I paid $14 for a pint of asahi here over 10 years ago. Possibly 12-15 years, no joke. Point being, never went back and it really put me off pubs. Place is a dump. Ooo the swan in Richmond, how fancy! If you sit at pokies drinking overpriced urine, wake up before your life’s over fellas. I suggest gaming with friends and a slab. As for dating the girls are online, you think they wanna meet guys dumb enough to drink at the swan?
Love the weird german/french cute couple behind the bar
Best Mai Tai in Melbourne 👌
Didn’t let me in cause they thought I’d had too much drink when I hadn’t had a drink yet. Don’t even bother coming here
A great, latenight spot to dance the night away. Be sure to wear footware that are secure, the carpets are some of the stickiest in Melbourne 😂 it's a great vibe and loads of fun with friends.
They put ice in my hard solo ☹️
At around 10pm tonight I was refused entry by staff for no justified reason. Very disappointing as it was my birthday and all my friends were let in ahead of me. I was planning on having a good night and being a dignified customer but unfortunately that was a loss to the premises. Edited next day: On second thought it turned out to be a good thing I wasn't let in as my hangover isn't so bad today and iv had a productive Sunday by not staying out late the night before. Updated to 5stars. Thanks again
Last night, I had a deeply disappointing and humiliating experience at this venue. As someone who has been on and off mobility aids since the age of 13, I was genuinely looking forward to an evening out with friends. After recently coming off crutches, I was excited to enjoy the night, particularly dancing with my friends. However, due to my inability to stand for extended periods, I needed some form of support to safely participate on the dance floor. When I initially approached a security guard with a suggestion to use a stool or another solution that might make the dance floor accessible for me, I was met with a refusal. While the security guard’s response seemed influenced by the manager’s presence, I persisted in trying to find a solution. Left with no other option, I sat briefly on a table on the dance floor. I acknowledge this may not have been ideal, but it was my only alternative at the time. After about 10 minutes, I was approached by another security guard and the manager, who told me I needed to get off the table. When I tried to explain my disability and the need for support, I felt unheard and dismissed. Their suggested solution was for me to sit in the designated seating area, which was far from the dance floor where my friends were. I explained that being segregated to another part of the venue due to my disability felt discriminatory and unfair. Despite my openness to any reasonable alternative, my concerns were dismissed, leaving me feeling excluded, unheard, and hurt. Ultimately, I left the venue, feeling humiliated. After my friend consoled me and offered to sit in the seating area with me, I decided to try re-entering the venue. However, your manager refused me entry and instead left me waiting sitting on the street for 30 minutes until my friends came out. This experience has left a lasting impact on me, as it felt both isolating and discriminatory. Public spaces should be accessible to everyone, and venues like yours have a responsibility to accommodate the needs of patrons with disabilities. This includes not only providing physical accessibility but also ensuring that staff approach such situations with empathy and a willingness to find solutions. Due to this experience, I will not be returning to your venue and cannot recommend it to others. I urge you to take this feedback seriously and reflect on how similar situations could be handled differently in the future. Accessibility and respectful treatment should be fundamental principles, not optional considerations.
my friend has a disability and asked for an accommodation to help her but the manager refused and then kicked her out. Horrible attitude and would never recommend this place. No inclusive, not accessible
I prefer the old security, they were always friendly and maintained a great ambience. New security aren’t the same and it deters me from coming back again.
Nice to sit out the back for a few beers with the boys
It’s been a while since I went to the swan. Decided to meet there before Socceroos match. The venue was clearly not prepared for the increased patrons or was down staff as service was the slowest I’ve ever experienced - a simple steak took 35 mins to arrive as they ‘cooked multiple steaks at the same time’. This should not happen… I was advised it may take 20 mins but not nearly double - the steak was nothing special. Their ‘garden salad’ had cheese on it which was not on the menu and being lactose intolerant I sent it back - my friend had the same salad but no cheese which was weird. New management needs to get the act together cos this was terrible. It’s a good thing the company was great or I’d have written a much worse review and left after getting my money back.
ainsley from blackpool is the best 😀😀😀
Great vibe at the Swan. Drink prices are good. Decent music. There are plenty of tables and seating.
Beer tasted very sour.
Wasn’t serving food at 1:30 because the kitchen was ‘under the pump’ with 30 people in the venue.
$46.50 for 2 pints 🤮🤮
Never experienced this overpriced place $20 for a pint of beer WOW what a ripoff Very hostile atmosphere towards non-white internationals, and a white female bartender was very rude.
I’m in two minds what to rate this pub. Grand final day, everything was going well until we had to order another round of drinks. Guy at the bar was extremely rude for absolute no reason and demanded to remove me from the premises. Reason is that I wanted to have drinks order for 12 people all on one invoice and he kept giving me few individual drinks at the time with no invoice…. Red Flag!!! I can only claim the total not dribs and drabs…. I have to praise security as extremely professional and they told me to go to another bar and order drinks but why would I have to do that…. Please note, we spent over 5k on drinks only plus food on another account! 8k plus+++ I must say, we will never EVER come back and message to management: Praise your sensible security and choose carefully bar staff!!! Otherwise, awesome pub good energy shat bar dude!!! Overall, EXTREMELY disappointed!!!
Antony is so warm and welcoming great service very happy
I had a really great night. Ant, the manager, was an absolute gentleman and just a really nice guy too, felt really taken care of. All the staff were lovely! Good atmosphere, vibes and one of the more safer places around.
Went to the Swan for some drinks on a Saturday night with friends and my girlfriend left her handbag. Staff were extremely accommodating in helping me find it especially Mark who hand delivered the handbag back to my girlfriend’s house. Massive shoutout to the Swan and team for their help!
Terrible service. Had to wait ages for our drinks. Trio of Dips came with excessive dips and not much bread. Cockroach in the women's bathroom.
We love MARK!!!! The best service ever 💖💖💖💖💖
Had the workers lunch on Wednesday. What a ripper. Pot of beer and a parmi, $20. After a pint, mind you.
I tried their Thursday steak night special, which was supposed to come with chips and salad, but instead had a different potato dish that was plain yet pleasant. The steaks were cooked well, but sauces cost extra. The overall value was good since the special included a drink.
Very friendly staff, the wednesday trivia is great fun, and the new food menu is so good. Also whoever chooses the music has incredible taste We love you Mikey 😇
Drinks? Blessed. Price? Fairly blessed. Pub quiz? Absolutely blessed. Mikey? You know he’s blessed.
We come here for trivia each Wednesday, awesome pub, recently changed chefs & the food is even better than before!! Happy hour runs til 7 which is very handy. Staff are great & Mikey is extremely swag 👍👍 Love the fire inside in winter & dogs in the beer garden 10/10
Thankyou for such an amazing night. On the night Micheal made our daughters 21st a relaxing & great night. We had the private area upstairs which has a great atmosphere with the 3 areas, main with fire, dance floor & sitting area. Thanks again and Micheal for taking the stress away.
This pub used to be good but the food is now overpriced and poor quality. The beer lines need to be cleaned more often.
Reasonable pub. Closes at 22.30 on a Thursday, though, not 23.00. Nice fire.
Nice little pub with comfort food style pub grub. Convenient especially if your in Richmond for the footy or the A League.
The loaded fries are an incredible choice. Fresh, tasty, and generous
Mack is the bees knees. Goes the extra mile for loyal customers. Would recommend to a friend
Unashamedly itself, long live the dirty swan!
Honestly I’m struggling with this review… I was told by staff they would play a certain game. That was misinformation But I watched it on the phone so no big deal… Having said that Staff were great. Beer was great. Touch more than I’m Used to. Food was quick and tasty Funky place with tunes and heaters on. Only negative was toilets… wife said girls toilet had cockroaches! Guys toilets had trays if you need them 👃 Not my cup of tea… but would have been convenient 20 years ago Will def be back!!!
Great venue 👌
Really impressed with quality of food and service was excellent. Prices and value for money was excellent. The Beef Pie was delicious. Will be back🤗
Classic pub offerings with a tasty workers lunch deal weekday lunchtime that sets you back only $20 for main and drink. For that price the team enjoyed fish and chips, chicken parmigiana and I enjoyed my Mexican parma. Courtyard a better option than inside.
Potentially worst parma I have had. Tasty cheese, soft crumb chicken breast. Barely any sauce and out of a can. Yuck. $29 an absolute rip. Not sure what was with their beer but it was barely chilled coming out of the tap. If you want cool beer, soft parmas and a place that smells like piss inside and out then this is the place for you.
Mackena is the best bar tender is Victoria. 3rd in Australia. Definitely top 5 worldwide. That Charlie guy is pretty good too.
Nice place, but you need deep pockets. $15 for a pint.
The bar tender with the man bun was extremely aggressive would not Recommended going unless you want to get hate crimed
Bartender was awful to my mate and said “I would punch her if she was a man”. Also told her to leave after she calmly ordered a drink. She later cried and I Will personally never enter this venue again. So awful and unprofessional.
Your great corner pub. Great place to grab a drink or meal with friends, and still able to hold a conversation as they don't have music blaring like so many places. Great indoor/outdoor areas and great place to watch live sports with multiple TV's scattered around the venue
Exactly what a pub should be. Great customer service from Anthony
Preços acessíveis e lugar confortável para festas.
I had a really good time last Brazilian party there! The event was very fun and well organized! Definitely I will be back again
Just saw the manager wipe out half their business because someone played red hot chilli peppers. RIP Craig
Great pub to cut shapes after (insert sporting event at the G) Some sweat, some stank, some hot, some rank
Just a pub. Maybe more for the millenials
Venue Smells like dirty feet Y’all need to replace your floors , I feel bad for the employees working in that stench
Great steak deals and nice and friendly staff. The Scottish bar tender is super knowledgeable and helpful. Thumps up
Always a great night at the Swan Hotel.
Great place for a drink and catchup with friends. Easy access from the train line.
Barman poured my beer, a bit too much head but not terrible. While I was paying, he grabbed the beer as if to fix it then tipped 1 cm out and gave the glass back to me.
Came around the corner here and Rory said he was inside, went in, straight to the back, talk to Rory at the bar, thought we should have moved away from the bar sooner than we did but enjoyed leaning up against it, foot raised searching for some sort of platform, not finding it, pressing my foot into the timber like a climber scouting out footholds, absentmindedly. The are so many pubs and car parks roofed over, terraces, beer gardens, rooms where you can't tell if you're inside or outside. Who is to say where you should go or how far in, what list to look at first. Somehow there was only ever one course of action, only Rory already there, an inertia present in every choice we are forced to make🐱🙈🎹
Great Food, decent prices, okay service
This place smells so bad but I can’t stop coming back
Good traditional Aussie pub. Love the sticky floors and cold beer. Great spot to watch sports.
We went there on a grand final public holiday afternoon and the staff in the bar were not interested to serve drinks except for beers and easy soft drinks. We didn't get the food once they suggested we go to a different bar for cocktails and mocktails.
Good for a night out after the footy. Free entry, but expensive drinks (as per expected in Melbourne). Also decent enough parma
We are Richmond locals and love leaving positive reviews for local businesses who deserve it, but this one doesn’t. Last night, we had a table of six, and it was a lacklustre experience for us. First of all the Cook refused to swap out chips for mash potato with the schnitzel - which is totally nuts. We offered to pay extra and it’s not like mashed potato isn’t on the menu - he just refused. Bazaar stuff. The rest of us had steaks which were shocking. If you do happen to find yourself there, if you want rare, ask for extra rare and if you want medium rare, ask for rare etc. but I will say the mash potato that I swapped from my plate to my wife’s plate was really yummy.
Awesome job guys!!! Your young bloke (lanky, braces, dark hair) is such an awesome bartender. He even remembered the way I had my steak last time, which was months ago. Such a great experience. Hope they keep these passionate staff members around its really making the swan a good place to go for locals.
There is a lovely guy who works here… he has braces and is a young fella. He is so lovely and goes above and beyond to provide excellent customer service. He is passionate about the food and drink even though it’s just our local daggy pub! Anyway.. makes the swan worth visiting
I’ll let you know this I only come during steak night and it’s the biggest gamble every time I’ve had some of the best steaks and some of the worse. If you feel like a betting man than be my guest but I have to order 2 just to get one good one.
The guy that was running food out was probably the rudest person I’ve ever met in my life. Never felt inclined to write a negative review for a place before experiencing him. Seemed to genuinely hate his job. Food was expensive but was pretty good.
This is a friendly restaurant. The food is cooked to your spice specification, mild, medium or hot.
