We stopped here on the way to Rod Laver for a few drinks, around 6pm on a Tuesday and the place was quiet which seemed unusual. The staff were super friendly and chill, they had a killer playlist of songs, pool tables were available and there was seating available in every room. Bathrooms were clean, drinks were cold and cheap - it ticked every box that we wanted to tick. Definitely would love to come back when it's really kicking off maybe later in the night or on a weekend, also so we could try some of the food too 😊

This place doesn’t value their locals, as went in during happy hour and was charged over $20 for a pint, when I only went in and was charged $12 a few months ago for the exact same beer, when I questioned the price they started abusing me and told me they didn’t want my business, then the exact same bloke who abused me went and gave all his friends a tray of free shots, good luck Rising Sun, you’ve lost a local and won’t be the last if you continue to treat your customers with such a severe lack of respect, also in what world is charging $20 for a pint of beer acceptable.

Have had a few events on the rooftop for different sports events, the space is unreal and the crew at The Riser always look after us, cannot recommend this pub highly enough. Can have a huge group up there and not feel too cramped but still have an awesome atmosphere, will be going back till the end of time :)

We booked the function room for a private party and we could not have received any better service. The staff were amazing form the prompt delivery of our food to the friendly bar staff happily serving our drinks with a smile and a welcoming smile. Thanks so much guys for making our special day even more special.

Flatty tails where horrible, 2 skinny little tails tasted like they had been frozen and not fresh. chips not cooked properly. Also the chicken wings the worst I've ever had. I spat it out rubbish food good venue for a beer

Rising Sun Hotel is a long standing Richmond pub that has literally not changed for anyone. The decor, vibe and everything about it screams 1990's pub and this is not a bad thing. No it's not fancy and flash, but the service is friendly and quick and the food is amazing. Large size classic pub meals that are so hearty, filling and delicious you'll be going back for more.

Fantastic customer service and great food. The service is the very reason why I'd support this business seeing other establishment no longer have the same morals and ethics.

In today's age of tiktok and insta influencers, the Riser provides a refuge for those wishing to have a pint, a good feed and their shoes stick to the carpet. This pub is a slap in the face to pretentiousness. It welcomes you with open arms no matter.

A big thanks to Liam and team for their service on the weekend. We had a bucks day for 27 people and everybody enjoyed the day. The space upstairs was very suitable for us and all facilities were excellent, the food and drinks were excellent and made for a memorable experience, thanks to The Riser!

Real old school pub in the city, relive the late 80s with a pub that has barely changed. The food prices are a bit much for the plain pub fare but the food is ok. Lots of tvs, 2 pool tables, buck hunter and a TAB section.. country pub in the city would recommend.

We had a wonderful function in the rooftop beer garden. The food was amazing and i received so many positive comments about the food and the night in general. Would not hesitate in recommending this venue to family and friends. Thanks to all the staff for making the night so memorable!!

Our lunch was exceptional, I would highly recommend it to anyone, there was so much on my plate that I couldn't eat it all. Well worth the money. Service was great. Would go back again.

One of the best places to watch sport and have a beer off tap.

Our company held their 2023 Christmas Party at the Rising Sun on the Rooftop Bar. Great area for a private function that had 85 attending. We also had our own Singer Emma Black we hired for the event and she was awesome. Service from Charley and Izzy on the bar throughout the night was fantastic and the the platters of food were never ending. We probably over catered. Owners Liam and Patrick Jnr were fantastic to work with leading up to the event as well as on the night. Nothing was too much for the Rising Sun team to do to make the function a success. An awesome night had by all. Thanks to all at the Rising Sun who contributed to make the event a success

I was looking for a function space in Richmond area to cater for 80 people cocktail. So many places wanted per head or crazy minimum spend! The Rising Sun offered me the whole roof top beer garden with no hire fee, just a $3000 minimum spend! Amazing value for a Richmond venue. The bar staff were lovely and the whole team were accommodating....we had an amazing function and everyone raved about it!!!

Had my 21st at the Rising Sun Richmond, this venue was absolutely fantastic across the board. The organization of the night with staff and management leading up to, as well as on the night from the staff and making sure all guests were having a great time. The food was high quality and there is a fantastic selection of drinks. Would highly recommend the Rising Sun.

I recently left a review for the Rising Sun hotel Richmond following a function. The manager on duty at the time made us spend the $500 deposit at our function, making it a total of $3500 instead of $3000. We were advised that we had to spend it and could not get the money refunded. The venue said we are confused about what happened, but that is not the case. It is a shame that the rising Sun hotel slanders customers instead of the trying to address issues, and that staff members aren’t always telling the truth. I have since contacted the venue to discuss the case further, unfortunately despite having my email and contact number they have NOT responded. They were quick to respond to a negative Google review, but still won’t respond to emails or call to discuss with me. Use this venue with caution if you hold a function, depending which manager is on duty you may be forced to spend you deposit instead of getting it returned.

We recently hosted an event in the cocktail/function room. To secure the date, the venue required a $500 deposit. While we were informed of the $3000 minimum spend for the night, it came to our attention midway through the function, after the kitchen had closed, that the $3000 minimum spend did not include the $500 deposit, which also needed to be spent that night. Consequently, the total minimum spend for the evening amounted to $3500. Notably, this crucial detail was not mentioned in any of the emails exchanged during the booking process or in the corresponding paperwork. Following up on the reply to the owner's message, we had several clarifications with Liam, who was on duty that night. According to Liam, we were instructed to utilize the $3000, in addition to the $500 already paid as a deposit. Unwilling to spend a total of $3500, we reluctantly allocated the funds to additional alcohol expenses. In acknowledgment of the confusion surrounding the necessity to spend the entire $500 on the same night with no possibility of a refund, Liam and your team extended an apology. They offered a dinner as a gesture of goodwill, recognizing that the miscommunication had not been adequately conveyed to us and that similar incidents had occurred in the past with other patrons.

Stopped today to grab a bite to eat & a drink. Shared the charcuterie board after being recommended by bar staff. $37 for the smallest amount of cheese slices & salami 5 slices, 6 slices of ham that was extremely fatty, 3 tiny ramekins of dip & cooked pitta bread. Very disappointed, menu even states olives, pickles, capers we even had to go get our own knives, plates & serviettes to share the expensive plate that looked like something from the 70's. Seriously very disappointed 😞

I went there last night for a few beers with friends. Paid for the round. 2 jugs of Carlton Draught and 2 packs of chips cost $64. Not worth it for a dull atmosphere and Carlton Draught. I have eaten her before as well and the overcharge for what they serve. Not worth going her at all. What a joke

I would recommend the Rising Sun Hotel to anyone looking for a casual pub with good food, drinks, and atmosphere. It's a great place to go for a meal with friends or family, or to watch a sporting event.

Thankyou to Liam and his crew for the great space in the back bar for my dad’s memorial. His team were so accommodating and we all felt right at home . We will be back for beers soon!

The weekend is a great vibe! Got three sections and lots of space! (Rooftop!) There’s also pool tables for your spare time during breaks and halftime watching sports :) Staff are awesome (shoutout to LIAM, HE IS A LEGEND!) Love their weekly special menu! The chefs are awesome & super friendly 🔥🔥🙌🏽🙌🏽

Who says you have to be fancy to be good. This place is the exception to the rule for sure. Where else can you get a succulent porterhouse steak for $20? Where else you can eat said deal of the century with a bar mat on the table? Here. Can’t wait for next Monday!

Worth the visit..

The staff were excellent and went out of their way to ensure our party of six were seated in the most suitable spot. The food was delicious including my 80-year-old mother's favorite. Sticky Date Pudding. Well priced. We'll come again.
