The stuff a friendly but the food is seriously overpriced.

Cool pub on the outskirts of the CBD

Giving this place a 4 for the service and atmosphere. Food was a little too ordinary for the price tag. Our server was lovely and the best Guinness I've had for years!

Just North of the city, this lovely local pub has great service and great atmosphere. Traditional pub vibes. A great place to chill and have a few drinks with friends.

A beautiful host and a lovely pie for tea with a few pints

A pub offering classic pub fare - I ordered the parma and it was delicious, with the coffee also being quite decent. The venue had a great vibe, though it wasn’t the most modern.

Really clean place, warm welcoming, just above a living place (the pub) that still quiet past 10pm. Our room didn't have private bathroom, but the shared toilets and shower are really clean and comfortable. 100% recommend, especially if you're in Melbourne for visiting and want a well located hotel !

Work Xmas party. Excellent pub food. Good real atmosphere. Good selection of alcohol

Garagardo eta janari oso onak. Très bonne bière et excellent repas.

Great trad. Food was unreal.

Great environment, great staff, only downside is they have to close at some point :)

The best bar of Melbourne.

Best bar ever, great service, good atmosphere, nice music.

We stopped in to get out of the crazy Melbourne weather for a second and found ourselves in a gorgeous little watering hole. Before even ordering anything, I asked the bartender to refill my water bottle and she did so with a smile without asking us to buy anything, which I know some venues would be cranky at. The bar has a 'classic Irish pub' vibe but doesn't try too hard, it all feels authentic and not decorated or themed. It was a cozy little place to dry off and felt very comfortable. The bartender was lovely and the prices weren't crazy like I've experienced at most Melbourne bars. It was a delightful little rest stop. The only complaint I have (that isn't really even a big complaint) is that the chairs felt a bit old and rickety. They were still comfortable but just rocked a bit. If we had more time we would have stayed longer. Was a lovely little spot. I included a picture of the bathroom and the wall only because I loved the old school features (very touristy move of me). Wasn't dirty or smelly despite being obviously older, no sticky or pee-doused pub floors I've come to expect from older venues like this. Recommend stopping in for a pint if you're in the area.

Simple! and good place for drinks

Wow! A really vibrant space to eat old style home cooked Irish Beef and Guinness Pie and Mash!!! Yum! The Irish music session adds that lovely ‘Round the campfire’ feel. Prices are reasonable and all in all I will go back!

Good happy hour, good service and pool tables

It is our favorite place to chill, eat, drink and have amazing food. The music, service and hospitality. Is at the top. This place is a must. Have a blast Cheers.

I love it! The kangaroo steak was amazing!

A charming retro pub on Elizabeth Street near Queen Victoria Market.

Was pretty quite in the afternoon, then a band arrived and with it some fun Irish atmosphere. Reasonable drink pricing and clean establishment.

A+ Guinness. Top chippy too

What a gem of a place! Great atmosphere, great food and great live Irish music on Wednesdays! Thanks for a fun night out.

Great place for a quiet pint at a lovely evening there

I can't believe it's taken us so long to visit this wonderful place. We visited during their live Irish music performances, which happens a few days a week and is an absolute must. The room vibrated with fiddles and tin flutes and even a bagpipe! The food was just OK, nothing special. But I'm rating them on service, which was very good, and atmosphere, which was absolutely marvellous.

Nice pub with good beer and wine selections, food options pretty good too. Service is quick.

If your in the mood for live Irish music and a truly authentic tavern feel to escape the winter cold, head in to this pub it won't disappointed!

First of all the place was full and the environment was electric, nice live music was going on inside.Amazing customer service and the chicken Parma was sensational. Highly recommended, thankyou so much 🙏

Mulled wine, superb. Perfect on a cold winter's eve in Melbourne. Irish folk band playing made this place a fantastic spot to rest between an afternoon roaming around the city and Queen Vic night market. Will return and try the food...

Caught up with a bunch of ex colleagues for a drink and some food. Great pub.

Average food and service

Best Guinness in Melbourne! Get in for the trad session on Wednesday, live music Thursday and the Roast on Sunday. Great service and pints 🍻

Wednesday night, great atmosphere, a must

Lovely music, a lovely pint also, great atmosphere, great food but unfortunately no desserts or coffee.

A lovely Irish style pub. The beef & Guinness pie is awesome!

진짜 최고의 기네스. 갈 때마다 최소 두 잔 이상 마셔야하는 맛. 이 집 기네스때문이라도 멜버른 다시 가고싶을 지경

Fantastic little Irish pub, great food, friendly service and a cozy environment to enjoy a pint of Guinness.

Love the atmosphere especially during the live music sessions

Great food and good drinks selection, atmosphere was ok but we did get a large area too ourselves which was great especially with kids

Bouncer was super rude and the place had a brawl outside - not to mention that the drinks are poorly poured and overpriced. Also, some people in front of us were rejected for wearing sandals?? Hello it ain’t Berghain

Great old style pub with loads of atmosphere

Great taste, quantity and price of mulled wine.

Great pub with Irish music sessions and on edge of Melbourne CDB. Tastefully decorated rooms with big, comfortable beds. Apart from great food (vegetarian options available) and music, the welcome from the staff is awesome and the owner is on hand to reply to any requests. This has to be one of the best places to stay when visiting central Melbourne, barely 5 minutes on foot from Victoria Market and free trams. Thanks to owner Chris and manager Bryony for making us feel at home!

The accommodation is pretty good, cozy rooms but perfect for overnight. The facilities are clean and tidy.

We love the food. And company- even better with the pool table now

Nice pub, but my company was pretty dreadful tbh, such a BORE. I will say the chips were not great

I’d recommend visiting on a Thursday between 7 and 10 to see the one and only “Maccrimmin”!

Great pub food :) especially the steak which is sometimes on for $25 as a special! Highly recommend

Well, surprise, it's a Carlton pub, but, it's got a covert Irish flavour. None of the faux fibre glass 'timber', but the Irish lilt behind the bar. Then, the entertainment, always discreet, but the lilt is there. It's now my 'local'.

Absolutely high tier Guinness pie 🥧 with mash potato 🥔 and bacon 🥓 Brussel sprouts. Absolutely God tier delicious 😋

Nice beers and good service. Parma was sub par. Other food looked better.

It takes you way back to an Irish pub in Ireland… great staff, food and service…

Mediocre Irish themed bar with a very poor selection of beers. While there I met the owner who was not particularly welcoming or friendly. The upside was that the food was decent. And going on a Tuesday meant that the steak and chips was $25 instead of $40 which was reasonable given the toughness of the steak. Overall a rather disappointing experience. One worth avoiding.

I really want to like this pub, but it's loud and really uncomfortable. Staff are very nice and accommodating, but the layout is a few small echoy rooms with hard chairs. Come for a drink, but give the food a miss (burnt Parma and forgettable frozen Pattie burger).

Great food. Good prices, lovely staff

Nice spot for a quiet pint and a reasonable priced awesome tasting homely style food.. Beef and Guinness Pie runs in a very close 2nd best I've ever had only losing to Hooligans in Harvey Bay which is now closed so is now the best I can get. Wednesdays is traditional Irish music from 4pm.. but I wouldn't say its a session, more of chilled vibe. The Last jar loses a star due to lack of memorabilia or atmospheric decor, the walls looked bare. And the toilets need a major upgrade. Staff were friendly and warm with great service and chat. I will be back for more Pie. Ohh and the chocolate and Guinness Brownie was the bees knees. Weldone to the chef and staff.

Great Pub - Local Favorite! We’ve been coming here for years, the service is great, the pints are always cold and the food tasty! I normally can’t go past the Beef and Guinness pie, not to say the other options aren’t as good but this is a house classic! They have live music, sometimes a solo set and sometimes trad Irish session. The trad sessions are always fun, try and sit still and not tap along…

Great Guinness and session

Me and my wife love this place!

Love this place. Surely has one of the best guiness in Melbourne. I always love live music that I have experienced across multiple visits.

Great pub, really fantastic service - the bar tenders were great. Dinner was really nice, the pie was tender and the mash went perfectly with it. The drinks were tasty and decently priced too. The ambience of the place was good, and the venue was very solid. 5/5

Smells like piss but the food was great

Went to The Last Jar on Saturday at midday. Wow! Aaron greeted us, that’s where the spoiling started… He took our orders at our table, I ordered the Chicken Stack, my Husband had the Fish N Chips. Both were amazing. Aaron was helpful with our wine selection too. *Chef, the fish n chips were the best my Husband has had since moving to Melbs 4yrs ago🙏🏻. Can’t wait to return. For noting, the overhead music was the best era (pre 2020 shall we say) played at a level you can easily have a conversation over. 4min walk from Vic Markets, reasonable prices. Treat yourselves🤠 PS. Chris was ok too🌟.

Good food good vibes.

What a gorgeous little pub!! Such a warm and wholesome environment. They had live traditional music. The players were amazing and the Sunday Roast was a lot better than I was expecting. I will be 100% returning 🥰

Perfect pub meal. Very lovely staff.
