About Waverley RSL
Our Mission
Our clear mission is to support the well-being and betterment of our members, former and serving members of the Australian Defence Force and their dependents. We achieve this through the provision of welfare and commemorative services, high-quality facilities, and hospitality for members and guests. Additionally, we contribute to the needs of the disadvantaged within the City of Monash.
Our Journey
The Glen Waverley Sub-Branch of the Returned Servicemen’s League, Victoria, was formed on the 9th of September 1950, when 25 returned servicemen met at the mechanic’s institute hall (the Waverley Hall) on Springvale Road, Black Flat.
In 1960, our name was changed from Glen Waverley Sub-Branch to the Waverley Sub-Branch, coinciding with the creation of the City of Waverley from the Shire of Mulgrave. In 1963, an adjoining block of land was acquired, leading to the first major expansion of our club rooms.
In 1968, newly liberalised Liquor Laws made it easier for clubs to obtain Liquor Licences. At a special meeting of the Sub-Branch in August 1968, it was decided that a Club should be formed, and an application for a Liquor Licence was made. By this time, membership had increased to over 200 ordinary members.
Since then, the Waverley RSL Sub-Branch became an Incorporated Entity in 1998 and has expanded its membership base to include and welcome many Social Members. This allows the general public to experience the warmth and hospitality of our RSL and gain an appreciation and insight into the world of the RSL, whether through the memorabilia on display, the daily observance of “stand to,” or casual chats with service or affiliate members over a meal or beverage.
From our beginnings as a triple-fronted brick veneer house in 1956, our club has undergone two major redevelopments in 1994 and 2005, and more recently, a refurbishment in 2016. Our business has developed to include a full table service restaurant, a 100-person function room, and a well-appointed gaming lounge and sports bar with TAB wagering facilities.
Our Club is a high-profile hospitality venue with a well-earned reputation for quality meals and wines, comparable to other high-calibre establishments within the Glen Waverley precinct. Importantly, all this allows us to provide our Welfare Office with the resources it needs to assist our many Service and Affiliate members who may be in need of support—whether it be mowing the lawn of one of our wonderful War Widows or assisting veterans with issues relating to the Dept of Veterans Affairs.
We also consider it important to provide a safe and friendly environment for our many members who choose to use our Club as a regular meeting place.

Beautiful gluten free food great service got place to catch up with family
Exceptionally clean and professional restaurant. Staff are obviously well trained and very efficient and courteous. Meals are excellent quality with seniors meals $20 or $25 for an additional choice of soup or desert. Lots of parking available, and next to major rail and bus terminals. Highly recommended 👌 Beats most pub meals with an outstanding presentation. Do it now.
On our visit to Melbourne from Hobart, we had a great time as the food and service was excellent. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely visit this restaurant again,

My fellow weary travellers had booked some tables for a dinner. My word, as soon as we walked in we are greeted in a tremendous manner, what a fine looking establishment. The entry to the premises was seamless, quick efficient and polite. Once we arrive at our well appointed tables, we are graciously greeted and proceed to order a round of drinks, the service and the drinks service are outstanding. Deliciously appointed pints of the coldest Vic Bitter, enough to even turn the non Mexicans of the crowd. Scarlett whimsically enters the room bearing the finest of food, she is our saviour from famine and thirst. Carrying in our delicious slathering of the most opulent foods. I myself had ordered the quite fanciful delight of our chef Franks magnificent Paella. It did not disappoint. Luscious, velvety, rich and deep in flavour. At the end of our night, we wished Bon voyage to Warramunga, where our host, Scarlett, easily dividing our fellowships william into four exact payments, which we promptly obliged with paying in gold tokens of the local currency. Overall, good night. Would rate. Bye.
This is the RSL's restaurant. Food is alright, not great however very affordable as the gamblers subsidise" the operations of the club."
Excellent customer and table service for an RSL.
One of the best RSLs going. Smallish but with an intimate feel. All meals served were high quality and very tasty. Special shout for the smoked ribs... so good! Good selection of meals too with thoughtful specials. To cap it off the service staff are very accommodating and pleasant to deal with.

My mates were raving about the chicken parma, and they were not wrong. The parma was fried to perfection and moist on the inside. There was just enough cheese and sauce on the top. I added napoli sauce on top for extra kick. Portion was huge for the price ($28). It was served with chips and salad or steam veggie. I would definitely recommend this to all parma lovers. This restaurant has daily dinner specials throughout the week, and the prices are reasonable. This restaurant is the same building as the Glen RSL. Sign in at the front counter and head towards the restaurant on the left. A pleasant overall experience.

Excellent Seniors Christmas Lunch. An excellent place to catch up. The best Suburban Restaurant I have frequented in Victoria. Great staff, menu and service. Always need to book a table.
Found this great restaurant with good fine dining service, high quality food and with reasonable prices. It’s so easy to miss it due to the Tab next door but highly recommend it if you are looking for good dining experience.

Food was ok, but over priced for what you get, l would pop in for a drink, but wouldn't eat there again there again in a hurry.

In the hustle and bustle of Glen Waverley Warramunga Restaurant provided us with a quite and calm ambience to enjoy our meal. Henri and his team were fantastic too with customer service and friendliness which today, is often overlooked in some restaurants.
