Had the pasta Pescatore. The serving was generous and delicious. The service was friendly and welcoming.
We had a fantastic experience at the Royal Standard. Even though there wasn’t room when we arrived, the owner very kindly set up a table for us so we could have a meal there. The service was excellent, and everyone at dinner commented on how great the food was. As well as serving great food and offering excellent service, the prices were very low compared to other pubs in the area. Happy to recommend to anyone.

We passed this pub on way to Pearl Jam concert in November 2024 and we were glad!! It was busy already at 5pm but they squeezed us in. Absolutely fantastic food and service. We were very impressed. Probably my favourite dish the whole weekend whilst visiting from North Queensland. Felt like a real Italian little restaurant in Italy. There was even an elderly Italian lady celebrating her 100th birthday.

Simply the best hotel in Melbourne. The food is outstanding and the Guinness is always cold. The Licensees' are the nicest people and the service is always first class.....

I thought it was a typical Pub, but it is more a gourmet Pub, the steak I ordered resembled a piece of left over met, cooked nicely but the length of a highlighter with about 10 chips for $41! WOW.. Pizza was nice and the ceaser salad as well. Don't order stake if you are hungry..disappointing. Wanted an outside table, but they won't serve you outside LOL!

A hidden gem, so close to transport...
Went before a wedding as had time to kill. Ordered some good as was while until we ate. They had gluten free pizza and was really nice. Very much recommend.
The Royal Standard is a lovely old building on the outside, and it's a great place for a few beers out in the sun. But I feel the interior lacks warmth. Some of the staff were also pretty grumpy when i visited, but I'm not sure if thats a regular thing.
Really enjoyed our dinner at the Royal standard as we were staying quite close by at the Raddison.

It is so great to go to a pub that is clearly owner opperated with old service and very reasonable prices. The food was very nice and it is a great place to enjoy a sunday beer. There is a lot of new style pubs with well known chefs and expencive craft beers wich is nice as well, but sometimes it is nice to enjoy a familly run venue with a bit of nostalgia and leave full with a few dollars left in your wallet. Had a great day here, it is a great place !!!!
We both ordered the pescatoria. I had risotto and my partner had spaghetti. Both absolutely loved our meal. Best ever and very reasonable prices!

Best Italian food I can remember. The Veal Scallopini is the best I have tasted in 67 years. The Gnocci was excellent.
After hearing such wonderful comments about this place we decided to attend. The tuna in my salad was unfortunately so dry and overcooked that it lacked flavour and taste - NO I did not order it well done as you do for a steak. My friends Caesar Salad was smothered in Mayonnaise that it was very salty and too rich. Maybe salads are not the best choice in this hotel - maybe they specialise in other dishes.

Great pub - resturant. Really busy with good atmosphere. Meals were very tasty! Big portions. Jugs of beer on the drinks menu were great. Lasagne was really nice.

Wow wow wow this place is amazing, like going back in time. The gnocchi was so good! Little pillowy clouds. And the pizza is like the kind you had as a kid, full of good quality toppings.

We came here for a small family celebration lunch - with 4 children under 10 years. The service was welcoming and attentive. The food was delicious and the prices really reasonable. The venue is a lovely size too with a nice atmosphere. We recommend the gnocchi (homemade and so light) and the stuffed calamari (delicious). We absolutely recommend this place! 🙂👍🏽
Family owned Pub version of pelegrini but better..., great food with plenty space , footy on the tv, and has beers , my new favorite in melbs with normal prices.
Really busy the night we enjoyed dinner! Great cook on the fish, but the cannoli and lasagne were spectacular!! I can't decide which was better :0). Lovely staff, great atmosphere and my dessert was interesting, I wanted the much talked about chocolate mousse. The tiramisu was delightful. Oh no I didn't take photos, book ahead and enjoy

Im giving a 5 so this review can be seen. I orded a non gourmet pizza and paid 21 dollars but its definitely not worth that. Its dry, the chicken has a bit of a weird after taste and after the experience I had with the rude owner and this horrible waitress for there mistake was wonderful. Please keep you money and don't buy 21 dollar dry pizzas. Lets not forget the burnt garlic bread.

Best local you can find - and it's right beside the city.
My rib eye steak was unfortunately overcooked (well done). For $39 and being their signature dish, I did expect it to be cooked medium rare as ordered.

Pretty good pub, frozen margarita is good. Chicken was decent but chips could've been more crunchy. Salad was perfect. Great location and a pretty aesthetic.
What’s better than a nice and delicious food? Service as we progress in this day in age it’s quite rare to see a service that is really heart felt thank you so much for all the staff that looked after me when I ate there they have such friendly staff I would recommend to go with friends and family in this place for small gathering and a very chill and safe place to be. again thank you so much for the hospitality… Another thing their garlic bread is something that you need to get before eating anything 😉 you are all guys welcome if your reading this and wanted to see a good Italian 🇮🇹 place to eat this is the place to be.
