Great experience

12 months ago, this was one of my favourite inner city Melbourne pubs for an after work drink on a Friday evening, and to sit in the outdoor drinking area facing the intersection of St George's Rd, and Scotchmer St in Nth Fitzroy. It had a great public/sports bar. The pokie room was next door. Sadly, the bar, the food, the great beer selection have now gone. Only the Pokies remain. The beer garden is still there,but sadly, the atmosphere has gone from the place.

Was a great pub years ago before they got the pokies in, lost it's atmosphere and most of the people I associated with there all left and went elsewhere.

Parkview Hotel Congratulations Parkview Hotel five stars awarded for finally getting rid of the Venue Manager that has single handedly ruined this once great hotel.2023 saw a horrid creature entrusted to maintain the operations within this hotel. Instead she went about hiring inexperienced staff from her own village with no customer service, terrible work ethics and poor communication skills, diminishing all once high standards of this venue. In 12 months this dishonest, unprofessional, arrogant, simpleton has succeeded greatly, in ruining a much loved North Fitzroy hotel. Well done a great effort! I wish the Parkview Hotel the best in recovering the once outstanding reputation prior to this unfortunate set back.

The beer Garden closed at 11pm and we all got moved into the gaming area. So we might as well play!! In my opinion, this is the number one poker machine venue in the state (Sydney does do poker machines better). I have never seen a place pay out as much as this place. Great $9 pints. Love the low dark colour ceilings with the fancy light fittings. There is a great balance of old and new machines and a good variety of different poker machine manufacturers. There even is one with a coin hopper !! Dragon link, Lightning link machines, Heart Throbber and Big red, they’re all Aussie classics. The two workers in the venue provided good service. We had one person with us who ended up a little intoxicated and they stopped serving him alcohol. Very wise move. Great location , good parking , nothing bad I can say about this place . Oh maybe try and get some ‘More Chilli’s gaming machines

$9 pints! Draught included! SOLD! Thank you Place is half under renovation so manoeuvring the venue can be an issue… but it’s only temporary. So you have to allow for it. Great beer garden on the corner… Trying to be PC as the locals won’t appreciate my humour 🤣🤣🤣

Venue manager extremely rude. Zero people skills. Very disappointing.

Not a bad hotel, as expected for the price.

I've never lost as many times as at this venue and when I finally did I was told that my identification isn't good enough as my license has just lapsed, even combined with other identification.

Rude and incompetent staff in the bottle-o and gaming, won’t be back.

None of the toilets have locks on the doors and there are no women's toilets, only unisex or men's. The beer selection is not very good and at $9 a pint it's not that cheap. The main bar closes early at random even with over 10 patrons in the bar, so you can't trust opening hours unless you're playing pokies. You'd think some of the money from the nearly constantly open pokies could provide a decent beer, reliable opening hours or locks on the toilet doors at the very least. To edit the review in fairness: there are now female toilets. What an exceptional effort! The male toilets still don't have locks, and they have added stone and wood pale ale for one decent beer. Unfortunately you will never be able to watch a game of afl without the most toxic couple on the planet making their guttural screams and screaming f you after the team they don't support scores. If you attend, you'll understand how awful it is. Ruins the atmosphere of a rare pub that allows you to smoke and drink while watching the footy.

Stopped in for a cheeky beer on my way home. $9 Pints and $5 pots on all tap beer. The barman was a friendly bloke, looking forward to getting back to try the pub grub.

Terrible atmosphere. Staff had no personal communication skills. This place used to be great with a kitchen, but now is completely soulless. A shame as its an iconic corner. 😪

Poor management venue lost two off it best staff members Perry and Brian current staff have no personality or experience management is losing patrons as she doesn’t know how to run the venue management discusses employer employment with other staff members than when questions about the rumours she denies the rumours Perry and Brian brought in the clients with there bbq on Friday and sat nights and there bubbly personalities venue needs updating and experience staff manager only hire family members and always calls In sick with a headache and expect staff to cover her shifts I believe she is unreliable both myself ,family and friends refuse to return to this venue while she is running this business into the ground

Unprofessional lead management come to work with love bites on her neck can't order pot glasses that have been dropped 3 weeks ago no people skills, can't run the tab, sit in her office ,over works staff ,does not give staff irrelevant breaks,English is poor,leaves early ,come in late for shifts,only hire her family members, iv drank in this pub for over 40 years and never seen such poor lead management she needs to be gone my personal opinion is she can't run a chook raffle you have lost one of your best asset's to your company Perry and alot of the patron won't be returning as Perry made that pub he work skills and people skills are outstanding he brought patrons to this venue

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere although food is limited to pizza and bar snacks. Good selection of beer. Great place for a quick pit stop, a beer and a pizza.

Bar in Pokies leaves a fair bit to be desired

This has been a hidden gem for many years. Looks like it has had a recent spruce up, so is looking very clean and comfortable. You can't complain about $8 pints, but the Parkview combines that with a truly excellent range of beers, from lagers to XPAs to sours. Great atmosphere and staff. It is a pokie pub, but I managed to ignore that part of the building.

Clean, friendly, beers were cold and at an excellent price! Two thumbs up! 👍👍

Having been a regular since I first moved to North Fitzroy in 2002, I was shocked to be denied access to the toilet. To add insult to injury I was told that this was because I'm homeless. I'll never set foot in that place again.
