I booked two nights here but after the first night I couldn’t stay another. The accommodation was really well priced but sadly I got what I paid for. The room was not well ventilated and the small fan was useless. I had to open both the windows but the room sits above a busy road so consequently was too loud to get any rest. The room was safe and clean enough but disappointingly couldn’t get a decent night’s sleep.

Pleasant for a pub room. Comfortable bed, decent sized room, good location, fair prices, adequate facilities. The shower ceilings could do with a lick of paint and the soap dispensers in the bathrooms and toilets were ripped off the walls. I did see a big cockroach in the shower area but they don't eat much. Shower pressure was decent. I didn't try their wifi. I really wish they had air-conditioning as it was really hot. The pedestal fan helped. Id recommend to people but only if it's like less than a 28 degree day, as the room stayed hot for a long time.

Great spot to stay in Fitzroy! Cute, clean, comfortable rooms and close to cafes, shops, restaurants, parks, public transport, etc. Paul was super friendly at check-in and Liam was awesome, letting me keep a bag downstairs for the day after check out.

Went to the derby for the Tyson vs Paul fight and it was such a great atmosphere, pub was busy, cold beer and food was great, the fight froze a few times but what do you expect from a fight streamed through Netflix We use to go to a pub close by for the flights but will make this place our new local. Will be back tomorrow for the UFC

Good solid pub. Not too pretentious, hipster or wanky, but not too bogan either. Authentic Vibes! A Great Beer Garden to relax out back with friends and à magnificent Parma. Highly recommend

The place to be if the lion's are playing AND a good pub on Amy day

Barstaff here are on point. I've pulled a few beers in my time and drank a few more. These folks know how to work the jump. Quick, attentive, and a great attitude. Hotel had friendly patrons and good atmosphere. Definitely recommend and will be returning.

How great. We called in on the way to dinner and we're surrounded by Lions fans enjoying a big lead over Collingwood. Great atmosphere and great beer and great. Shane to find out later that they lost by 1 point.

It is very cheap accommodation in an area that has very little. It is no frills but clean and tidy. The noise from AC on the roof next to my window was the only let down. I'd stay there again.

To be honest, we only stopped here as I was desperate to find a toilet. The person behind the bar was so welcoming that we decided to stay for a drink.

Had my youngest daughters 21st here in July 2024. Honestly cannot fault anyone at the pub who helped us put it together. The function room, whilst small was the perfect fit for the amount of people that were invited and the manager Susannah was so obliging and went the next level to ensure we had a good time. The food was fantastic and the overall atmosphere was superb. I highly rate the Royal Derby !!

When I stayed a couple of years ago the beds were super squeaky to the point every move caused me to wake up. However it was $60 a night so I get what I paid for. However the food and in particular the chips and burgers were sublime! And the staff are so friendly and helpful

I rocked up to this pub for the second time. again the food was good value. the only downfall I have is places that serve food let people come in with their dirty disgusting dogs. people go out to eat to get away from home and not to sit with a flea bag what wanders around the table looking for food. these establishments need to say there's fleas and dogs roaming around this hotel do you want that with your food. usually it is insecure people who have to take their dog everywhere because their dog is just like them insecure and needs attention. I tried adding a picture of the dog walking around looking for scraps

I was first welcomed by an absolutely wonderful lady, Suz, best barmaid this side of Fitzroy. Great pub for a day out with the lads, everything you could ask for at your fingertips. Super relaxed homely vibe, can’t wait to make this place my local.

No kitchen only a microwave, lot of bathrooms, is ok for 1 or 2 nights

Just went here for a good parma. Area is kinda rough but worth it if you’re looking for lunch.

Super cute little austere rooms putting a shine on budget accommodation. The location comes with a noise factor but of course that is totally expected and absolutely worth it for how incredibly close you are to the most delightful street with an unbelievable variety of places to visit. Service is incredibly attentive and just really lovely. I've paid a lot more in other accommodation for a lot less flexibility and care factor.

A good Aussie style pub.. The front is old school heritage with beers and maaaate flowing, if the walls could talk.. it has a nice beer garden out the back, a really great variety on tap, plus the staff were super friendly and positive..

The Bar Manager is absolute PIG! had a booking in December for a large group. There was severe traffic and I received an email 8 mins after the time we had booked saying “You are not here, we are giving away your table. Regards the manager.”We ended up arriving 15 mins late which I advised by reply after receiving that email. At approximately 2pm there were a group of middle age men absolutely blind smashing glasses, spitting on each other, regurgitating drinks, fighting and tackling each other. The table was full with spilt drinks and food that had been throwing at each other. They were getting continually worse and the young family next to them were getting hit by food and bumbed by the group not to mention the swearing and yelling. I discreetly went over and said to the manager “Can you just keep an eye on them, that young family are coping it”. His reply was “well I’m not going to kick them out for just the family”. Shocked I walked away and shortly after the bar assistant came and started picking up their multiple broken glasses. She cut herself badly and the poor girl may have required stitches. She was not happy with the manager and apologised to us. I would love the owner of the premise to read this and I’m happy to follow up with any other questions

Best tap beer in Fitzroy, the meals are top quality and the staff friendly and inviting. TAB available plenty of screens to watch the Magpies beat Brisbane in the Grand Final once again in 2024......

The staff here are the best ever! So friendly and accommodating of requests. Amazing atmosphere when watching Brisbane lions games. Huge range of drinks on tap and spirits to choose from! Definitely the place to be to watch afl games, having a drink or just a nice, tasty meal.

Average food and overpriced beer.

Loved this place, great service from the staff, great indoor seating, meals were great and well priced. Definitely a great place for a night out and dinner.

Take note, this is how a pub needs to treat its customers, Every staff member was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and service orientated.

Food's always good & staff are friendly in the half dozen or so times I've been there. Plenty of screens setup to watch sport too.

After moving from Qld to Melbourne we were wanting to find a great place to watch our Brisbane Lions 🦁,well we found it in the Royal Derby. We have been a number of times and in particular we were made to feel very welcome by the lovely lady Ella behind the bar. She really does light the place up. The food has been great when we have eaten there and the drink prices are very reasonable. We will certainly continue to haunt this great old pub.

The Royal Derby Hotel is in the heart of trendy Fitzroy, Melbourne's first inner-city suburb. The bar has a variety of beers on tap, including Melbourne Bitter, Fitzroy's favorite beer. The kitchen produces favorites, such as parma with chips, and fish and chips. The Royal Derby also offers comfortable accommodation, within a few minutes of the City.|

The rooms are clean and very comfortable. The only drawback is who was in the room before you. On my second stay at the hotel the smell of smoke in room 10 was very strong. The food in the pub was fantastic. I would stay here again.

What an outstanding local community pub full of friendly and welcoming staff. The food, especially the chips, which are in short supply here in a Melbourne, was scrumptious and if you like to watch major sporting events with a great atmosphere then there is no better place in Melbourne than the Royal Derby Hotel. Look forward to seeing you there again soon.

Serving customers in a timely manner didn't seem to be a priority. Not a bad pub unless you were standing at the bar waiting for a drink. Limited food menu.

Where to start? Good: The rooms are clean and the amenities are plentiful / great location / easy check in and check out process Not so good: Bathrooms being shared arent always clean / LOUD - multiple times I thought that someone was walking inside my room but it was the loose wooden floorboards outside my room / unfortunately pub was closed most of the time I was there and never got to have a beer 😢 / the function on Sunday night was raucous and they were singing loudly until 12:30am - would have been better if i could have come down and joined in but were closed to the public!!

I like the room. It's cozy and clean. Love the high ceilings and the wooden floor. However, the shared bathroom, showers and kitchen were not that great. It's decent for backpackers on a budget and it's in a great location. But if I'm on holiday again in Melbourne, I'd look for a more comfortable place with a private bathroom, etc. Thank you!

Good venue for watching sport finals.

Went for a late Sunday lunch and to watch the footy. Plenty of rooms that are able to show different sports and a decent beer garden. Staff were friendly and great vibe. Parma was decent

Went there for a beer and a feed after seeing Elvis at IMAX yesterday! Had a fabulous Guinness and amazing steaks! $20!!! Sunday night special! The chips were perfect - crispy, golden brown and perfect size - and the side salad was really delicious! Great atmosphere - a real “local”!! Highly recommend 👏👏👏

Far too expensive for a basic pub, the food might be nice but for 16$ a pint we won't be ordering dinner
