Service staff outstanding

Always an easy experience - good menu and quality of food and great service.

The waiters were courteous, super friendly and efficient. The food was delicious. My tuna steak was slightly overcooked but still tasted amazing. The bed of lentils, peas and salsa verde was delectable. The atmosphere, acoustics and ceiling fan made for a comfortable night of eating , drinking and conversation. Its always easy to get a park and the food is dependable.

Fabulous! We were a table of 13 adults and 3 children and the service was outstanding. Everyone commented on the quality of the food and it was all brought out at the same time which was no easy feat as it was quite busy at the time. Very reasonably priced too. A great venue I would highly recommended.

Hello, Our experience was not fantastic We committed the sin of asking the tall grey headed waiter with the little 'flavour savour' goatee if we could have some side plates to share one or two of our 6 or 7 orders. His response was beyond rude. 'side plates?' he said very arrogantly and with disapproving demeanour. Generally your staff were pleasant enough albeit a few of them might need to be reminded to be less up themselves and a bit more pleasant. Anyway, we won't be back for a while if at all.

Had a last-minute work Christmas lunch here and loved it. The service was fantastic and the food came out quickly but to a high standard. Great atmosphere of an old pub feel.

We had a late Saturday family reunion lunch for 7, including a happy but bored toddler. Not pains in the a*** but definitely a demanding group. The staff, service and food were all next level. Love coming back to the Kent. So good!!

Shared a festive meal with three good friends and we all enjoyed our meals and the service by the young staff. All agreed the meals were delicious but the young staff who took our orders and served our meals made our day. They were professional but happy to have a laugh with us. Great personalities. I’d say most people there for lunch were celebrating Christmas with friends but the Christmas atmosphere could be improved. Perhaps political correctness was the issue.

It was nice of the kitchen staff to include several lady bugs and other miscellaneous insects in my parma salad, I really enjoy littel creachas in my food : D edit: You have to remember when you copy and paste the chatGPT answer you fill in the blanks, all good.

Kent is a fantastic local pub with pleasant outlook onto park. Exceptionally helpful and pleasant staff. Food wonderful. I had the best seafood liguine I've ever tasted! Have been there with small and larger groups and always been impressed. Thank you!

The Kent Hotel is a regular lunchtime catchup venue for our group of friends. We keep going back because the food is fantastic, the lunch specials are unbeatable and the staff are friendly and very welcoming. It’s just a great pub!

It is always a pleasure to have a meal at the Kent. It is a lunch spot for us and apart from the delicious food the friendly staff always make people feel welcome.

Lunch on a Monday so it was a bit quiet, but the service and food was all very good - would be very happy to go again.

Always love a meal with friends at The Kent. Quality food and service. Pizza as good as any you'd find on Lygon St. Splendid corner location on a favourite Melbourne street. Just a little rowdy and hard to hear conversation when all doors are closed and hotel is full.

We enjoyed our meal, perhaps cut back on the mint, far too much, and maybe it could have had another warm vegetable other than just zucchini, however I enjoyed it. gnocchi in butter safe was nice and tasty..

Everyone commented on how great the food was at our recent function upstairs. We had a selection of finger food with service timed to music and speeches. Staff were great and everything flowed.

Found hair in food. Completely ruined our meal and experience. Manager was great. Other staff were unhappy with my complaint, talking amongst themselves non discreetly, made us feel very uncomfortable staying.

Hands down worst roast beef we have ever had at a pub. This is disappointing, as we usually have rather positive dining experiences at the Kent. However, we will not come back after this. You could not even call the “roast beef” a “roast”. It took a while to come out, and it was pan fried, not roasted! Incredibly tough, most parts basically inedible. Could’ve made a better meal at home. Overdone. Dry. Tough. Obviously PAN FRIED beef that has been labelled as a “Roast”. All three of us could not finish our meals. Take this off the menu please or just actually ROAST YOUR BEEF.

Staff were fabulous, eggplant parmigiana was excellent but my burger was over cooked. You don’t need to cremate a wagu burger

I recently hosted a function for 17 people upstairs at the Kent. The room is excellent with its own facilities. This is the fourth time we've held this annual event at the Kent and the quality of food and service has always contributed to making it a great event.

$20 Parma night, very nicely cooked chicken and the service was great.

Very good service, menu to small, bring back the fish fillet burger! Good parking in area. Access sl difficult for some, don’t know if you could get a wheel chair in.

Had a dinner with my wife for her birthday. We arrived early, so we had some drinks in the happy hours period. Very competitive price! Staff there were super friendly and helpful. One thing worth to mention is that I dropped the knife when I was eating. The staff noticed that immediately and gave me another one. Rocket speed, proactive and helpful! Appreciate it. The environment was superb, cosy and warm. Since it was a steak night, so we ordered 2 sirloin steaks, with chips and salad. Very price competitive. However we ordered medium, but turning out a full cooked one. Over-cooked ～

Went for lunch, table service seating inside and out. Recommend the fresh Pate with warm bread, Fish and Chips and Pizza

Went for lunch today. Nice Hotel, ambience good. Coffee good. Had the main course of calamari. VERY few pieces on the plate for $30!! Side salad pretty ordinary. Goodness knows what the entree size would have been like!

Good food, upstairs venue excellent for a private function

Disappointed. Small meals for the price. No winter dessert options. Only donut or canoli. Not the birthday dinner we were hoping for. Lamb Shank was nice but more bone than meat. Pea puree was flavourless but pretty colour. Service was friendly.

Haven't been to the Kent in many years, the food is still good and the service is excellent.

The Kent hotel is a nice environment but the steak I ordered was 1/3rd grisle. The management were totally unconcerned about this. Waitress very good. Won’t eat there again.

Good venue for dinner and specials every night. Food was great and big servings! Warm atmosphere and great staff.

Booking was easy and assured. The table was ideal for a small group conversation. The menu was limited, but the meals were good and the costs reasonable The service was lovely, and attentive. I would happily eat here again.

My friend and I celebrated her birthday with Friday lunch at the Kent. It was a really great meal and service and we decided we will meet there more regularly.

A group of 17 of us had lunch to celebrate an occasion. The staff were amazing and seamlessly took individual orders and payment at the table. Couldn’t have asked for better service over the 3 hours. Food was a bit variable … some great some good. Thank you!!

Very disappointed … The Kent Hotel used to be a great place with great service and food well I can tell you will not be returning. We had a group of 10 to celebrate a 18th birthday. The service was very slow and the waiter had little known of the menu. Food was ok but very over priced for the quality. We brought a cake to celebrate a birthday. When we asked for the cake they put it in the middle of the table. We had to cut and serve the cake on our own then charged us $50 cakeage for dumping the cake on the table with a couple of plates and spoons. When we complained they basically said we were charged because we were not going to order dessert. Well we did spend money on food and drinks…. If you are going to charge how about cutting and serving the cake. I have never been charged this at pubs or restaurants before.. Will never go back again Terrible service and so overpriced for average food.

Great service, nice ambiance, mediocre food. We ordered Chicken Parma, Steak Sandwich, Taiwanese Pork Noodles and Seafood Linguine. The Taiwanese Pork Noodles was very bland while the Seafood Linguine was unusually spicy. I wouldn't have ordered it had I known how spicy it is. The service was amazing, very friendly and attentive, but they need to work on the food quality a bit.

Been here a number of occasions not too bad at all. This time as a couple, Sunday for the Sunday roast, I had Octopus salad. As advertised The Sunday roast will all the trimmings??? Roast beef with mashed potatoes, broccolini and gravy, Came cold and interesting combo. The octopus no better than eating tennis balls. Never again. Very sad.

The soup of the day looked watery and had lots of mushrooms. My friend didn't eat it.

Very small Eggplant Parma was only sliced egg plant with cheese melted on top? Was it the chefs night off tonight?? I'll not be back! Disappointing!

Had a really good meal at the Kent Hotel. The pork schnitzel was really nice and the grilled fish and chips was also nice. We received excellent service from the wait staff. The Kent Hotel has a good selection of beers.. if you’re in Carlton give the Kent Hotel a try.
