry tale to tell. Day 1. Arrival. The reception 'Booth' is in the gaming room next to the bar. Stood in line for 20 minutes as gamblers pushed past to try other machines. Even though I had prefilled all my details the day before check-in still took another 10 minutes. The printer is located elsewhere in the complex and staff have to leave the 'booth' to go get paperwork to sign. Get to the room and it's nice enough, clean except for ceiling fan..but as per web pics. Upper level room but no elevator. Very tired after 7 hour drive down from NSW so try the online room service food order ..not working so called reception...I have to go into the bistro and order then it comes to my room. Another 10 minute line up... To their credit it was quick and food was good. I will also say most staff are friendly, polite and welcoming. On the room tv there are 6 Fox sports channels and 4 are horse racing. This is a gambling venue. At about 2.15am awoken by a fight in the customer car park by drunk patrons leaving. Lots of car door slamming and shouting. After about 10 minutes a truck rumbles in...did I mention there is a large park right behind the hotel used by trucks? Anyway, this broke up the fight and they left as the truck driver emptied a bag of glass bottles into a skip! Another short shouting match at 3.30am as more drunk patrons leave the gambling venue. Once it goes quiet I'm comforted by the drone of traffic on the nearby Western Ring Rd and the tv from the next room...yes, the walls are that thin...tinkling sound thin! Next morning I asked to cancel the remaining two nights. When I described the fight/shouting I was told I was wrong.. despite the sign in the room to call reception in such situations. I've never seen that before. They did agree to refund as requested. I'm 3 months/10,000kms into an Aussie road trip. I've camped at bush camps and beaches and bedded down in 5 star luxury...this hotel has been the worse night sleep so far. Please keep driving as there is a better bridge to sleep under somewhere....

Room looks good. No problems with staff. However the hotel system compute has card info saved on many guests. I noticed when mine was being entered a list of about 50 showed up. Made sure mine was not saved. Will chock it upto google being a pest but isnt very good to see all the info being saved onto their system perhaps some looking into this on a management level will be a good idea.

Just called up now to see if they had availability tonight, after the lady stated they’re all full, she immediately hung up on me without me having the opportunity to ask if they had any availability for the week. Sure i should have looked online but i wanted to call just incase there was a last minute cancelled availability. Very uninviting :/

From reception to the room took all of 2 minutes. Extremely friendly and efficient. Clean room and perfect for my needs

Not really that efficient. I arrived at 10pm and the check-in was inside the gaming room. The lady who checked me in was friendly enough although somewhat in a dither. I forgot to ask specifically for the wifi password so, alongside the poor 4g reception I had no internet. Would be nice to have the wifi password in each room so staff have less to remember...

Very unfriendly staff and poor customer service. I booked and prepaid for a room weeks before my stay. My flight was delayed and I reached the hotel at midnight. Even though I called before hand and asked the attending staff to keep the key in keylock area for which they said ok, I was denied checkin by the night staff and was compelled to look for rooms in other place at midnight after 10hrs of tiring flight journey. Also they haven't contacted me about this situation and havent even refunded the prepaid amount. Wouldn't recommend booking a room to anyone here if you are not physically present at the venue while booking.

We are here for the Easter long weekend from Adelaide. Friendly staff. The room is clean and tidy with towels changed daily. Food at the bistro is so nice. It was hot and they are very efficient with the minimum of waiting time. We will definitely be staying here again. Thank you.

Newly refurbished, with bright clean rooms. Inexpensive. Handy to the N31 freeway.

My room had the fug of old socks, the TV didn't work. I was asked to leave a 200 dollar deposit. Totally disappointed. The price is excessive even if things were in order. I stay in a lot of budget accommodation this is by far the worst. I would encourage anyone to reconsider staying here for the same money you can get far better value and hopefully staff willing to rectify problems rather than make excuses. I was told the cleaner should have gotten rid of the smell on the daily clean, I would suggest that fug has lived in the room for some time not just one day. I was also given a lame excuse adout the Internet provider being the TV issue. My understanding is that free to air television does not require an Internet connection? Woeful.

We got ripped by Expedia $129 for a couple with out breakfast and I see a lot of people on here got breakfast for free.but that is not Excelsior's fault.||We had dinner here last night and the staff were friendly and great priced yummy food
