St Kilda Football Club: A Legacy of Passion and Community

The St Kilda Football Club, one of the foundation clubs of the Victorian Football League (VFL), now known as the AFL, has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1873. Representing over 40,000 members and a vibrant community in Melbourne’s south—from Port Melbourne to Portsea—the Saints are a cornerstone of Australian Rules Football. The club also proudly fields a team in the AFL Women’s competition since 2020, further diversifying and strengthening the sport in the region.

A Proud History

St Kilda’s legacy is defined by legendary players such as Darrel Baldock, Trevor Barker, and modern-day icon Nick Riewoldt. The club’s journey began at Junction Oval in St Kilda before relocating its training and administration base to Moorabbin in 1964. The Saints celebrated their first and only premiership in 1966, marking a golden era in the 1960s. Between 2004 and 2012, St Kilda emerged as a powerhouse, competing in two Grand Finals in 2009 (against Geelong) and 2010 (against Collingwood), and winning more games than any other team during that period.

A Modern Home: RSEA Park

In 2011, the Saints moved to Seaford, paving the way for the redevelopment of RSEA Park in Moorabbin. In 2018, the club returned to its spiritual home, unveiling a state-of-the-art $40 million headquarters that rivals the best in Australian sport. These facilities are shared with the Sandringham Dragons, the Southern Football League, and the South Metro Junior Football League, reflecting the club’s deep commitment to community engagement and development.

Community and Inclusion

St Kilda is dedicated to fostering inclusion and providing opportunities for young footballers in the region. Through programs like the Danny Frawley Centre and partnerships with local leagues, the Saints aim to inspire and nurture the next generation of talent. The club also proudly participates in the Victorian Wheelchair Football League and is affiliated with Sandringham in the VFL, offering pathways for players to continue their football journey.

Partnerships and Sponsors

The Saints are supported by a range of partners, including:

  • Principal Partners: CMC Invest, Chery Motor
  • Major Partners: Red Rooster, RSEA Safety, Westinghouse, Opal

These partnerships enable the club to continue its mission both on and off the field.

Nice

Had such a good day at St kilda open training. Go saints!

Wonderful park with something for everyone; formal and well maintained sports areas, kids play sites, park gym equipment. Even BBQ’s. We bee-line for this park for family, friend and also work gatherings.

Very enjoyable day, great atmosphere 👌 👍

Great family atmosphere 👍

The staff members are the best in the AFL

Excellent venue and well laid out with good facilities.

I visited RSEA Park today. I was having alittle trouble transferring tickets for Next Year's Games to my phone. Ella on the Front Desk was Extremely Friendly and Helpful & knew exactly how to help. Thankyou. The Old Saints Footy Ground is all Brand New. 🟥⬜️⬛️

Home of the greatest footy side. Enough said.

A fantastic venue to enjoy a match in the sun. A grassy hill to spread out a rug on one side of the ground, or, if you prefer a seated grandstand on the other.

They've done a great here. Love going to RSEA Park

It's such a great local facility. The oval, the buildings, and surrounding park areas are immaculately kept and buzzing on game days. Also, the Danny Frawley Centre has an abundance of community activities at very reasonable rates. Five stars indeed!

Very family friendly

The admin there is hopeless. I couldn't get them to return a call after trying 5 times. Including an actual visit to their front counter. Absolute no response at all.

Good facilities enjoying my time there.

What a Great place clean and easy to get to luv to go back any time

Watched stkilda train good ground Cafe and bar

Was ok very small the restaurant was an opening store but the poke is a quite small and bathroom facilities and little bar but it's a good little meeting place for

Home of the St Kilda football club. Not my team but I came here as a kid to watch the saints. They've done a great development here. Pride flag out front

It was very easy to navigate with Google maps

Had such a great day seeing and meeting the saints and the one and only Nick Riewoldt at open training 😍, the club is beautiful! Up the sainters ❤️

Pretty awesome the new facilities, atmosphere was great, food was very nice Very family friendly. Cheap entry. Only annoying things was they didn't except cash for entry/tickets. Speakers where also very loud, hurt my ears a bit. But picking at straws here. Otherwise very good experience

Really enjoyed the facilities and the girls game

Fabulous facilities!

As a senior member I feel right at home there. Everything is new and shiny ... but as the old place was replaced ... no more hot dogs at the counter and that was always a treat accompanied with a cool glass of non alcoholic beverage ... and I miss this ... sadly the place is too posh" to keep this going."

Great place 👌

Had to inform club of my mums passing, was a member for 68 years, the club were very compassionate and even sent a condolences letter to me. Staff were fantastic and assisted me in my queries.

Great facilities, good to see all of the St.Kilda players.

Awesome

Saint's Locker shop could do with a better sign on the building to show where it is. Beware previous year's sale items can't be purchased directly from the shop. Online only.

Having been a regular attendee at the original Moorabbin oval decades ago, I should give a 5 rating for the newly built structures alone. With the addition of the Danny Frawley Centre the place is unrecognisable from the old days. Plenty of car parking spaces exist although I was lucky to find an empty one for visitor parking. This contrasted with the oddly empty inner spaces. Perhaps lunchtime on a Tuesday is not people's preferred time. I wanted to sort a minor issue at the Saints Locker. I received friendly assistance from the staff member there. Must go again and try the coffee shop. Go Saints!

Great facilities

Beautifully laid out stadium with perfect views. I found the spectators there very friendly . A great experience.

First time back since I was a little tacker but this time I brought my daughter along. I am amazed at how modern it looks now and on the plus side now my daughter wants to see the saints play. Just need some more car parks.

Great place, if you're ever in the area pop in

Go saints 😊😊😊

Love my saints

A bit of a joke to be honest. 34°c and can't get a bottle of water to save myself. Horrible facilities. And rude ground staff!

Awesome facilities and staff. Best looking nab league ground

Far cry from the old Morrabbin St Kilda ground of yesteryears. Great place to visit now. Good facilities, bars, gamibg, etc. Still don't agree with St Kilda spendind a fortune getting back here and now being in a long term debt situation. Should have never left in the first place and they really never gave Seaford a decent go. But that was the unfortunate mistakes of egotistical, bloody minded, usuless, executive management and boards of our past. Hopefully that is behind the club now.

It's getting better and better, hope St. Kilda club will win the cup again in this decade or I'm just a dreamer 😂.

Well equipped and maintained footy ground

Always kind happy staff

Very nice and clean. Prices of beer are very high, even in a plastic cup $11. (Wouldn't want to spill any of it) But nice club 🙂

Wait for beer was long. Music was too loud, why do they have to smash the beats every goal?🤷🏻‍♂️

No parking, limited facilities.

Great place to watch the footy! Get your tickets early so you don't have to try and buy them online when you get there. There is a ticket booth at Gate 2!

Great to watch the aflw, kids enjoyed it ,only downside was the lack of food options. Perhaps a community run bbq?

Great facilities

Watched my first game at the ground in 30 years. The biggest surprise is the playing surface which is more like a bowls green than the mud heap of the 1980's.

The ground is fantastic, the girls played well despite a loss but the service of the cafe team needs to be improved, extremely slow, stood in line for 20mins and gave up on being served disappointing.

Great place for a walk and a coffee. Love the new stand.

Great experience
